I finally broke down and got a stand mixer after my little handheld finally broke. I prefer a glass bowl but overall I chose this mixer after looking at all the reviews. I couldn't see paying another 50-100 for a kitchenaid just because it had doodads I won't even use.
This is easy to use and I like that the cord stores inside. The scraper mixer is okay, not great at scraping but mixes just fine. I haven't used the other attachments yet. That is why I only gave it a 4.

My husband bought me this mixer as a push present, after apparently carefully researching all stand mixers currently on the market... And the reviews were correct! Among its best attributes, this mixer is sturdy, incredibly easy to clean, and extremely user-friendly. I love that it has a lock to keep the top from falling down while I'm switching out the beaters or adding ingredients. The "no spatula needed" feature is much less frustrating than the other stand mixers on the market... I've had friends complain that they dislike not being able to scrape the sides while the mixer is on-- with this feature, it's not a problem. The digital timer and speed gauge add very convenient luxuries to the mixer; I love not having to set a timer while I'm combining ingredients.
And there are lots of other little things they added to make it easier to use-- a grip on the plug to keep you from eventually stripping the plastic on the cord from its wires, a handle on the bottom to easily grab it and move it across the counter, super easy-to-switch accessories, it's programmed to keep you from raising the speed too quickly so it won't easily break down, it's very quiet, the attachable splatter shield is awesome, and the brushed steel is beautiful and looks great in our kitchen... Just to name a few features.
Bottom line: Breville thought of everything, and I LOVE this mixer!

For the past 8 yrs I have used a classic KA mixer. It was a sad day when mine died. I quickly went out to see which one I would replace it with. I was surprised at some of the reviews I was reading. After reading and searching many (and I mean MANY) reviews, I decided to go with the Breville. ( I drove my kids and my hubby crazy with my two week research mission! ) This mixer looks great on my counter. I love the style and the size. It is much quieter than my old mixer. I love the first level of mixing. My flour stays in the bowl! Did I mention it was quiet? :)
I have owned it for about 1 - 1 1/2 months now and I have made about 8 double batches of chocolate chip cookies in it. I have used and really like the paddle attachment when making the dough. It is a bit larger than my other mixer's attachment. It cleans easily and I like the quality of it. When mixing the dough I didn't find there was any problem and everything mixed up very well. The auto shut off did happen when my older daughter (12 yrs) was mixing the dough for me. I was telling her how to use it and she turned the knob to the level she thought would be good and just as I was telling her it sounded a little slow for what she was mixing. It shut off. Great feature! So I got out the book and it said to turn it to the off position and then unplug the unit and then plug it back in and turn back on. Worked perfectly fine!!
Another thing that I LOVE about this mixer is twisting the bowl out from the base. My other mixer I use to fight with twisting it out. Even had to have hubby hang on the to actual machine while I fought with the bowl part!! With this bowl I can easily use one hand to turn the bowl out.
I really LOVE this mixer. Very happy I purchased it. I hope my new stove comes soon because I am going through mixer withdrawals!

We went with Breville, even though I hadn't heard of the brand before, since I wasn't a fan of KitchenAid but there aren't many choices out there. I LOVE it! It has a ton of accessories, not as expensive as KitchenAid, and comes in the stainless steel that matches all our other appliances. We've had it 4 months and have liked everything about it. My mother made meringue for pie last night and was SUPER impressed with the ease and quality of the whipper. Highly recommend this product!

I did a lot of research before deciding on this mixer. So far, I am really impressed with it. I have made wheat bread, cookies, and whipped cream with great success. The appliance looks great on the counter and is easier to move around than the KA mixer. I will admit that the head of the mixer does move around a bit and it will heat up slightly when mixing heavy doughs, but I haven't had the mixer shut itself off. Overall, I am really happy with this mixer. The scraper blade works really well.

