I agree only slightly with the posters who wrote it catches wind easily. I think the shape is a little awkward and makes it a little top-heavy. Maybe the pole should have been larger? Aside from that, I really love it! I purchased it as my patio table is rectangular and very long. This umbrella covers the entire table and the tilt is very nice (this is where I think it's a little top-heavy if breezy). I love the lights at night. I think this was a great purchase overall as I got it on sale and was able to use coupons to reduce the price even further.

I've had the umbrella for a month now and have not encountered any problems. I don't know what happen to the person who complained, but the wind doesn't cause me any ssues. I also like to say, that the cost makes this a great deal.

With the slightest breeze the entire umbrella and base almost blew in my pool. This is with the base packed with wet sand and an addition 50 lb bag of sand and two blocks on top. The manufacture says fill the base with 200 lbs of wet sand but it will only hold 125 lbs. I spent extra money and purchase better hardware using stainless steel bolts, nuts and lock washers to secure the cross base. The base bent with the slightest breeze. I'm confident that even if I bolted the base to my pool deck, The wind would mangle the umbrella with no problem. I returned this garbage the very next day. Don't waste your time and money with this poorly designed product, Unless your going to set it up indoors with zero wind. Not to mention it scratched my newly painted pool deck. I had high hopes for it but am very disappointed.

I first saw this product at my sister's home. Two days later we bought one, followed instructons and It is a good value for the money. As with all outdoor items we are conscious of weather conditions but on a breezy day it sways as expected with a cantilevered item and no more than our other patio umbrellas over the years.

I purchased this item even after reading the other reviews, as people tend not to post when they are happy with a product. Out of stock at my store, but it was ordered and delivered free to my door in about 3 days. With coupon, it was 240...very good deal. very easy to assemble. needed 110 lbs of play sand to fill the base, then added the water. that thing isn't going anywhere!
Light breezes didn't do much...yes, a little sway of the canopy, not base or pole. Canopy must have some 'give' or it would be less stable. Purposely left it up through the night with stronger breezes...was not a bit worried that it might collapse. Everything seemed perfectly fine for me, the little lights worked just fine, love there is an on/off switch. Maybe others got a bad batch?? I am very pleased. Lots of shade coverage. Any changes and I will update this review.

Ordered this item via the 800#. Assembled (by 2 people) on 5/16/2012. One of the 16 plastic wing nuts was missing. Not available in local hardware store, so called Customer Service who promised to send replacements. Seemed to work perfectly and looked great. On 5/18/2012 in the afternoon there was a slight breeze so tried to close the umbrella. It was stuck in the open position. 5/19/2012 called the 800#--was told go ahead and destroy the umbrella, but ALL parts must be returned or delivered to nearest store in order to receive credit. Called Santa Rosa store manager who advised, "Bring back as much as you can." He offered to order a replacement, but I declined. Two people managed to destroy the canopy, and dismantle the remaining parts. The 200 lbs of wet sand had not yet completely set, so I was able to empty (10 partial loads in a bucket to reduce weight). In the end, threw all the pieces in old Volvo wagon and delivered to Santa Rosa store for credit. Lots of metal parts encased in cheap plastic. Too bad--a great idea, but cheaply made (in China--where else!)

Horrible Umbrella

VERY poor quality/craftsmanship. Aside from the fact that the solar lights never worked. I purchased this umbrella based on size & price compared to other retailers. After a few weeks of use I made the mistake of leaving it open on a day of light breeze. The canopy swayed as though a tornado was overhead. a few days later, the metal swivel point holding the canopy crumbled to pieces & the umbrella came crashing down. Luckily nobody was sitting beneath it at the time. Buyer beware...

Woefully under engineered. Slight breezes make you wonder if it will collapse. I doubt it will last through the summer. Retailers should be ashamed to be selling any merchandise such as this, especially for the marked price.

Easy to put together, however, the canopy part was extremely unstable. Very poor craftsmanship! The canopy teetered from side to side in the 'very light' breeze... We disassembled it within 10 minutes of putting it up. Would not recommend this product at all!

At the BB&B store the umbrella looked fairly sturdy; however when we got it home and set it up it was very flimsy. Specifically, the arm holding the umbrella has a weak joint point (this connection came preassembled) and does not hold the umbrella steady. It rocks wildly back and forth with the slightest breeze!
