Not Enough Suction

The primary purpose for which I purchased this cordless vacuum was to remove dog hair from the interior of my car. However, this $200 vacuum does not even have enough suction to accomplish the basic task of hair removal from a rug. I would strongly urge anyone thinking about purchasing this item to reconsider.

After using my sister in law's DC34 I knew I had to have one. Well, I didn't stop with one - I had to buy a second one! I keep them in different areas of our house. We have 3 poodles that are in and out all day long... tracking grass & dirt onto the wood & tile floors. All I have to do is whip the hand vac out and it is all cleaned up!! Absolutely love it.

Great Vacuum

We received this vacuum as a wedding gift; it is a great little vacuum. Some people complain about the battery life; ours will last 30 minutes or so, which for me is fine because it's not like you vacuum the whole house with a hand vac! The person who said it lasts a minute either had a defective unit or was exaggerating!!
Some people say it doesn't have much suction but that's not true; it has picked up anything I've put in front of it so far. And, I've killed 5 vacuums in the past 2 years, so trust me, I can attest. I think what people respond to is that it doesn't feel like it has much suction. For instance, we have a B&D hand held vac and when you turn it on it feels different in your hand--it's like starting up an old truck compared to the Dyson, which feels quiet and gentle in your hand when you turn it on.
It works and I would recommend it. Think of it this way; if you buy it and truly hate it, Bed Bath and Beyond has an awesome return policy so you can always exchange it. Take a chance on it; I like it very much!

I was most impressed with the powerful suction and the low noise level. Excellent battery design, considering how much vacuum power is provided. Easy to use ! I have two Dyson large vac's this one is so easy to use in small areas and the suction is as stout as the larger vac's.The DC34 is a keeper!

I love this Dyson. I already had a large carpet vacuum for years have loved it. We bought this one to vacuum the car easily (we do not have a garage or electrical outlet), to get at spider webs high on the ceilings, kitty litter that sometimes gets scatter and all those little spills that are too small to bother getting the full sized vacuum.
This Dyson has superb technology. It assembles easily, it is light weight, easy to use and worth every single penny. We have used other hand-helds and have not found any of them anywhere equal to a Dyson.

Great idea, very powerful and light, easy to empty, goes anywhere, etc... BUT if Dyson worked through the PROBLEMS and solved them per their reputation of being thought leaders in this area, it would be 5+ stars instead of barely two.
The first one I got would shut itself off like 90% of the others wrote here, but after an hour with Dyson on the phone they had me bring it back to replace it. The new one has not shut off yet but we'll see when I clean the car with it tomorrow.
My girlfriend has had one for a long time and it has no problems, so there are some percentage of them out there that work ok - hope my second one is because I do like it otherwise.
Other faults - does not work when plugged in (huh?); battery life too short. These two work against each other.

This Dyson is very lightweight and the suction is very good. Easy to clean. If I have one complaint, it is that the battery doesn't seem to last very long. I just ordered an exta battery.

this product works for 3 minutes. then dead battery. called help line and they told me this is normal. called back and said this is just nuts. charge has to last more than 3 minutes. she said that is just the way it is and hung up. i will sell for 25 bucks. just know will run for 3 minutes then 8 hour charge.

I bought this product because my old dirt devil died. I was excited about all the great reviews Dyson receives on the majority of their products, and assumed that this product would exceed my expectations.

The charging time for this product is 3.5 hours. There are two power settings: max and normal. Using the product on Max outputs six (6) minutes, while Normal gives fifteen (15) minutes.

The product was easy to use and did a great job during the time that it held its charge. While not a huge deal for me (maybe a deal breaker for others), please note that the power "trigger" must be continually pressed for the product to function.

Conclusion: The suction on the normal setting less than adequate, which forced me to use the Max setting. As mentioned above, the Max setting only lasts for SIX minutes before requiring another 3.5 hour charge. Long story short - if you want to buy a Dyson product, try an upright.

I will have to return it to the store. A big hassle considering I ordered it 20% off and got free shipping so I could avoid the store. Thought about it for months and took the 200$ plus plunge. Now I get the wonder vac and it stops and starts, never has run consistently. Very frustrating and an all around disappointment. I will not try another one of it's kind.

My husband gave this to me for my birthday. Not a romantic or exciting gift at all. In face, I was mad. But that was a year ago, and I'm telling you, I LOVE this vacuum. No more dust pans for me. (Do dust pans ever really get all the crumbs? No.) I use this thing twice a day when I sweep my kitchen after my three kids have left their mark all over the floor. I use it in my car, on the sofa, in drawers, and my favourite application... for sucking up bugs! (There are some vicious-size spiders in my house.) Yes, if you took this away from me, I would be a very unhappy camper. Expensive, I realize, but what a fun and convenient tool for keeping my world tidy. AWESOME gift for a man too as my hubby uses it too!
