Pandigital Novel 9" Color Multimedia eReader

At the time of purchase, I thought I was getting a device that was on displayed (as labeled) and never used by anyone. However during the setup process I realized the unit had been used and possibly by a former employee of the store. I attempted to reset the device to the factory settings but it was blocked due to a password needed for it. I just purchased this unit 5 days ago and further learned that Pandigital Novel recently liquidated and no longer provides technical support to the consumer. Any suggestions anyone? I know I can take it back to the store but have setup my email account and unable to remove it as well. Help!

DO NOT PURCHASE THE PANDIGITAL eREADER

Save your money, and do not purchase any Pandigital eReader. The wifi will work for a few weeks, then will stop working. Many on other forums are having the same issue. The company response is silent.
If you do decided to call Pandigital support (800) 715-5354, make sure your patience is in check.. They will disconnect after 24 minutes. It took me 5 cycles to get through only to have the support representative tell me that they are aware of the issue, and a supervisor will get back to me. So far have not heard from a Pandigital support supervisor.
If you would like to have a $200.00 paper weight, the Pandigital eReader Table will be perfect for you.

I want to say that while I still do not recommend this product and Pandigital does not stand by their product or warranty, Bed Bath and Beyond does stand by their customers. I received and e-mail from BB&B asking me to bring the product back to the store for an exchange or refund. I brought it back and received a no hassle refund. I love BB&B and shop there regularly. I will be sure to tell everyone I can what a great store BB&B is.
Thank you for standing by your customers!

I used to love mine but:

I've had mine just 5 months and WAS in love with the product. That was until my on/off button stopped working and so far Pandigital will not stand by their product. They say:
Pandigital firmly stands behind the quality of our
products. It clearly states in our Warranty, which is included in each device, that we do not cover
“damage or malfunctions caused byaccident, disaster, misuse, abuse, negligence or other
external causes”. It is the soleresponsibility of the customer to use this device in the
manner that the user guide instructs. Fordevices that are truly defective due to an issue of
workmanship or materials and fall within thewarranty period with proof of purchase, Pandigital
clearly, as is stated in our Warranty, reserves the right to "repair or replace the device,
at its sole discretion". Pandigital does not have a repair facility. It would
cost more to repair a device than replace it.Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
So basically, I feel like they're telling my tough, it's my problem. I paid over $200 for this item. I'm very upset.

I bought 5 of the 9 inch as Christmas gifts and found covers for them at QVC. We all love our ereaders and the cover is great for our 9 year old granddaughter that reads hers on the way to school and from. Her mom is a teacher and also uses hers as a teaching aid for her 2nd grade class. My husband and I just love ours as readers and note-books. My GD makes videos with her dolls and puts them on her PD. We love it. So far it has lived up to everything we thought it would. My only complaint is that the e-books are so expensive. I did find that you can go into the library on my desk top and down load a book and then read it for free on my e-reader so reading is costing me nothing now. I love it...

I love my pandigital! Got it for Christmas and after a few months of use I am delighted with how good it is! I have access to the internet and my email, I can put photos and music on it and I can read until my eyes won't stay open anymore! Much better on the plane than a book! Much better when I travel than the heavy laptop! Using the stylis makes it much faster and I love that you can push the little button to turn the pages. I cant say enough positve things about it! I love everything about this little reader EXCEPT that I cannot find a COVER for it!!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Pandigital and BB&B make/find a cover for the 9inch Pandigital Reader!

Do Yourself a Favor

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY Pandigital. After a month of having a white Pandigital Novel it would not upgrade to the newest firmware. I called customer service and was given a return number and told to send it back and in 2 to 3 weeks I would recieve a replacement. They recieved the product on 2/15. As of 3/17 my unit has still not shipped and they cannot tell me when it will ship even though I was promised it would ship 3/14. They will not transfer me to a supervisor and all they can tell me is that I am in a que to be shipped when one is available. I have never heard such nonsense in my life. My next stop is the Better Business Bureau., Save yourself the headache!!!!!

Got the 9" Novel for Christmas and still very pleased. I'm new to the Android OS, so it took a little longer to set it up the way I wanted it. Try 'slideme' to download apps such as Kindle, Youtube, Pandora, OverdriveMedia etc. Also, I'm using Skyfire as a browser and it lets you watch Flash videos.
I use it for my work (load up my repair manuals in pdf format ). Take your time, read the User Manual loaded on the device and you'll do fine.

Downloading the Android Kit Voids the Warranty!

Although I'm a novice in the electronic dept. I found that the PDN has alot of potential but not ready for "primetime" for newbies in my opinion. I went to several sites on how to try to set it up as well as the directions, like instructables.com and slatedroid and the more I read the more complicated it became. I read to download the all the new firmware which includes the Android Kit. and I did that, then I read in red letters when you scroll all the way down that by downloading the Android Kit it voids the warranty! Of course I didn't see it until I downloaded it. It's almost as though they set you up so you can't return it. WTHeck! The websites listed above give you how to's to HACK into the device in order to use it to it's full potential. If you're tech savvy then it would be easy for you, but not so much for the inexperienced. Read lots of reviews to see the kinds of problems they have before you decide on any ereader, again, just my opinion.

So Worth the Money

I loved my 7 inch pandigital novel so much that I got this one for my birthday. I love it and am so glad I took the plunge. Also, a plus is that it's a true android, so I was able to download the Kindle app w/o problem. I am an avid reader, so having two devices to rotate helps. Because it's so new, finding accessories may be a bit of a challenge. However, QVC does have a case for it, which I highly recommend. I was lucky enough to get in on the deal that had the $20 rebate, 20% off and free shipping, which made this tablet much lower than competitors' prices. I highly recommend this device.

Bought this for my gf for Christmas. She dropped it and the screen cracked. Took 2 weeks to get in contact with them only to be told it would be cheaper to buy a new one than to replace a piece of glass. I'm out $200 and can't even use the thing. Buyer Beware

I've read reviews of this online, and noted the bad ones. They normally complained that it's no Ipad and it doesn't have flash support. The funny thing is that the Ipad is at least 300 dollars more, and also has no flash support. This also has something over the Ipad, where this comes with multitasking standard, and you are able to create a file system, whereas you can't on Ipad. This is basically an Android Tablet disguised as an Ereader.

I also did some online research-did not want to spend big bucks for Ipad. Did not buy this for a reader, but wanted something easy to carry to obtain email and internet. Internet is with wifi only and easy to connect at home and wifi spots. I can even watch my NCIS videos. Still learning how to use-but thus far it has earned a 5 star rating from me. I am over 50.

After a week of research I finally went and picked this up today for my 13 year old daughter. She sold her dsi in hopes of getting an iPad. Due to money she chose to go with an ereader with touch screen. It was left to me to hunt down the perfect ereader. I went in hopes of getting the 7" but after viewing them side by side chose to go with the 9". Use those coupons!! In total we spent well under what a nookcolor would have cost.
The cons: if you are use to an iPad, iPhone, or itouch you will want to keep in mind that this is a droid and the screen is glass and less sensitive to touch.
Once we started using the stylus pen the ereader became very responsive. The pages turn with your fingers if you are patient, there is a moment of delay.
The wifi is slow but hey this is an reader not an iPad. This was the perfect item my child could have gotten herself. She is an avid reader and Her favorite feature is the reading in the dark option. No more begging for the car Iight on during late night car rides.
Can't wait to get myself a reader too!!
