Having a toddler and 4 yr old and keeping the floors crumb free is next to impossible. My friends joke, it's like trying to brush your teeth while eating oreos. I'd finish vacuuming and 30 seconds later I would find crumbs on the floor. It made me nuts! I set it to run at night while we are sleeping and wake up to very crumb free floors! This is every mom's dream (aside from having someone else clean your house).

I just had hardwood floors installed in my kitchen and living room and struggled to keep the dog hair cleaned up from my black lab. The Roomba took only a short time to charge and set up and did an amazing job on the hardwood floors and several rugs. I am now using the scheduler to have it clean the rooms every few days and now I don't even notice the dog hair! A great investment!

Many improvements over the 560

My 2 Roomba 560's finally died after about 4 years each. After going without my daily helper for 6 months while I debated spending 400$ so that I didn't have to sweep the floor every day I finally ordered a Roomba 650 last week. Why did I wait so long?!? This model is quieter, actually slows down before it bashes into an object (this was my main complaint with the 560), doesn't get stuck in my thicker shaggy area rug like the old ones did and is generally smarter. I love the redesigned filter. it catches much more crud. The brushes and bearings are greatly improved too. It is already disgusting me each time I send it on a mission with the globs and globs of cat and dog hair that were hiding on our hardwood and carpeted floors. All it took was one mission to remind me why a Roomba is worth every penny if you have kids and pets and don't (or won't) sweep your floors every day. I program mine to run at 2am daily in my large wood floored kitchen/family room. It doesn't wake me up when it runs and every morning the grit is gone! Just remember to empty the dust bin and dig the fur out of the bearings every day and Roomba will be your best buddy for a long time. I am disappointed that my old lighhouses are not compatible with the new model and I will have to invest in a couple more than the 1 that comes with it. But that is my only complaint.

BEST Roomba yet!

You have not had clean floors until you have had Roomba 650. I purchased this Roomba in January 2013 and my floors have been daily vacuumed and perfect ever since. My Roomba is scheduled to vacuum daily. I also take this Roomba, who our family and friends affectionately named 'Spock', with me on house sitting gigs. One family I house sit for has 3 extremely active dogs who shed every second of the day, everywhere. 'Spock' not only vacuums the floor with ease, but keeps it spotless.
Roomba's are not with out maintenance. Once you have used it on a regular basis in your home for a week or two, then the maintenance does become easier. With this said, if you are not willing to occasionally press the clean button, help Roomba in rare moments of being stuck, empty Roomba every 2-3 days, clean the brushes once a week, and take 15 minutes at least once a month to deep clean the whole thing, then Roomba is not for you. For me though, I am okay with maybe only taking 2-3 minutes at maximum out of my day to have a perfectly vacuumed floor every single day. This little guy has been able to vacuum spaces ranging from 1000 sq ft to 2750 sq ft with ease. To say I love Roomba, is an understatement. Have a great day! I hope this helps in some way!

Whoever invented this thing deserves a Nobel. Two golden retrievers + two long haired cats + tile floors = hair tumbleweeds EVERYWHERE. She (Rosie the Roomba, named for the robot maid on the Jetsons) does a great job corralling them. I was a little concerned that the cleaning would be a pain since it sounded like you have to take the whole thing apart every time, and you do, but it's very a very simple and quick procedure. Worth every cent.

I purchased the Roomba 650 to clean my tile & wood floors. It is unbelievable!!!!!! I have two dogs, one which sheds terribly. We are constantly sweeping because of the dog!!! The goal was too minimize the sweeping. I run the Rooba 3 times a week and do not sweep anymore! Also, there was a huge improvement when I dusted......wasn't expecting that!!! Less dust on the furniture & NO dog hair!!! I would not have believed it, if I had not experienced it first hand. For the cost of the vacuum, I hope the durability is there! I have only had mine a month.

Best Purchase Ever!

I bought my daughter a Roomba several years ago, and she likes it, but is not one who is prone to raving about inanimate objects, so I was never really sure whether it was worth the money. She did mention a few minor problems, which I now wonder whether they are attributable to not cleaning the dust bin after each use or not changing the filter often enough. I have wood floors, throw rugs in front of the doors (4) and one in my bedroom,a cat, and HATE to vacuum. I also hate for my young grandsons to play on a dirty floor, and did I mention that I also hate cat hair? I bit the bullet in December of 2012, and don't just like it, I LOVE my Roomba 650. I have not run the vacuum cleaner since December. I do not use the auto-clean function, fearing I may have left shoes in the floor or something like that. I placed the virtual wall in the middle of my hall, and every morning, hit the go button, so it cleans the front half of the house while I get ready for work. I leave home while my new "maid" is still zooming around, under furniture I never cleaned under before, and all kinds of places. When it has sucked up all the dirt, it drives itself back to its charger. When I get home, I empty the dust bin (and it is embarrassing to see how much it picks up every day), manually carry it to the other side of the virtual wall, and hit the go button, to do the back of the house. When it is through cleaning, I do have to go on a search mission, sometimes finding it under a bed, but that's to be expected since its home base is on the other side of the virtual wall. A few hints, and your life will never be the same: put little clips on the wall, to keep electric cords from being eaten; if your drapes puddle on the floor, either shorten them to floor length or throw them over the back of a chair; there will be a few things you need to pick up (Roomba wants to climb onto my very low/flat bathroom scale, and tends to push my lightweight trash can under my bed); some throw rugs work better than others - very soft rugs with no backing tend to roll up, but my inexpensive throw rugs with foam backing do fine; in some rooms, Roomba may go around a door, push it closed, and wind up closing itself in the room. I slip a small piece of 1 x 4 wood that I found in the garage, into the hinge side of the door jamb so it won't close. The ultimate test was Christmas, and the tree skirt. BB&B had some strips that look like carpet (about 3" x 18") - made to work with Roomba, but not made by iRobot. Using the included little sticky pads I placed them on the floor just outside the Christmas tree skirt. Yes they may have looked a bit odd, but Roomba did not once try to eat the tree skirt. You can cover them when company comes. I choose to move pet dishes, but may purchase the little mat available on the BB&B website. Please do not think all the "hints" and precautions are more trouble than vacuuming. Once I took care of the electric and cable cords, it takes me about 30 seconds to pick up those things that need to be moved each day. I will never ever go back! This is by far the most helpful, work and time saving product I have EVER purchased, and I'm almost retirement age. Do yourself a favor, and buy a Roomba!

