Just love it. Would recommend turning off time projection
if it is near your bed so you don't have much light interfering with your sleep. The soothing sounds help so much to cover up background noises and help us sleep. Our dog loves it too!

Great Gift for husband, mom, and office co-worker

Good sound quality. The dimming clock works swell. It has the option to turn off the projection lighting. The radio works great. It's exactly what my husband needed. Purchased in 2010 for my mom too and for an office party. Haven't received any complaints and nothing but a bunch of compliments. It's been two years and still going strong. It is a great buy for price and quality.

Made the room too bright. Projection does not rotate forward enough. It did however have good sounds.I need the whole package, good sounds and a projection that does not light up the room. I had a no name projection clock (projected time in red) which did not light up the room and was easy to read. It also rotated far enough foward so you did not have to look behind you. It was 8 yrs old and bit the dust. That's why I am looking to replace. This one is not it. I' ll keep searching.

This is a very poor quality product. The alarm could only be set once--it would not let me change the alarm set time. I then tried to clear the alarm by removing the battery and clearing everything. Not only would the alarm still not reset, but the time and date would not set either. Typical chinese made garbage. This product is so bad that Michigan based HoMedics must know that it is bad and not care.

Sound & projection is trap for bad product

Homedics used sounds & projection to sell a bad quality product. We set the alarm & it did not go off (same problem as other reviews), the button labels are very hard to read (grey print on dark grey background) we have to pick it up and turn it towards the light to barely read it. Definitely not worth the price tag. Not worth anything to us without the alarm working. Sorry we bought it!

I got this to replace a Radio Shack product that lasted me ten years before it bit the dust. So my expectations might have been a little high. When the snooze button broke the morning after I brought it home I had a bad feeling, but I decided to use the radio alarm to wake myself up gradually instead and that has actually worked out very well until today. I was impressed that the unit automatically detected my time and displayed it immediately. I was less impressed when the time went off by about five minutes, but I learned to work with it. (I do not know of this mythical instruction manual some other reviewers have mentioned, gremlins must have removed it from my box). Now, today, the time went off by almost an hour and wound up waking me up an hour early. I didn't realize it right away so I didn't go back to sleep. This is on the weekend so I'm not real pleased by that turn of events. The ceiling cast light works fine on my model, and has come in handy a few times when I've watched horror movies late at night and gave myself the willies. It is kind of blobby and hard to read though. I wouldn't want to use it to actually tell time. The one thing this unit does very well is sound. The radio sounds great, and the nature effects are quite impressive. My old Radio Shack, stalwart that it was, was very obviously on a loop and I would start to be able to recognize the repeated sounds when I would play a nature effect. The Homedics nature recordings are much better, it is more difficult to catch the repeated sounds so it sounds more natural. If I can fix the time issue I'll keep using it, but I do wish I had gone with another model.

I was reading some of the reviews about a recent purchase I had picked up at a local bed bath and beyond store. I had came across this review which caught my eye right away and this is exactly what I was thinking. The review from seemelater is so right with this product. Thank you for your input about this product. I agree 100% and in your exact words as well. I went to use the alarm clock and I could not turn it the right way so i could not see what time it was in the early am. Plus the clock face isnt very big and when there is light in the am you cant hardly see the projection. I will be buying the other clock that I saw thats in the shape of a tear drop and that one looks far more better even though it may be a bit more expensive it looks like a much better buy. I was truely dissapointed with the way this alarm clock functioned this morning. Dont buy it!

I bought this clock cause of my Tinnitus. There is ONLY 2 settings for the light..bright or brighter! The volume control or lack of was POOR, it would work SOMETIMES. Then the time projection was not set correctly, so if the projection is on, you had to turn the clock almost sideways to see it lined up right on the ceiling. I now have something else and I can sleep since I do not have a clock GLARING at me even on low setting.

This product REQUIRES proper Documentation!

This device may have potential. However, the documentation that comes with it is AWEFULE, AWEFULE, and AWEFULE. Did I mention that the documentation is completely useless? The instructions point the buyer to buttons that do not exist.
You cannot properly program this device without help from the vendor's support line. For me, that made the unit cost much more than the retail price.
Homedics - wake up and update your documentation! What is placed in the box is simply incorrect and unacceptable.
We're busy. Without good documentation your product has NO value!

