Meets MY Green Smoothie Needs!

Even though Consumer Reports had recommended this blender, and I had researched and decided, some of the reviews on this site gave me pause, but I'm so glad I went ahead and bought it a couple of days ago! My old Oster had broken and I was craving my morning Green Smoothie! I don't know why others had problems making theirs...? What I do with the Ninja is put all my frozen fruit in with the almond milk-I don't use ice, blend it on 3 and it whips it right up, nice and smooth. Then I add my kale, spinach leaves, cilantro, or whatever else to the mixture and just poke it down a little into the rest of the smoothie with a spoon, just a bit. The lid goes on and off EASILY, and the blades stay in place. Then I hit 3 again and all my greens get incorporated into the rest of the smoothie and volia`, morning heaven! Like I said, I was worried the Ninja wouldn't do "greens" after reading some reviews, but in my experience it does a great job with larger leaves and smaller pieces like parsley and cilantro too, blends them right up, I couldn't be happier so far ;) The end result is as someone said more of a pulpy texture, not smooth like gelato, but I like my smoothies this way.

Upgrade to Vitamix

I purchased this blender about 4 months ago and was impressed with how quick it was to crush ice in a smoothie. This blender gets used about 3 times a week for 2 minutes. Then, it didn't turn on. It was plugged in and no power, no blinking red lights, no red light at all. I unplugged it for about 3 hours as there was a fuse warning on the cord, but to no avail. I contacted the company but no one got back to me. I will be upgrading to the Vitamix.

The ninja wasn't capable of grinding the almonds and flax seeds I put in my morning smoothy. The blades sit to hi and the material gets caught in the square corners. Took it back after 3 failed morning breakfast shakes.

I just want to start by saying I looked high and low for the best blender for a good price. I also read all of the reviews on this blender and others.. I must say I'm SO Happy I went with the Ninja it makes a great smoothie in no time at all. it chops all the ice,Berries you will have no chunks unless you want them. I had read bad reviews about the lid but I have had no problems with it. My family and I Love it! Makes everything from smoothies,salsa,Frozen Adult drinks,ice cream ect. Perfect!!! It's a great blender.

My wife and I bought this about 6 months ago. We have tried to like it but are going to take it back. Here's why -
The lid/blades. Setting and removing the lid is too labor intensive - sometimes my wife and daughters can't even get it off. If you put something large inside, it can move the blade column to one side so it doesn't center with the bearing in the lid - so you have to cut down your fruit or wiggle the blade to try to get it straight up and down.
Green smoothies - just doesn't do a good job. We use a lot of spinach and even with the three blades, you have to run it way too long to try to get it cut into small bits - our smoothies just aren't as smooth as in other blenders in the past (we had Kitchen Aid's before this but have dumped those because all three eventually leaked - but they cut foods like spinach better). I thought the three blades would pull foods like spinach down for easier blending, but you still have to stop, remove the lid (a pain) and spatula down the sides, pushing the greens down from the top.
Peanut butter in your smoothies for protein? Another unfortunate pain - you have to put in in with the blade column in place or it gets in under the blades and won't blend. So putting it in after, it sticks to the blades and the sides of the container and again, you're taking the lid off (did I say a pain) and using the spatula to scrape down the sides.
Even marguritas aren't great as we still get chunks of ice making them crunchy.
The speed is great but it doesn't overcome the painful operation. Don't want to spend the big bucks for a Vitamix or Blendtec but may just have to bit the bullet.

It's powerful and crushes frozen fruit instantly and makes awesome smoothies. I love the 3 blades ( sharp as a razor). Don't waste your money on the less expensive models with multiple buttons.

I found this blender to be quite a good deal for the money. I also bought the slightly-more-powerful model of Ninja to accompany it for my business. I prefer the more powerful model's crushing power, but the NJ600 is still very good.

In reference to a 1 star poster's rating, these blenders do NOT work if the cover is put on incorrectly. There is only one correct orientation of the cover that will allow the blender to work even if it is closed properly. It's a strange safety mechanism, but I experienced this quite soon after purchasing. Make sure the handle of the pitcher is aligned with the corner of the cover with the small hole in it, and then it works great!

Don't Bother -- Piece of Junk

I read all about all of the blenders offered by B/B/B. This Ninja blender sounded like the most powerful for a reasonable price. How wrong I was! We used it one time and it was fine. Tried to use it a few days later and it didn't work. Let it sit and rest for a week -- still didn't work. Thank goodness for B/B/B's generous return policy (we had thrown the box out after we used it the first time.) Stick with an Oster or a Cuisinart -- brands you can trust that will make a piece of equipment that lasts longer than one use.

I am thrilled that a friend told me about this blender. Every time I use it (almost daily) I say, "I love this blender"
Never do I hear the old familiar whirl of a "regular" blender that has air trapped in the bottom and futility spins and push the unblended mixture away from the blades.

This blends ice cubes, frozen fruit, small block of frozen coffee with a few hits on the pulse button. Every drink is ready in about 1 minute. Really amazing!
