Despite using the 'bold' button and adding extra grounds, this maker still makes very weak coffee. I will be returning this item and looking for something better.

Love, love this product. Makes a perfect cup of coffee each time. Using my own ground coffee makes a better cup of coffee than a K-cup machine. So easy to use and clean. No negatives; highly recommend.

I love this! You can use your own coffee or tea and make it whatever strength you want and it comes out hot. We take it on trips because most in room coffee makers are not very good. I recommend this product.

I love this product, I have a Kurig and the Hamilton Beach is the best money spent on a one cup coffee maker, there is no waste (coffee), it's cheaper (than pods) and the coffee is always hot. The part I like the best is I get to purchase any coffee I want.

All other Hamilton Beach products have been excellent but this one was so disappointing. The coffee is very weak, and not hot once it is in the cup. After a few times, the filter leaked making quite a mess. I ended up using more coffee grounds than I did using my small 4-cup drip coffee maker. Sorry to say, I cannot recommend this product.

Absolutely love this! I'm the only coffee drinker in the house, so to brew just one cup is very simple. It did take me a couple of times to adjust the water/coffee to my taste. I did take the advice of others on here and I used the scoop to pack the coffee, just one tap to smooth it down. I like being able to make one cup and not having to use the expensive k-cups. I just use my same ol' Maxwell House. Love the adjustable platform, easily adjusts for a coffe cup or travel cup. Highly recommend.

I am so happy with the Hamilton Beach Scoop coffee maker. I'd been using a Keurig and this is so much better. Using my regular coffee is less expensive and can use the brand I like best. Easy clean too.l.

I got mine four days after ordering from the store (Very good). I ran 14oz through the machine several times to clean and check water temp which was 160F in the cup. After that it worked fine WITH FINELY GROUND COFFEE. Today I tried some regular drip ground coffee. It was weak. So, I find that only finely ground coffee gives me a robust cup of coffee.

I've had this machine for 7-8 months and still love it!
Just 2 things...
1. dump the excess water reservoir every couple of days (ours had an old water taste when we came back from out of town). Just tip upside down over sink.
2. pack your coffee grounds with a spoon ~ or your thumb to get a stronger brew. Takes the water longer to filter through the grounds.

Watered Down Coffee

I really wanted to love this coffee maker. It is compact, easy to clean and assemble. It's sleek looking and I loved the fact I could use my own coffee. The issue is that water will seep through the sides of the scoop, missing the coffee grounds. I've had this since X-Mas and tried everything to remedy the problem. I have to run the machine for about 45 seconds, where only water pours out. I then stop the machine, pour out the water/ coffee and start it up again. I'm still left with sub-par coffee. To bad!

Best Single Brewer by Far

This coffee maker is beautiful stainless steel, not that cheap, imitation (plastic) stainless. I had already purchased this C-M and have been using it, when I read the other reviews. I can't believe the silly things others complain about! You don't dump the coffee from the scoop in the filter. The scoop is also part of the filter, people, along with the mesh filter. You scoop up the coffee and put the scoop in the filter and leave it there while brewing. So you have two filters in one machine. Who wants to waste money buying filters? It comes with two scoops, which are lovely stainless steel, so you can leave one hanging conveniently on the side of the machine and one in the filter basket. In fact, it's ideal for two cups of coffee and each cup can be a different type of coffee without clean-up, just use the individual scoops accordingly! You can select regular or bold brew, adjust the grounds accordingly and you have just as strong a cup of coffee as you desire! You can use a travel mug or a regular mug and they both brew a great cup of coffee. Like any C-M, you should run a batch of plain, distilled or purified water at first use. As with any C-M, sputters are caused by clogs from mineral deposits left by water, so you simply run a batch of half vinegar, half distilled water occasionally to keep your coffee maker running properly. Of course, I use French Market Coffee. I bought one for work and it couldn't be easier to clean with a quick rinse. Now, with the 20% coupon I get from BBB by email, I'm going to purchase another for the house. Forget Keurig, good-bye Starbucks, this is the best coffee-maker, hands down!

Use less coffee

Just got this and so far I really like it - I like bold coffee and was using at least 5 tbsp for one cup in the old basket coffee maker; The Scoop I am using MUCH less coffee with MUCH better flavor. It is very easy to use/clean and does not take up a lot of counter make.

The Scoop is perfect for us

We've always used makers that brew up to 12 cups. Of course, if you can't drink the full pot, you end up reheating the left overs (not the best!). A family member bought a Hamilton Beach single cup maker & we liked the cups of coffee it produced. When I searched for that model, I found The Scoop instead & am really glad. Each of us can use their own coffee (I prefer flavored), the serving size is flexible, the coffee is whatever strength each person wants, plus it is always hot & fresh. It is quick & quiet, doesn't take up much counter space, & so far we are very pleased with it. We've been using it for about 3 weeks now, & plan to hang onto it.
