I just returned this 2 days ago. This product never toasted on the bottom side and when I went to retrieve toast it fell off the rack and landed way in the back of Toaster oven. It was also very difficult to use and hot on outside.

Fire Hazzard

Bought this and it never toasted well and the outside handle would be very hot. Went to make toast today and it never rang that it was done and within a minute it was on fire and my house was filled with smoke. I turned it off but the light stayed on and I had to unplug it. Took it back to the store and got my $$ back. Glad it wasn't one of my children making toast when this happened!

Be sure to turn both dials off after using. It doesn't just go off. It gets very hot. We make sure we unplug the toaster to be sure. Fire safety is a BIG concern.

On the upside, This toaster works. It toasts nicely. The downsides are
- Door doesn't stay open, so you need both hands to get something out.
-The handle stays cool, but the metal around it does not. I burned myself when I closed the door.

I know that these inconveniences would bother me every time I use the product.

DANGEROUS TOASTER OVEN

I have had this oven for 2 days...toasted in it twice. This morning I put a bagel in to toast and went in to an adjoining room. I heard it ding and didn't go right away. Within a minute I smelled something burning and went to look and the bagel was ON FIRE! I left it in there (as instructed in manual) until the fire went out...filling my house with smoke. VERY scary. I returned it immediately to the BB&B.

Large enough, but fit for small spaces (where you can hide it if you have a great kitchen), powerful and inexpensive, this little guy is everything you need! I highly recommend it. Btw, don't even bother reading some of the negative comments. I mean, what more do these people expect for $30? A built-in chef?

The toaster oven is not very well designed. The tray does not slide out when you open the door. It is very easy to burn yourself takeing things out. Thre is no tray to catch drippings when you broil or bake anything.

You can't put the baking sheet and the rack in at the same time (only one at a time), making storing both somewhat inconvenient. Also the dial is too small and the toast settings too close together to have any real control over how dark you want to toast things. You have to stand and watch it as it toasts so it doesn't burn what you are making.

Beware the nice looking and nicely priced Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven Model 31134. The metal burns your wrist or hand whenever you put it into the oven to retrieve your toast.

We bought this toaster oven thinking we'd get a good bang for our buck. How different could toaster ovens really be? There wasn't a thing this toaster oven would cook right and the majority of things we put in there ended up burnt. We forgot to warn my MIL and she almost started a fire! This is a terrible product. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more money for a better quality toaster oven. We definitely learned our lesson. (P.S. If I could rate this at zero stars, I would.)

I was prepared to love this toaster oven - it was a great buy and small - perfect for my tiny kitchen. Each of the 3 times I used it it reeked and set off my smoke alarm (I didn't burn anything). But that isn't why I gave it a poor review. I returned this toaster oven b/c the oven door handle is attached to a U-shaped piece of metal that extends from the outside of the door, over the top, and into the inside of the oven. That piece of metal gets really, really hot! The first time I opened the oven door, I burned my finger so badly I got a blister. I thought I'd just make a mental note of it, but then I forgot and burned myself again. Then I thought about my kids, who probably won't make a mental note, and returned it and purchased a different product. Kudos to Bed Bath and Beyond for their terrific return policy!

Bought this last night (3/24/11) after searching for weeks for a compact oven toaster. I must say that I'm pretty satisfied with this item. Used it already as soon as I got home. The cord is a little too short though but it won't kill you to get an extension cord and the crumb tray is not removable so 4 star for this otherwise, I love it! I would recommend this. HAH!

I looked at several other toaster and convection ovens. All were too large, expensive and complex for something I use mainly to toast bread and muffins. This toaster oven was the perfect mid-range price and size. I didn't expect it to work as well as it does, given that the spring on the door seems a little flimsy, but I was mistaken. I am very happy with its quality and performance. It heats up fast and toasts quickly, so don't walk away while toasting or, like me, you'll burn several pieces of bread and stink up your home before you learn and start paying attention.

This is a very nice little toaster oven for the money. It is not tinney as you might expect at this price. It is solid and neat looking. Had a much larger one for a long time but it took up too much counter space and was too heavy to store. This one is perfect and works well.