The Roomba 650 works great! I was a little hesitant to buy due to the price, but I am so glad that I did. Being a working mom with a toddler and 2 dogs, this is a great time saver. It does occasionally get caught (e.g., on certain rugs), but otherwise, it has been fantastic. It picks up a significant amount of dirt, dog fur, etc. It is easy to operate (which I love, as I have no patience for electronics). I highly recommend this product.

We've been using our Roomba 650 for a few weeks now and it is working great. It comes with one automatic virtual wall that can be used to either block the Roomba from a room, or create a "halo" around objects such as pet bowls. You don't need to buy the separate "virtual halo" -- it is the same as the virtual wall, but with a sleeve that covers the lens that broadcasts the virtual wall. If you cover the lens the virtual wall works as a virtual halo. Also, you don't need the virtual wall to keep the Roomba from falling down the stairs -- it senses the stairs by itself.
I highly recommend it; this model seems to give you the best set of features for the price.

I just purchased it yesterday, but it was simple to set up and was fully charged in only a couple hours so I set it to work on my dog room, which is carpeted and was quite dirty. I used the virtual wall in the doorway so I could keep the door open (one of my dogs sleeps in there) and it worked great! It never left the room and vacuumed the closet and the room very well! It looked beautiful when I came downstairs this morning and the Roomba was back in it's 'home base" ready to do some more! I need some more of those walls though because I have a large open downstairs and I'd like to confine it to particular areas. That's what I'm going to get today! I'm tempted to put little googly eyes on it. It's so adorable!!

We absolutely love it! We never knew how dirty our floors were until our new Roomba maid moved in. It cleaned our house very nicely and now saves me one household chore a week! I don't even have to be there when it goes to work. We do have to clean out the brushes from any hair that accumulates to keep it working at its maximum best. But overall we love it!

I am a grandma and was given this by my 4 kids for christmas and I just love my Roomba but not only that I need my Roomba. I can turn it on and that little thing picks up everything!!!! It is amazing. I have had mine for 2 years now and still think its the best thing on the market for helping keep your house swept and knowing your floors are clean. I don't know why anyone would give these little wonders a bad name. My grandkids have given him a name it is part of our family, they just move over or turn him around while they are playing and with my grandson on the floor it makes me feel better knowing that my floor is clean. Its always full. I take good care of mine, cleaning it and the filter because I want him to last a very long time because I need him!!!

Bought mine on Friday after reading all other reviews. I have a cat and two kids, so I was very curious to see how well this thing actually did. I was super impressed! I don't know how it does it, but it managed to get every square inch of my downstairs in one charge. I love that it gets under beds and couches. I have it set to clean three days a week. I'm shocked how much dirt and cat hair it finds each time. My only complaint's are that it didn't do so well on my kitchen floor that has grout (and it's not deep grout work) and it had a hard time climbing onto the area rug in the living room. I used my 20% coupon, so I saved $80, so I think it's totally work the money I spent.

I was very hesitant about buying a roomba but we are SOO glad we did. My wife really wanted one and i am glad we got one too! We run the roomba daily and our carpets have never looked as good. It goes around and also under furniture where we never really got to. Awesome and such a great investment! The 650 is great because of the timers you can set it to go by itself

We have had Roomba for a month now,and never imagined it would pick up all that it does. Having 2-3 dogs plus a long haired cat meant endless sweeping and vacuuming of our laminate floors. The Roomba is not quiet but not overly noisy. This model does not untangle itself from cords so care has to be taken to pick up clutter. While it will not go over the edge of the steps it does shut off and have then to be reset and started again. What really surprises me is that it seems to get the whole floor clean while not following any route. It runs and bumps around like a drunk until the whole floor is swept. You might think they would program in some logic to say follow the wall and then move inside. We feel at this time we got our money's worth. Replacement parts seem overly expensive but it won't work without them so what are you going to do?

If you have pets and hardwood floors and hate pulling out the vac everyday, this is for you. Bonus..while it cleans my floor it keeps the great dane on the move so my floors get cleaned while she gets more exercise. ;-) It does a great job on cleaning up the dog hair, dust, and dirt. I set it loose after we took the christmas tree down and this little bot cleaned up all the needles. FYI, it does not like electrical cords and will get tangled up in them, but we have gotten them all out of the way and no problems with that anymore. The Roomba has freed up 30 minutes of my day that I use to spend vacuuming up dog hair. Love it! Only one who is not thrilled with it is the Great Dane! This vac has far exceeded my expectations, for a neat freak it has surprised me on how well it vacs the floors.

I love this vacuum, I have a dog that brings in grass and this picks up well. I see people complain about leaving dirt behind, if the Roomba does that it is because it is full and needs to be emptied. Since it has no bag it must be cleaned after each us by removing the rollers, cleaning the filter, etc. I have a small brush to dust off dirt. I also remove the rollers because I have notice that hair, string and whatever else you may not see is wrap around the rollers and may cause it to not work. It is worth it
