My Christmas gift unit to my Fiancé was broken out of the box. Great product PR. Waiting for the replacement. Don't have high hopes. If you're willing to roll the dice and maybe get a functioning unit, be my guest. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of manufacturing disappointments. Time to vote with my dollars . . .

I wanted to love it.. we have the plastic bottle Soda Stream machine and love it, but I wanted to be able to use glass bottles. I have read many problems with the other glass bottle machine (The Penguin) and so I bought this model. The first machine was delivered within days of my BB&B order, but the lid didn't automatically open and close. I called Soda Stream and they confirmed it was defective "We have some of them that are," she said. They shipped a new one - two weeks later - and this lid worked only slightly better, plus the water shot out around the bottle during pressurization. I gave up and returned the system to BB&B. Back to plastic, I guess.

Exceeds My Expectations

I am so happy with this item!
When grandkids were here, which is often, I was constantly throwing away half empty cans. I even tried buying the small cans, but they are so expensive.
This Sodastream is wonderful. No waste at all.
My main concern had been that they would drink more sodas than before because of the novelty. Not so. In fact, the grandson that always had a can in his hand seems to drink less, even though he says he likes the soda as well as the canned ones.
I haven't tried the Sodastream syrups. I bought a bag of Coke syrup. It taste just like the "real thing".
I love the glass bottles, too. I actually prefer the ones that are bought separately, rather than the one that comes with the Sodastream. The top is easier to screw on.
I also like that the glass bottles are smaller than the plastic ones that come with other models. It seems they should keep their fizz longer. I know a 2 liter from the store will often go flat before we drink it all. We've not had one of the Sodastream bottles go flat yet.
I bought extra bottles and keep them in the fridge filled with cold water. Glad I did, because having only one would be a problem. How many extras you need depends on your usage.
I would definitely recommend this!

Fun & Fantastic

This soda stream was a great purchase and I am so happy I chose the glass bottle one. It is easy to use and I now never run out of sparkling water. The bottle has a pressurized top that keeps the water carbonated for days. All my guests want to be the ones to create the sparkkling water because it is fun to do. I personally don't use the flavorings to make "pop" but have come up with a natural recipe for the kids. I use a bit of fruit juice concentrate and add that to the carbonated water and VOILA we have soda pop. I highly recommend this product.

The results are as expected; fizzy water, I which first put through my in-line filtration system. I like the glass bottle. I bought an additional one that has a regular screw-on cap, whereas the one that came with has this odd slide-on-then-screw-down top.

I recommend having an extra bottle or maybe saving recyclables with a strong cap, because the capacity of this bottle seems small. I just use a funnel and refill my old empties. I'm really hoping I can wean da man off the imported stuff...

MINE MIGHT BE DEFECTIVE!! in case anyone out there is reading this: something is lose in the latching mechanism. I can't open or close it unless I'm pressing the top part in one direction and the lower part in another. If it doesn't come out of the box feeling "solid", take it back now and avoid the inertia...

The soda stream system is fun to use, and if you drink a lot of soda or seltzer water, then it's a wise investment. Getting new carbonation cartridges through the mail is easy, and if you send back your old one, than it's less expensive than buying a new one each time. Also, you get to control how much fizz goes into your soda.
