The Mint® Automatic Robot Floor Cleaner uses the NorthStar® Navigation System to determine its location then builds a map of the area as it cleans, including walls, obstacles and drop offs. Although it doesn't vacuum and I still mop, it's excellent for keeping my floors clean in between cleaning. I really love how it gets under the furniture and with wood floors it keeps the dust from collecting. My husband is mesmerized and watches it the entire time!

I purchased the Mint Robot Cleaner a year ago. My wife loved it. Then it started running less and less on a charge till finally it would not run or hold a charge. I called the store I bought it from and they told me to call the Manufacturer. They told me to replace the battery in the unit for a cool $19.95. The unit still does not work. When I called them back to tell them the problem I was told that there was no parts to replace. They told me I would have to buy a new unit at full price. Be careful where you buy your unit. Make sure you get the warranty. You will need it.

When the unit does lock on the "GPS" system, the swept floor does look clearer than the area the unit didn't reach. But maybe because we have popcorn ceiling in some area, the unit doesn't always lock on the GPS system the first time, which makes it a bit frustrating. The trick might be not waiting too long before hitting the sweep/mop button after turning both the "GPS" and the unit on....
Also found hand towels to work with the unit instead of just the towels that came with the machine.

Why I bought the Mint

I have two dogs= HAIR. This is not going to scrub your floors but it does a great job of dusting ( ie: picking up hair). It is amazing how it works to get into all the nooks and crannys. I have not used the washing function yet but I am sure it will wet wipe the floor....(I would use its sweeping function first).
I did not buy a Roomba as I could not see how it would have the capacity in the tank for all the hair....the Mint uses microfiber cloths which flattens the hair and pushes it along. You can also use the Swifter or other brand duster cloths which make this very handy.
One caveat, watch it the first time as it can get stuck under a door and if you have recliner chairs lift up the leg rests otherwise the dog hair that gathers there will not be able to be swept up....the chair is too low to the floor for the Mint to get under it.

After 3 batteries, none lasting longer than a month, a dead docking station, and a failed sensor on my Roomba, I finally gave up on it. Just too expensive for the bad reliability. The Mint price was low enough to get me to venture into robot cleaners again, though I have not had it long enough to vouch for its reliability.

We have hardwood floors throughout the house with an occasional throw rug. I pick up the thinner rugs to shake outside and then leave them off the floor. I also move chairs out of the room to make the cleaning job easier. I have vaulted ceilings and high ceilings, but no problems. The Mint does not hang up on the thicker rugs, but rather treats them as obstacles, the same with the heat registers on the floor.

I'm so impressed with how quiet the Mint is; even our cat is not afraid of it. I like the methodical cleaning pattern rather than the random Roomba pattern. It does a great job of finding little hidden areas behind other things to clean. You can be sure it goes over every available space. When it is done, it stops and you can put it in another room, not guessing if there was enough time elapsed to finish the room like for the random pattern of the Roomba. Being so small, it gets to places the vacuum robots cannot reach.

I was concerned that the Mint might leave crud in various places as the pad filled up with dirt, but not the case and no worse than the Roomba.

Cleaning up the machine afterward is so much easier. No cleaning a filter, emptying a compartment & wiping it. No unwrapping hair from around a cleaning brush and the axles on the wheels. Just take the cloth off, shake it outside and throw it in the laundry. I have other micro fiber clothes and those work just as well.

I haven't tried mopping with it yet. That's just an extra benefit if it does well. I sure hope the Mint does not have failure problems.

the Mint was okay... but didn't do as much as I was hoping for. It just moved the dirt and dust bunnies around the floor, after it ran I had to go around and sweep up all of the little piles all over my kitchen. I didn't try the mopping part because I was so disappointed with the sweeping part. We returned this and purchased a Neato automatic vacuum and I am in love! Not only does it work great on my laminate floor (without leaving piles everywhere) but it also cleans all of my carpeted rooms! It's awesome!!!! Skip the Mint and go for the Neato!

After seeing the videos for this product, I had to have one. We have an English Bulldog that sheds, and drools leaving little stains on our hardwood floors. Mint (or "Rosie" as we call it, from the Jetsons) does a fine job of running around getting the daily stuff while I clean other things in the house. She's mopping as I write this review!

She goes around, and under furniture, then cleans around the baseboards. But, as others have mentioned, she's not a replacement for a good weekly cleaning. Just maintenance. And I've had no issue with battery life...she swept and mopped my kitchen area just fine, then tackled the great room. Great product! (and I'm one of those who don't write reviews, lol)

Those who are looking to replace the elbow grease of a 100+ pound human with a four-pound contraption are unreasonable and unrealistic. Anyone who knows machines will tell you how expensive a powerful precision instrument costs, let alone maintain. To think one can replace a human with a $200 gadget is insulting to all people who clean.

We have a relatively pristine home - we keep our shoes off, don't leave around debris, and we clean every week. We run Mint (yes, it's its name now) every evening in various parts of the house; the great room gets cleaned every other day (half one day, the other half the next). And even with this constant cleaning, every morning, I wake up both disgusted and delighted by how much stuff Mint has picked up on the Swiffer pad. It's almost like Mint is manufacturing the dust and dog fur itself - just mind boggling! It's hard to imagine how we had been content all those years with weekly cleanings!

Note, the Mint navigates via a cube that assesses your room by the area of the ceiling. This is why we clean the great room in two stages - because I imagine the cube cannot see around corners. Also, we do not use the mop feature; I just can't see something weighing four pounds doing the job to my satisfaction.

I'm pretty picky and don't give high marks easily. That said, if you have crumbs, dried up mud and gravels of dirt in your house, you're sure to be as disappointed in the Mint as your guests must be of you.

BTW, the person complaining about battery life should contact the company. I believe there's a one-year warranty.

We have hardwood floors through-out the first floor. LR, DR, MBD, Kitchen and 2 tiled baths, about 1500 sqf.
Only 1 room can be completed before the battery dies!
We recently discovered that we need to replace the batteries--guess what? Bed, bath and beyond doesn't carry them. So far the internet carries the size--but not the configuration! We need a brick, while flat packs are plentiful. Who knew!!!