I had used the same Sunbeam stand mixer for 38 years and was happy with its performance. It still works. If newer models with more features had not been advertised so heavily I would still be using that mixer. However, I was sold by the larger bowls, the timers, and especially the promise of being able to use the mixer with heavier doughs. Stirring heavier batters gets harder as one ages. I read the description for the Breville800 and it said that it could mix meatloaf dough and cookie dough. Thr first time I used it I was making a pound cake and used the blade that scrapes the bowl, another feature whichs old me on the Breville over the Kitchenaid and Cuisinart. The mixer immediately froze up. I put on the heavier blade and it froze up as well. My husband was able to jiggle it or something that got it to work. Pound cake batter is not that heavy. The next time I tried a meatloaf using the heavier beater. It immediataely froze up so I actually tried the dough hook. No luck. Finally I took it out and used my hands to mix the meat loaf. So I made a regular cake mix cake, thinking that if the scraping blade could not do that I would send it back. It worked beautifully with the cake mix batter. However, I know what is going to happen with the chocolate chip cookie dough when I try it. I will send the mixer back if it cannot mix cooke dough as advertised. I almost bought the Kitchenaide or the Cuisinart, but opted for the Breville because ads stated that it was strong enough for the meatloaf and cookie dough and also because Consumer reports rated it tops. I am not sure how it got this rating from Consumer reports.

This is an update to my previous post, as well as my 1st time using it. Awesome!!!! I just made a double batch of bread dough & it handled it great. Didn't jump around the counter & didn't overheat or shut off. This is a wonderful mixer. I'm glad I decided to purchase it v/s the KA.

I've done a lot of research on Stand Mixers & determined that this was the best. I read a lot of bad reviews about KA. I just purchased this & set it up on my counter. Can't wait to make a loaf of bread or something. I will let you know how well it works, as I was a little leary of such a big purchase if I can't use it to make bread. I did ask the girl at the counter when I was purchasing it... she said not to worry, that they haven't had any returned - & if for any reason I don't like it or something goes wrong with it, I have up to 5 years to return it to them for a full refund (with receipt) - without receipt they will give you store credit - but still... how great is that, no fuss no muss. As soon as I use it, I will update this. Have a great one. I'm gonna go make some bread :):)

Best mixer ever!!

Just got this out of the box this weekend. Have already made muffins, bread, and brownies. OMG, this is the best machine ever. I can start it and just walk away and clean up kitchen or put ingrediants away. It did bawlk a little when I added the choc chips, but I had it on slow speed and short time. No biggie. I bought a pro machine from KA and hated it. Took it back and the sales person was shocked. No one ever returns these!! I am so happy that this new machine has the tilt feature. Very quiet and smooth. Love, Love, Love the scraping beater. I think I said something about that a couple years ago, glad someone was listening. DO NOT BUY A KA, THIS IS SO SO SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!! Love the timer and lights on the side to tell you exactly what speed you kneed for the job. Use your coupon for this purchase for sure!!

I have owned this mixer for 3 months. Prior to that, I had done a LOT of research comparing the Scraper Mixer Pro to the KitchenAid Artisan.
It is a solid piece of machinery. Sturdy. Well-built. It is a heavy mixer, around 16 pounds, but it is still lighter than the Artisan.
I use it about once a week (mostly cheesecakes), without a single complaint. It does not "dance" across the counter, even at top speed. The scraper paddle is efficient, cutting down on scrape-down time by about 90%.
I wish I had known of the Breville Scraper Pro sooner, because I would have bought this mixer years ago.

Everything about this mixer is intuitive. The bowl scraper is long overdue, I'm not sure why someone didn't do this a long time ago.
My venerable KitchenAid now has a happy home with my daughter.

