I bought this kettle nearly two years ago, use it daily (sometimes several times a day). It had more features than I needed but it was the one that was in-stock the day I went to the store. Saw some negative reviews before I purchased (though some were rather silly... "exterior gets hot" - no kidding, really?) but have found this to be a perfectly sturdy kettle and it does it's job.

Great kettle!

I bought this kettle a year ago after extensive research. I've been a tea drinker for decades, and was tired of messing with a traditional kettle, or resorting to microwaving my water for tea. This kettle has exceeded my expectations! The multiple temperature settings allow me to enjoy my variety of teas at the proper temperature for steeping, and my tea has never tasted better because of it. The simple design of this kettle makes it easy to use. I was concerned that I might have issues with the mineral content of my water (Santa Fe has ridiculously hard city water) but, unbelievably this has not been an issue at all. The element of course is concealed, so maybe that helps. Also, I run my tap water through my Brita filter which might also help a bit. So far so good. I've very pleased with this product. A delightful must-have for tea lovers.

This is one of the best electric kettles. My earlier model only boiled the water but had no shut off, so I was always steaming up my kitchen. My favorite feature is that is has a stay warm button that keeps the water at the perfect temp for 30 minutes after it boils the water. I also like the different temps for the types of tea and french press coffee. I highly recommend this product. I also have other Cuisinart electrics (food processor, coffee maker and coffee grinder )and find they make superior products.

Bummer

Well I had high hopes for this after reading the reviews, unfortunately I returned this twice. First one was 15 degrees off, thought I just had a bad one so took it back and got another. Second one was 10 degrees off. I cannot justify spending $99. on something that can't even boil water at the correct temp, let alone the other temperatures that I wanted for tea. I was disappointed to say the least. My $49. hamilton beech kettle is right on the money with the temps, looks like I'll be going back to it.

Received this as a gift. I'm a daily tea drinker and enjoy various types which require different temperatures of water. This kettle heats quickly, is quiet and is designed not to spill over when water is brought to a boil. I'm enjoying the Keep Warm feature. The smooth and sleek design is well-balanced while filling and pouring water. Easy to wipe clean. Love the water window and the glowing blue light that makes the controls and water level so easy to see. The cord is actually long enough to stretch over to an outlet, a rarity these days. Excess cord can be stored underneath the base of the heating element. Highly recommend.

smelly pot

received for Christmas
After boiling and rinsing, first pot of tea had strange odor and taste
boiled vinegar, then baking soda-still odd smell
called Cuisinart. Lady said boil with at least a cup of lemon juice, as if she had answered this before also not in the materials that came with kettle.
Tried that, too. Ruined the last pot of tea. Kettle is going back. Will use cheaper, stink-free Black and Decker.

Very good but could be improved

This kettle works well, it does boil water faster than other kettles I owned, and it looks nice and durable. It is reasonably quiet, and the beep is pleasant and not too loud, which is fine with me. On the other hand, you probably won't hear it from another room, but the kettle turns off automatically so this is not a big deal. I like to be able to have water to be heated to different temperatures for different kinds of teas, but if you don't drink that much tea, you probably don't need this feature. An additional plus, there is ZERO funny plastic smell from the very beginnig -- I hated it in many other kettles. The reasons I did not give five stars: the top opening for pourring water into the kettle is a bit small -- I removed mesh filter to be able to fill the kettle with water easier; the plastic see-through piece is placed behind the handle--for manufacturer's convenience, I guess, but it is somewhat awkward to see the water level while pouring water into the kettle; start button is too narrow -- I use a fingernail rather than finger to push it. I also would prefer the kettle to turn off automatically every time I remove it from the base -- sometimes I don't wait until the full boil, but discovered that if I empty the kettle when it starts boiling but before it turns off automatically and then return it to the base empty, it continues to be ON and all the lights begin blinking. Just remember to wait until it turns off automatically, although it can take some time if the kettle is not full. But these are minor details, so far this kettle is a big improvement from my previous kettles. Bottom line: I do recommend this kettle.

I read the five star reviews so I guess some folks are lucky. I owned the kettle a little over one year and it just started leaking. For a kettle where the price approaches $100 I expect a longer useful life. My leak was exactly the same as that described by others in this review section. The leak emanates from the bottom of the kettle where the plastic base meets the sides of the kettle. In case you are wondering the kettle was used in a home environment.

We received this as a wedding gift and I just love it!! It's so easy to use and you can choose the water temperature for various types of teas (my husband's favorite) and french press (my favorite). It heats the water quickly and keeps it heated. It may be a bit pricey, but it is absolutely worth it!

Ok after not wanting to spend $100 I tried just about all the electric pots out there. Capresso was great until it came to it's one year birthday...the lid stopped staying open. The instructions for that pot tell you to keep it open when pouring. Anyway Capresso told me 'sorry outa luck' and refused to do anything. Pouring with the lid closed forces steam to vent onto the handle. Well I got tired of that. Next I tried two other brands that were in the $50 range and were quickly returned. This Cuisinart CPK-17 pot is by far the best of them all! I like the big handle, it is comfy to pick up the pot and pour. The controls are easy and light up which is great. It boils fast, and keeps the water hot for a while which is also something the others don't do. The only thing is...it is a little noisy as it heats the water but I'm willing to get used to that compared to the other choices. So yes I would reccommend this product. Thanks Cuisinart!

I just purchased mine, so the review of 2 breaking in 8 months migh tbe true. I can say however it heats water very quickly, probably boils a liter of water in under 5 minutes. The manual gives recommendations on how to steep tea, which ended up being great. The electric cord is a little short. The controls are easy to understand, they probably should have put start/stop, not just start though. All in all I love it.

I bought this because I saw multiple positive reviews. The best feature of this product is it has a variety of heat settings specifically for the type of tea that you are cooking. There are six different settings....this means that you heat water to a temperature that doesn't heat so hot it destroys the delicate flavors of white teas and heats hot enough for soup and oatmeal. The 'one setting tea kettles' only boil....which is way too hot to preserve the flavors of many tea varieties. With the proper setting your tea can be ready to drink instantly...rather than waiting for it to cool. If you are even in the market for a product like this....this is the one you should purchase.

I bought one 8 months ago, it stopped working so BB&B replaced it, and this morning the second one stopped working. They both did the same thing. They click off before the water heats up. We use it once in the morning and infrequently a second time in the day. This is not a pot in an office that's getting used all day. I think I might call it "junk".

I purchased this kettle about 5 months ago. The kettle leaks around the bottom where the stainless steel meets the plastic base. I love the features of this product and it functions great. I cannot recommend it simply because it started leaking only after 5 months of use.

We just started drinking tea exclusively and wonder how we got along without this genius of a tea maker. It brews at the recommended temp and keeps the tea warm. I now drink tea all day instead of coffee and owe it to this kettle.