Great if using for a sound machine with a clock

Ok, I get it. It's not perfect and you might want a clock that is perfect. After purchasing three different sound machines that all broke within a few months, we bought this and now we have two of them. Our kids fall asleep to a sound machine so this particular model has done its job as far as we are concerned. We don't care that it is a few minutes off because I'm not using the clock to time contractions or something serious, it's just helps me have a general idea of what time it is if I'm up feeding a baby or changing a diaper. Yes, the backlight is bright even on the 'low' setting so we face the clock toward the wall. Problem solved. We don't use the radio so no problems there (though one picks up AM signals great and the other does not). We don't use the ceiling projection b/c our kids are too small to read the time and it seems pretty pointless for small kids. We don't use the alarm b/c our kids were born with a natural and automatic timer built in. Basically this is a glorified sound machine for us and we're happy with that. With the other Homedics sound machines we bought they would cut off in the middle of the night or even switch from one sound to the next which would wake our kids up. This has worked for us flawlessly for the past year or more and like I said, we have two. Maybe you want more out of your clock/radio but for us, this is PERFECT.

People need to read the instructions before complaining about the time being inaccurate. My time was off by a half hour, but I checked the booklet, and followed the simple instructions to correct the problem. The time is now correct. I'm using this as a sound machine for my baby girl's room. You can set a timer so it will go off after a certain period, or leave it running through the night as I do. I liked that it was a battery powered AND plug in sound machine, so I don't waste so much on batteries. There are six sounds - I prefer the rain or waterfall sounds for the background noise in her room. I especially liked that the volume control is a dial, not a button, so I can get the volume level just right for her.

TIME IS INACCURATE

I bought this clock about 6 months ago. The time was about 5 minutes off and there is no way to manually set the time. Now the time is 24 minutes off which is unacceptable for an alarm clock. I don't want to do math at 1 am figuring out what time it really is. I emailed the company and never received any response. I would NEVER recommend this clock it is HORRIBLE!

I was in love with this clock until the projection went out and it became my worst nightmare. I loved to look at the ceiling to see what time it was without having to twiat and turn at night but all of a sudden it was gone. I dont know what happend or why it went out but it is so nerve wrecking to purchase a product that only works for a little while

The display is too bright, even when dimmed. The battery backup does not work. The clock does not reset itself. The rear buttons are cumbersome. The projection is OK and waking to soothing sounds is its best feature. I'm looking for a new clock.

I used the alarm with the radio. It's only volume setting was LOUD. There was no way I could make it quieter. I don't know if there was a problem with my alarm clock or if that is the way it is. Also the projection didn't spin as far as it said it would so the numbers on the ceiling didn't face the direction I would like them to. I will be returning it.

Did I get the only clock that worked ??
I read these reviews and I cant believe we are talking about the same clock. I bought this for my wife Christmas 2010. She absolutely loves it. It has been flawless since it was first plugged in. The time changed for daylight savings time perfectly. The image it projects on the ceiling is perfect, once you adjust the focus. Has soothing sounds to put you to sleep. For the money, you cant beat it.

The only reason I was looking to purchase a new alarm clock was to get one with the new Daylight Savings Time change dates. I plugged this in and it was on fall back time from the old date change which was this weekend. Needless to say it is going back.

This is the second Homedics clock radio I've had that hasn't lasted a year. Like an earlier reviewer, the snooze button broke after limited use. I'll never buy another Homedics clock again.

I am slightly disappointed with this purchase, I was really excited about the time projection feature and it ended up projecting a lot smaller than I thought it would. It is really bright as well. However, it beats the clock we were using before so I guess I can't complain too much!

Loved it initially. However the snooze button has fallen into the casing and broken within 60 days. Not a good thing. The sounds are great, but the auto projection and clock even on lowest light setting emits a glow in the entire room. So unless you need a night light that sounds great and don't use a snooze ever, this may not be the one for you.
