My adult daughters bought this cotton candy machine for me this past Christmas. We're all enjoying it, especially my husband. We use hard candy w/out any problems. Now when our girls visit they bring a bag of hard candy :-)

Dangerous design - fire danger

Within 20 minutes of using this out of the box, it caught fire (flames shooting out of the top) and terrified my daughter.
I called the company & they said that if sugar comes in contact with the heating element, fire can occur. What a horrible design! The heating elements are not at all shielded from the cotton candy. I submitted a complaint to saferproducts.gov & suggest others do too.
This was given to us as a gift, purchased at bed bath and beyond. I was shocked to read all of the reviews on amazon from others who had problems with the unit catching on fire or burning them.

Best Cotton Candy machine for home users

I bought this machine over 2 years ago, and with proper cleaning (Hot Water) it performs wonderfully!!! I tried the hard candies and some work good others work great (Starlight Mints) BUT the best experience would be the Floss Sugar! The experience is the original Fluffy Cotton Candy that you would want to have! Clean up is a breeze and Also, I have 2 instructional videos on YOutube for this machine, It shows how to work the machine and how to clean it up. Look it up on youtube! Mark

Great little machine. Works great with flossugar (available online) and most hard candies. Starlight peppermints make great cotton, fire flavor jolly ranchers make an awesome cotton, sugar free Werthers work great, Life savers and life saver creams work great. Would have been 5 stars if my favorite "root beer barrels" had worked, but all I get from them looks like Easter basket grass and doesn't taste right.
All in all a great little gizmo.

My kids and I enjoyed it. It takes awhile for the machine to warm up but the cotton candy came out pretty decent. It doesn't form into a big ball of cotton but my kids still like it and it tastes the same.

This is a great party treat! My daughter got it for her birthday and they had cotton candy instead of birthday cake! It only needs 2 hard lifesaver candies per serving of cotton candy, so you don't have to buy special sugars. We have used the cotton candy machine any time we have a group of kids over to our house...and they have a blast!

This machine is awesome. It heats up in five minutes and makes a single size serving of cotton candy with two pieces of hard candy. The serving sizes seem to get larger as you continue to use it/ it heats up. My six and two year olds loved it and we plan on using it at my son' s bday party, it will be a hit for sure!!

My son and his guests had a great time enjoying cotton condy during his birthday, thanks to this product! We used just a regular candy and it turned out to taste just like a regular cotton candy! This product is only recommended for a small gathering and not for commercial purposes because of it's speed.

We have found this to be a fun and entertaining product. Ifyou let the machine warm up for 10 minuites before putting the candy in it works much better. We used jolly ranchers and it worked perfect. I took it to my daughters school and we made cotton candy for the whole class in about 15 miniutes. Just soak the plasic bowl and gaurd and the meatal thing you put the candy in in very hot soapy wayer for about 10-15 miniutes and it wipes clean. I would recomend this product.

This cotton candy maker was a waste of money. The hard candies did not work! The "cotton candy" that came out was not fluffy and not a lot came out. So we got the recommended cotton candy sugar. The "cotton candy" that came out was fluffy, but again, not a lot came out. We could not get enough cotton candy on the cone. Clean up is not as easy as the product claims, especially the part you put the sugar in. My family and I are truly disappointed!!

This is a great value and makes cotton candy in flash. It is also very easy to clean. Let's not expect a carnival bag full with two pieces of candy, it's enough for one serving. I used life savers wow what great flavor! I had fun with the kids having carnival day with nostalgia products, the hot dog roller and popcorn maker. What a blast for movie night. Worth every penny!

Wonderful cotton candy maker! Used my own recipe!

This machine works very well with the pre-packaged sugar (we have the pink vanilla cotton candy sugar). When I tried using hard candies, the cotton was blowing all over my kitchen and then the candy quickly spun into the burner creating a mess. The cotton candy from the hard candies was not very fluffy like with the regular sugar, even when we crushed the candies as recommended in the manual. When we next used it, we used the regular cotton candy sugar. Then we wanted other flavors, so I used the following recipe: 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 10-drops concentrated candy flavoring of choice (LorAnn gourmet flavor) and 4-6 drops of food coloring. You mix the ingredients in a small container with a lid (ziplock) and shake it until the color is uniform throughout. It is a wet consistency, but will work anyway using the amount specified in the manual (2 teaspoons) and placing into the melter. (You can spread the sugar out on a cookie sheet to allow it to dry if you want faster cotton candy). This recipe yields 3 cones of cotton candy. We have made cherry, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, and butterscotch so far. Since regular granulated sugar is so inexpensive and the flavoring is pretty cheap too, it makes cotton candy even more affordable! What I like about this recipe is that you can flavor it to your liking. This recipe makes fluffy cotton candy!

I wondered why on the video the presenter just stood in front of the machine & talked about it rather than demonstrated how to use it.....well once I got it home I figured out why! It doesn't work! It takes FOREVER to make a normal amount of cotton candy & the clean up is awful!

This was a Christmas gift for my kids. And now we all love it. Easy to assemble and we were eating our first batch of cotton candy in 10 minutes. The warmer the machine is the better and faster it works. We first started off with Lifesavers, then quickly moved to candy canes. No hard candy in the house was safe after that. I've sinced bought cotton candy floss (which was labeled for professional use only) and it works the fastest and tastes the best. Some reviews I read complained about the spinning parts and the heat with children. But my 5 year old was able to collect is cotton candy no problem. A note of caution to not touch certain parts and he was set to go. I highly recommend this product it's so much fun to have cotton candy for dessert.

Feel Like a Big Kid Again

OMG! This machine is awesome. I aske for it this for Christmas. I didn't get to use it until a couple of days later. I started out putting 2 pieces of candy in it. Mind you, I was near the dollar store, so I picked up some cheap candy. It wasn't that great! It's not as fluffy as the sugar floss. I would suggest starting with maybe a jolly rancher or a flavorful candy. Either way, the candy doesn't get it that big. I ordered 2 flavors of sugar floss off of Amazon. They came in last night and I have been making cotton candy ever since. I even brought it to work today to make for my co-workers. Every one loves it. The sugar floss makes light and fluffy cotton just like the carnivals. I would love to own 2 of them to go a lot faster. But each bundle takes about 2-3 minutes. It comes with 2 cones for rolling, then I just took some copy paper and rolled a bunch to save money from buying them. Once you learn the technique to rolling them, you will have a large bundle of it just like the pros...lol. Perfect!!!

We love cotton candy and this machine does its job. It's best suited for small family. It can take a while to make them. I only make 6 at the most each time. It is not for a big party situation but we still like this machine. Buy floss sugar from smart & final for under $6 a big carton. I recommend this machine and would buy it again. If you have a cotton candy lover, this is a great gift.

YOU NEEDTHISSS!!!! YOU will not regret it!!
