Love This Slow Cooker

I owned an old model of this "crock pot" bought in 1975, and it died in 2013 so I wanted the same model. It was updated a little, to the better, and I love it. It can be switched to a "warm" after you cook your food, if needed, and I love that feature. Plus, use the bottom for grilling- great for grilled cheese. So very happy with this product.

Best slow cooker I have ever owned!

When I first used this slow cooker I realized that I never really thought about how most crockpots are constructed. The heat is generated from the bottom of the pot as are all others EXCEPT this one is lighter in weight than the crockery insert type, and can be removed to brown the food beautifully on the stove before slow cooking. Also, when the food is cooked, I remove the pot, put it back on the stove or in the oven and use the grill bottom to heat tortillas or grill a companion food to round out the menu. I wish I had known about this style slow cooker years ago!

I have had the 5gt. for 35 yrs. It is wearing out, and I want this 6gt., but it is out of stock. My daughter had one also, and I replaced her with this one a couple of years ago. She loves it. Being able to brown on stove top, and then if you want you can put it in the oven, Then being able to have a small griddle. I make a lot of soups and stew. I have to find another one soon. The griddle, and interior are worn out.

Burned out light in read-out area.

I do like my West Bend slow cooker, BUT, the first time I used it, it already had a burned out light in the read-out area. I can't tell exactly how much cooking time is left because of the burned out light. Very annoying, but I hate to go through the hassle of returning it just for that. It bothers me a lot that a new item would come defective.

Being a Senior Citizen and physically challenged, including nerve damage in right hand, this is the easier style to use as the cooking pot is lighter and handles make it easier to hang on to. The base gives added dimension as well as the pot being able to sit on the stove, more temperatures available and looks good on my cabinet.

West Bend 6-Quart Versatility Slow Cooker

We had one that lasted 30 years. I found that West Bend still made a similar version of the origional. I bought it for my wife for Christmas. It came in a timely fashion and she loves it. It is updated but still has the same basic feature we origionally bought it for. It has the pot that can be removed from the base so you can start it on the stove and brown the meat and finish in the cooker, or you can take your pot off the base, put it on the stove to bring it to a hard boil for thickening gravey. It works great.

I purchased one of this item in 1981 and used for 30 years until I dropped it on the floor. Broke in many pieces. Oh my. So happy to be given another as Christmas gift.
Question, somebody: Do you carry the TOTE?
PLEASE HELP. I hope to use this another 30 years.

good slow cooker/griddle combo

Purchased to replace our older model westbend versatility slow cooker/griddle combo (a 5qt.), good slow cooker/griddle combo, though the older model provided for easier cleanup of the griddle ...i was able to rinse off the older model base, but likely wont attempt that with this newer version which has more plastic around the griddle base. Smelled like new burning plastic during first initial use, and the base gets a little warmer than i feel comfortable, but so did the old version i had for years, or any other slow cookers i've used for that matter.