No Mixed Feelings

This Breville mixer is an exceptional product. Sturdy, well-built, very nice fit and finish, flawless function, whisper quiet as mixers go, and stylish. The BEM800XL mixer is exactly as Breville describes it with no hype or exaggeration. It just performs beautifully and has met our every expectation.
What it is, is a mixer, a single purpose tool that comes in one attractive color, and gives you everything you need and nothing you don't. What it is not is a Swiss Army knife, available in more colors than a Buick, on which to hang expensive attachments in the hope of being all things to all people. The Breville does one thing, and it does it extremely well.
Delivered just a few weeks ago, my wife has used it to make a half-dozen cheesecakes and an angel food cake or two thus far. She raves about the Breville and has found that it's helped her cut her prep time nearly in half as compared to the vintage Mixmaster she had been using.
We love the simplicity of the electronic speed control, the retractable cord and how the bowl locks securely into the base. The scraper beater helps a great deal....yes, scraping is still required for some mixes, but far less of it than with conventional beaters. The splatter shield is just 'okay'....adding dry ingredients to the bowl with it in place can be cumbersome, not unlike it is with other mixers. But I'll be baking cookies tomorrow, so maybe I'll change my tune if it prevents a bowl full of flour from being thrown around the kitchen.
In short, we couldn't be more pleased with the product and with our purchase. We feel the Breville stand mixer offers a great deal of value. In this day and age of paying more and getting less, it's a nice feeling to get what you pay for, and we've seen nothing so far to indicate that this mixer won't be with us for many hundreds of cheesecakes and thousands more cookies to come.
I highly recommend this product. Thanks Breville and BB&B.

I have been married for 35 years and have never owned a stand mixer. I decided to buy this because of the great review that it had. Another well known brand had so many bad reviews that I was afraid to purchase that brand. I have used the Breville mixer only once for I've not owned it that long but I was extremely pleased with the way it operated. It is very sturdy and modern in design. I especially like the timer. It's soooo easy to use! It comes with four attachments, too. I highly recommend this stand mixer.

BREVILLE STAND MIXER

hehehehe..............I'm still chuckling to myself because I made possibly one of the smartest purchases ever! This BREVILLE STAND MIXER is simply AWESOME! I'm not here to criticize the other famous stand mixer that has been around for years (KA) but this BREVILLE just blows away the competition. First of all it has a 1 year REPLACEMENT WARRANTY, which I doubt very seriously that will be needed. This BREVILLE has a digital timer and speed indicator that no other compares to. I have a commercial cup cake company and make 100 to 200 cup cakes PER DAY! I can set this digital timer and actually talk on the phone standing next to the BREVILLE, it's that quiet....try that with a KA, YOU CAN'T DO IT because the KA is extremely NOISY! There are too many advantages of the BREVILLE over the competition to mention here.....but one accessory I love is the mixing blade that has the hard rubber edge that swipes the sides of the stainless steel bowl absolutely clean with every swipe of the blade! The machine is extremely QUIET even at full speed.....doesn't jump around the counter like some do.....has a GREAT spill and pour shield but it's not even necessary at FULL SPEED, everything stays in the bowl due to the mixing pattern of the head. The excess cord stores inside the rear of the mixer so you don't have any cord laying around the machine on the counter. There is an "indentation" in the base at the rear so you can actually pick up the mixer also using the nice handle on the power head. I cannot say enough about this GREAT BREVILLE STAND MIXER!
FORGET about the KA........it has too many negative reviews about the gears breaking, the noise that sounds like a freight train, having to continually scrape the sides of the bowl because it will not touch the sides, bad vibration and jumping around.........true, the KA has been around since 1907 or whatever, but they ARE NOT the same machines your Grandmother owned.........and one more point, look at the "build quality" of the BREVILLE compared to the KA......NO COMPARISON! The BREVILLE has a very cool, modern look.
I don't mean to knock the competition, but that's what this BREVILLE is competing against.
If you put the BREVILLE and a KA side-by-side you will choose the BREVILLE every time......not to mention the BREVILLE is a lower cost, so dollar for dollar it's a "no-brainer"!
And for full disclosure, I have NO relationship or affiliation to BREVILLE, I am just a VERY HAPPY OWNER! Don't take my word for it, look at all the 5 star reviews all over the internet, and while you're at it, look at the other BREVILLE products......BREVILLE IS IMPRESSIVE!
