Customer Reviews for Capresso Capresso MT600 Plus 10-Cup Coffee Maker

Capresso Capresso MT600 Plus 10-Cup Coffee Maker

This 10-cup electronic coffee maker features a stainless steel thermal vacuum carafe with a drip-free pouring spout that keeps coffee hot for up to 4 hours. The convenient brew-through-closed-lid design keeps carafe closed, and the drip stop allows you to pour a cup while brewing. The stainless steel housing provides superior strength and style, and the stainless steel-lined heating system eliminates water contact with aluminum and reduces the need for decalcifying. Unit can brew 10 cups of coffee in under 8 minutes for maximum flavor and aroma, while special settings maintain aroma when brewing only 3 to 5 cups. Charcoal water filter removes up to 83% chlorine, and the electronic filter indicator shows when to replace the filter. Coffee maker also features a safety auto shut-off after brewing and 4-hour programmable clock/timer with easy to read LED display. Also includes permanent GoldTone filter that is easy to use and clean. 50-ounce capacity. One-year warranty. UL listed.

Just ran our new MT600 + this morning with coffee, after having run it twice yesterday water only (per Operating Instructions).
Coffee tasted great, was hot and stayed hot for 4+ hours.
Lot of Web Whining in recent reviews by people who could not be bothered checking Capresso web site re MT600+ features b/f buying and/or not willing to READ included Operating Instructions b/f attempting to operate.
Suggest Web Whiners buy their overpriced Morning Jo at Starbucks.

Can't put in dishwasher!

I bought this thermal carafe maker thinking it would make life easier by keeping my coffee hot throughout the day. Not so much. Coffee is lukewarm an hour after brewing. The pot is extremely hard to clean with a very narrow opening. Coffee often tastes "metallic" to me. Adding insult to injury, pot has to be hand washed...boo!

Hate this product

We don't think the coffee tastes any better than the Hamilton Beach we had. Coffee would only stay warm for about 30 minutes. Bought this because you can set time to come on in the morning. We would always fill pot with boiling water first. Always lined arrow up, and closed lid when done pouring. We gave this maker 3 weeks of brewing coffee everyday and it still isn't any hotter... Wish we could return and get our money back. Do not recommend this coffee maker to anyone who wants hot coffee longer than 1/2hour...

Good Brew

This brews a better pot of coffee from my two past Cuisinart's and not having to fight with the lid is a huge plus. I agree with others, it doesn't brew a full 10-cups, based on the mugs we use, but it is still sufficient for our daily needs. There is some sediment with the Gold Filter.Being able to see the water line on the side of the maker makes it so much nicer than having to look inside. Programming is super easy. Overall, I am very happy I made this purchase.

Listed as a ten cup but only makes 6 cups (48oz) so we often have to makea second pot. When using the gold mesh filter last few cups have sediment. So have gone back to a paper filter.

Great Tasting HOT Coffee

Previously, I had a Cuisinart 12-Cup, Programmable Grind and Brew Coffee Maker. I started looking for a new coffee maker because the removable grinder insert got stuck and I couldn't take it out to wash or clean. We got the coffee maker as a wedding present and had it for almost two years. My wife and I were happy with this coffee maker for some time because it was great having freshly grinded coffee.
With the above being said, I noticed right away but, it never really clicked until about 6 months ago that I was getting a plastic taste from the coffee...I had thought for the longest time it was because of the coffee milk flavoring.
To make a long story short, after reading a lot of reviews and seeing one of the reviews on the Capresso MT600 coffee maker and because our coffee maker essentially needed to be replaced, my wife and I purchased this coffee maker.
The Capresso MT600 is rather expensive for only a 10-cup maker and one that doesn't include a built-in grinder; however, the coffee comes out HOT!!! In addition, the coffee is so flavorful that I have to say, it's the best homemade coffee I have ever had!
In addition, my wife and I bought the Capresso Cool Grind Coffee and Spice Grinder for $19.99 and are very happy with it. The problem with the coffee makers with the built-in coffee grinder is that they tend to heat up the coffee beans which loses the taste and is probably why I was getting the plastic taste from my Cuisinart Coffee Maker with the built-in grinder as the removable grinder section was made out of a plastic material.
With all of the above being said, I highly recommend the Capresso MT600 Coffee Maker...it's the best money my wife and I have spent. If you're looking for HOT, flavorful coffee, this is the coffee maker for you. Please make sure that you read the instructions prior to use.

This is my 2nd Capresso; had one many years ago.
It was my many fond memories of it - and intervening experiences of disappointments from other machines - which caused me to seek it out.
Neat, clean, a small-footprint on the kitchen counter, and glorious coffee!

A factual review

I carefully researched this product before purchases as I always do on all my purchase. I read some bad reviews as well as some good reviews.
Here is what I found to be factual about the product. I switched from a Vojirushi coffee maker due to inadequate water temp. It will now be used to brew tea. The Capresso declares on its own website that all their coffee makers attain a 200 deg water temp . It did in fact hit that area, something my previous coffee maker could not do, however, not during the entire brewing process. Still it was adequate to make a good cup of coffee. There is only one brand (Techivorm) that hits the mark on constant water temp and it is significantly more expressive than the MT600. You get what you pay for, but I am pleased with the MT600.
The thermal carafe is no more effective than other stainless thermal carafes but it is adequate as long as you do not require a period over two hours. The more coffee you make the longer it will stay warm. Pre-heating the carafe with hot water also helps. This is my third thermal carafe coffee maker and they all are about the same. The only reason I buy thermal carafes is because they do not break like the glass carafes. Frankly, I use another glass lined thermal carafe that holds temp up to 8 hours so it is not a concern to me.
The 3 - 5 cup setting slows the brew process and is really functional and produces better coffee on short pots.
I have read complaints about the carafe not pouring well. It might be they simply do not align the lid to the pour position as it pours perfectly when this is done.
Filling the tank is easy enough as long as you are not trying to use the carafe to do so. The carafe too bulky for this process and frankly it would cool the carafe hampering its effectiveness in keeping the coffee warm. Just don't do it. Use a slim container to pour your water into the tank. Water level markings are very easy to see as they use a bold dot, the first is 4cups and then each dot after that is an additional cup until you reach ten.
Brewing time is appropriate for what is required to make a good cup of coffee. Brewing too fast or too slow will ruin an otherwise decent cup of coffee. That is one of the problem with a Bunn, it is entirely too fast for good coffee. For special times I use a press pot which is the uncontested best way to brew a premium cup of coffee.
The MT 600 is well constructed and functions as declared as long as you follow the instructions and do not try to re-invent the wheel. I am constantly amazed how people complain about products they use incorrectly.
I have used this coffee maker for only a week, so the long term service is still to be termed, otherwise I recommend it. I could have had 5 stars rather than 4 but that would have cost me another $100 or so. This will do very well thank you.
