This is a great deal. I went to BB&B prepared to buy a 300$ comforter and when I compared it to this It felt like a no brainier at 200$ less! However, when I took it home and put it on my king sized mattress it did not fit. It was too short to cover mattress. I compared the dimensions to other down comforters and found that the more expensive ones had an extra 10 inches in width usually. So I'm bringing mine back but I would definitely recommend this if you have a queen sized bed - just buy the king.

My wife and I purchased this comforter around three weeks ago and we are in love! It is the best comforter I have ever bought by far. It's plush, soft, and will keep you warm. I saw a complaint about the softness of the outside of the comforter. It does crinkle a tad and it is a little rough on the outside but I actually prefer a cover like this. If it's too soft, I don't want it! Couple this with some good sheets and a mattress pad and you've got yourself a great night's sleep!!

Soft and fluffy

I was amazed to find this quality of down comforter for a King for this price. The 350 count cover does not allow any down to come through. Also, I never felt any quills when fluffing it which I did find in one from another well known place which cost more and was never this light and fluffy. It is cold here and I keep our bedroom pretty cold by most peoples standard (58-62F) and it is perfect-light and yet just the right amount of warmth and I am a hot sleeper. Yes, it does have an initial chemical odor-don't know what could cause that-kind of like "new car" smell! I followed instructions I found when I Googled about how to get the most loft from a new (or older) down comforter because they are not lofty right out of the bag. Then I spritzed the inside of my dryer with freshener and put a few clean balls and the comforter in on the fluff (low/no heat) for a while to get some of the "new car" smell to disapate. I always use a duvet cover which adds that extra level of protection. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with this! Enjoy!!

This was my first down comforter purchase. The price was certainly reasonable, however it was not the softness I was wanting.
The material is crinkly and paper sounding. It feels soft but rustles when moved about.
It does not smell good.
It is dry clean only. I want something I can throw in the wash with some nice smelling detergent.
I'm 45 and have the heat issues and I think this would be too warm for me during the winter.
This one wasn't for me.

I just bought it and I was in doubt if was going to be as good as the one that I bought 2 years ago for my bed. When I got home I compared the labels and was the same manufacturer as Royal Velvet, so I can tell that is a good one. I had mine for more than two years and is in a perfect condition, of course I have it with a duvet cover. It is warm enough for Houston's winter and to use with the air conditioning in summer.

Best Bang for the Buck

After searching online at various down websites and going through their instructions for choosing the right down comforter "for my needs", I then compared "the right one" to this BB&B $99 one. It was nearly identical, with a few less ounces. I bought one of BB&B's flannel duvet covers to go with it. After stitching on some ties to keep the comforter in place in the duvet cover, my 11-year-old son tried it out. Now this boy is not a hot sleeper, but not cold,and our house gets down to about 62 at night in the winter, and he was perfectly warm in this (might have to store it in summer.) I bought the comforter for this little boy because he never uses the top sheet, but just thrashes everything off except for the top comforter, which is too big for my washer/dryer to accomodate! Also, he's in the top bunk and, let me tell you, it's brutal making up that bed. So I thought if I bought a good, warm down blanket with a washable duvet cover as his only covering, it would solve all my problems. And it did! I gave this product four stars because it's made in China, andit didn't have any way to attach it to a duvet cover, but the down just molds naturally around his little skinny body and makes a really simple bedding arrangement.
