Works like it's supposed to. Made a polka dot cake for adults and it went over big! Definitely not just for kids. Used boxed white cake mix & Wilton colors. Will add flavorings next time for a kick.

I am not a baker, but just bought the Babycakes Cake Pop Maker yesterday, used it last night, and felt like I was. I googled tips and found that if using a box mix, add a box of pudding, use 1/2 the amount of liquid and use milk instead of water and add an extra egg. I made red velvet cake balls, and they turned out beautifully. The cake balls are baked in about 2 to 3 minutes. I turned off the machine to add the batter, then closed it, and turned it on, 2 or 3 minutes later, perfect balls. I also have the Wilton Chocolate Melter, which makes covering the balls a breeze. The size is perfect. I stopped putting them on sticks and just let them cool on parchment paper. I will put each little bite in a small cupcake paper and serve them that way. Very, Very Happy. Looking fowardard to making these for the holidays

Bought it today and made the red velvet cake pops. They came out great! I also bought the cupcake pen and it was a great tool to use with the machine. Can't wait to try different flavors and make pancake balls for breakfast!

A birthday gift for my daughter. She had to return it as it quit working after just one batch of cake pops. The rest of the batter went in the garbage. Even the store did not question the return. She used the credit for something else. Sad about this one.

I really like this product. I purchased cake ball pans from an online company and it's good, but the balls are too big, it's messy, and a pain to have to clean the pan before I can make a second batch. The Babycakes is great because it's a good one-bite treat, there's no need to wash it before making the next batch, and it's fast. Plus your kitchen wont get hot in the summer since the oven isn't on. I've tried using a box mix and it's ok, but you won't get round balls if you make it according to the box. You'll need to modify the mix by adding an extra egg and cut out about half the water. You only need to do this if you really want round balls or you're planning on making real pops because the balls need to be a bit dense for it to hold on to the stick and stay on during the dunking into the candy melts. Also, I HIGHLY recommend you get one of those pancake batter squeeze bottles because you want to get the batter in fast or else the ones you put in first will burn by the time you get the last one filled.

I got this for my sister, she says it works about like a waffle baker, and that you should use just a little less batter than the directions say. Our very hungry catepillar cake-pop cake came out wonderfully! It tasted great too.

I started making the cake pops by hand (with cake batter from scratch or a box and adding the frosting to hold them together), but didn't care for the taste of frosting in my cake. Never mind that it was very labor intensive. I bought this appliance to try and discovered that I can make up to 48 balls with just one box of mix and no frosting! Perfect if you want to make a fancy treat for a school bake sale or a party but don't have the time to craft them all by hand. Two tips... First, definitely use a pastry bag to fill the machine so you don't have batter everywhere. I use the Wilton cake decorating gun that looks like a cookie shooter- it's perfect for this. Second, If you use a box mix- to reduce the water or add additional dry mix so the balls have the right consistency and come out nice and firm. You do need to fill the machine just about to the top as well. Four minutes and they are perfect. Freeze for half an hour and dip and your done. *Red velvet cake looks excellent dipped in green chocolate for the holidays.

I love love love this cake pop baker! I have made fat free doughnut holes, home made corn meal balls aka "Corn Balls", they take 4 to 6 minutes and yummo! I have also used boxed Brownie mix just to test them out... those were tasty too! The recipes in the Manual have turned out tasty so far! If you don't care for the pre-chewed too much frosting cake pops... then you will love these!
This unit is very easy to clean... and fun to use!

Got this little gem with a coupon and felt like I won the lottery (it's the little things, right?)! Have made tons of cake pops and have been totally pleased with how well this product works! Two birthday parties down and both kids (and mom) love these cake pops - so easy and fun!

I bought this machine after eating a bunch of cake pops at Starbucks. The results aren't like Starbucks's at all, but I use the recipes in the included booklet and my pops are perfectly round every time. I think the reviewers giving negative reviews are using regular cake mix, which just won't work. They are more like doughnut holes (in fact, some of the recipes in the booklet are for doughnut holes). The favorite so far has been the vanilla cake (or doughnut flavor according to friends) with white chocolate coating (just white Ghirardelli chips melted in double-boiler) sprinkled with toffee chips. So good!!
HINT: Use included batter recipes and dispense batter with pastry bag or plastic bag with the corner cut off. The cups must be neatly full to get round pops.
I'm going to buy the mini-pie maker today. Fun!

I went into this purchase knowing I would not be making "traditional" cake pops. This little device performs exactly as described. If you follow the recipes in their book or experiment with different boxed cake mixes, you will end up with the great results. A fantastic little device for the beginner chefs, especially children (with supervision, of course!). I will be purchasing the pie maker next.

This thing is horrible! I received this as a gift and was so excited. What a disappointment! The cakes are very small (about the size of a quarter). And are not round but more saucer like in shape. Some are over cooked and others are fine. But none are round and I tried different amounts per cup in hopes of getting it just right. I wouldn't buy this and if you get it as a gift exchange it for something that works

Better than any I can find.

The size is perfect for cake pops. They are just like the size you would find at Starbucks. Filling is super easy although I suggest you use a squeeze bottle like a pancake bottle dispenser because you want to be fast about it other wise the others will burn.
The bottoms definitely cook better than the tops. It's not a big deal as both sides are still cooked. If you want them a little brown on the top then just flip them with the tool provided.
The tool does work. I didn't trust it at first so I kept using the tool while holding a side with my finger (burning my fingers) there really is no need. The tool will pick them up easily once you get the hang of it.
There is no timer. So set a timer for about 4min. I also recommend to not use any cooking oil or spray until needed. I made six batches without any spray or oil and it worked perfectly.
for frosted cake pops I recommend candy melts. Icing just doesn't seem to work and if you microwave a can of frosting, it will just separate the oils.
The cake stand provided is perfect. I've yet to find a better one and this is the only cake pop maker that comes with a stand and tool.
