Really flimsy - not sturdy at all

I've had this shoe rack for about 4 months. Within a month of use one shelf broke. I repaired it with wood glue and it broke in another spot. But even when the shelves were whole the rack was wobbly and shifted side to side every time it was touched.

Terrible product. Wood legs would not go in-between the slats of the shelves. Could not assemble product.

I like the raw wood look, and the space allotted each level allows for any type of shoe I want to keep on it. Because only the tension from the racks keeps the poles in place, even unstacked, my shoe rack wobbles.

Only good for kindling

I bought four of these, intending to stack them. I haven't bothered upwrapping three of them because when I tried to assemble the first one, not a single one of the legs would fit into the slots on the shelves. I had the same problem that other reviewers wrote about -- the part of the leg that was supposed to slide into the slot was far too wide. I was hoping that we'd be lucky and get some good ones, but no. The only thing these shelves are good for is kindling!

A little shaky if you stack more than three high but very nice for the price. Went together quickly and with ease. Holds up to 12 pairs of shoes placed side by side or more stacked. Fixing to order more.

Really disappointing and very poor quality

Really disappointed with this shoe rack. Same problem that some of the other reviewers have mentioned: the slots are not wide enough for the legs, so you have to shove them in with all your strength or sand the pieces to make them fit. Really frustrating and kind of defeats the purpose of buying a rack that says can be assembled with no tools. I don't know if I want to even bother getting it all together, and as others have also said the wood is splintering and splitting a lot, especially as I'm trying to assemble it. I wouldn't be that surprised if it had cost $10, but $15 seems like a lot to me for something of such poor quality. I'm going to see if I can return it.

The product picture says it all

There's a reason the product picture is of the shelves unassembled - it is nearly impossible to put it together without the pieces splintering and breaking. Yes, you definitely get what you pay for with this. In fact, I think we paid too much for it. Had the assembled unit been close enough to see or touch, and not on the very top shelf inches from the ceiling in the store, I might have decided against it.

Not the fanciest shoe rack. Pieces broke when being assembled; had to use wood glue & a clamp. Serves its purpose for the time being.

Ikea used to carry the same shoe rack! I had to do a search for this shoe rack when I wanted to get some more from Ikea but they didn't have anymore, and it popped up on BBB's site! It's a great shoe rack for the price. Easy to adjust and looks nicely stacked up! Depending on how you stack it up, you can fit up to 12 shoes! Totally would recommend it. Happy Shopping!

You will definitely get what you paid for with this product. Be careful assembling it because it's made of very dry and fragile wood - it will break or crack easily. But as long as you don't mess with it once assembled, it will do the trick.

Good and inexpensive shoe rack

I love this shoe rack. Only took me less than 15 mins to assemble it. When I tried to insert each stand to each corner of the three layer, I didn't push all the way in so it was a lot easier to put them together. I did use hammer in the end to make sure the connections were tight enough. It's easy and simple. This was a good deal, 15 bucks, you get a woody, not ugly/cheap plastic rack. Perfect for student.

Cheap wood. Pay a little extra for better quality.

This product is a low cost solution to extra closet shelves. The wood is cheap. The notches for inserting the shelf in the side arm do not fit properly. You will have to push the shelf into the slot. If you are not careful, you may break the flimsy wood of the shelf. That's what I did. I fixed it with packaging tape and fortunately, the unit will go into a coat closet which few people but me will see. The cost was $14.99, purchased at the local store. It's probably worth $9.99. You might consider using the $14.99 toward a much better quality shoe rack or shelf. Add just another $5 and you can get a better quality product.

Spray a coat of polyurethane and it makes a great, inexpensive outdoor plant stand. Forget the shoes.

No tools required and wood sounds nice but only if the force required during assembly doesn't result in your breaking the unit. Smells like cedar but light as balsa wood. It will work for our mud room but I bought two today and will be returning the second. I figure half of these are returned at the end of the day.

Unfinished wood & need force to put together

If you don't want unfinished wood, do not buy this. If you want it to look nice you will need to finish it yourself. Also, you need shear force to put the pieces together. I would recommend using something to shave the slots in the wood so that the pieces will fit easier. One piece of mine broke with the force I had to use because I had nothing to carve/shave it.

Inexpensive Yet Functional

Purchased in-store for about $15, which is half the cost of the next viable option. Assembled within 5 minutes. Neatly racks up to 9 pairs of men's shoes. Sturdy enough to stand well on carpet, even when top heavy. Attractive unfinished wood that smells vaguely like cedar.
Some notches were not cut wide enough to easily slide in the slats, frustrating assembly. The best way to assemble in spite of this is to loosely put all the parts roughly in their place then use slightly more force with the heel of a hand to get each joint solidly in position. Tools or additional people are not necessary.
Would buy again.

No Tools Required But Lots of Sweat/Strength Is...

Got a great deal on this shoe rack but in the end you get what you pay for. It makes no sense that I could not assemble this product by myself. Given that no tools are required and it is assumed that putting it together would be a piece of cake, I had to solicit help from my husband. In the end and after much sweat and man power the rack is up. Not too impressed with the quality but it does the job and like others have said it makes a great air freshener (that outdoors wood air) for the room. If assembly wasn't such a struggle I would have maybe rated this three stars, but then again maybe the pieces I had were defective. In any rate...good luck and hope you can escape all of the struggles should you decide to buy this rack.

I like this rack beacuse it's cute and not just an ugly metal shoe rack. It's almost as sturdy as I hoped and does the job and it was very easy to assemble. I like it!
