It uses Air Multiplier" technology to draw in air and amplify it 15 times, producing an uninterrupted stream of smooth air with no unpleasant buffeting. With no blades or grill, it is safe to use and easy to clean. It pivots on its own center of gravity, staying put without clamping, and has a dimmer switch control to precisely adjust airflow power. Dyson 12"- It works

I actually really like this fan. Even though many reviews were complaining about the noise factor at its highest setting, as it can get pretty loud and powerful, It's really about the same noise as a running AC or other fans that have blades. It doesn't bother me at all. Actually, at a lower setting its quite quiet and oscillates smoothly. Also, its easy to clean and very nice looking.
Now that its getting hot here in NYC I have had the chance to test its temperature regulating and cooling ability, and I have to say, it gets the job done. On a hot day I can sleep comfortably without an AC.
So, even though I deducted a star because of the price--it was pretty expensive, even though I got it on sale--I recommend this fan and I would even purchase another for my home.

Will be returning my 3rd fan today. Very disappointed in this product. Got the first one home and plugged in. Loved in the stationary position. Used in the rotating position and began to make a grinding noise as it reached the limit of its oscillation to the left coming back to the right. 2nd and 3rd did the same thing after a short period of time. Talked directly to Dyson and they were no help. Can't replace the fan for you, only parts. Love my other Dyson products, really disappointed in this one. For over $300, definitely not worth it.

This fan is amazing...Great design, incredible power, able to feel air movement over 50ft away. This fan delivers a calming breeze as stated and not that choppiness that most are accostumed to from regular bladed fans. It clearly balances the ambient temps in the room. When running it at full power in does have alittle bit of that "WHITE NOISE" that seems to drown out the tv on low volume. Its a great conversation piece that really will confuse people on how it works. I fully recomend this item !!! You will not be dissapointed !!!
