no reg. sugar! life savers or floss sugar r best!

life savers (all flavors) are the best candy to use in this machine. they dont clump up or clog the machine at all and you can quickly and easily get a full size serving of cotton candy out of just 3 or 4 life savers. tastes great too... dont use jolly ranchers because that kind of cotton candy just turns back into a jolly rancher once you put it in your mouth...
if you use sugar dont use the regular sugar you get at the store because it clogs up the machine bad.. it does work but its really hard to unclump up that sugar...try it and you'll see what i mean. get the special floss sugar for cotton candy machines. (you wont find it at a grocery store so you'll have to order it at amazon). this stuff clumps up too but its much easier to unclump. when the cotton candy stops flowing take a fork or a knife and carefully let it scrape along the inside running the fork up and down while its still spinning to break up the clumped up stuff...it will get loud but thats okay, this is quicker than turning it off to unclump it.

Best Christmas gift this year

My 8 year old daughter loves making cotton candy for her friends and family! She uses Jolly Ranchers, Life Savers and Root Beer Barrels. She adds 2 teaspoons of white granulated sugar with the hard candy which makes it fluffier and not have such a strong flavor. This machine works better than I ever thought, my only complaint is that the cover comes off easily. The found that if one person holds the machine, it helps the cover stay on and decreases noise. This was the best gift this year!

It's a fun machine to have. Couldn't expect more for the price. My daughters 11 and 6 get to enjoy homemade cotton candy. It does make noise but it can be reduced by having a second person hold it in place.

I read several reviews before purchasing this for my 7 year old granddaughter. This machine had the best reviews so i'm wonderiing if it may be defective. Makes little cotton candy and is very noisy. Let it warm 15 minutes before using it . There is no way my very intelligent 7 year old granddaugher could play with this without supervision.
