Best trash can ever!

You may think this is a bit much to spend on a trash can. You would be wrong. This thing is great. We have a cat who is very resourceful when it comes to getting into the trash and there is absolutely no way he can get into this thing. We used to have to keep a teapot on top of our old trash can because the cat figured out how to push the button in the lid to open the can. Now, we don't even have to lock it. It is heavy and has a solid enough base that he could not tip it over if he tried. The way it is designed he also can not lift open the lid. Our dog may be able to tip it over if she really wanted to but she doesn't even try. The lock is useful for when we have small children over. Also, the lid has some kind of shock system built in. When you release the lid it gradually lowers and does not slam. This works regardless of wheather or not you use the foot peadal. Also, the lid only goes back to a 90 degree angle so when you push the foot pedal it does not slam into the wall. Great product. Someone should have thought of this years ago. Best money anyone has ever spent. Buy this baby the next time you need a new trash can and you will see what I'm taking about.

not boxer proof

i rated this poor simply for the fact that i got this only for the "pet proof" lock feature & that is why i wouldn't recommend it, other than that i think the color is great, as well as the size, shape & quality. my boxer got into it the very first day i left him alone w/ it, even w/ it locked, this disappointed me, because i read other reviews about how great it was w/ pets, someone even wrote that their two pit bulls couldn't get into it. i don't get it, it clearly is no match for my almost 8 year old boxer as he gets into it every single time i forget to hide it before i leave. frustrating!!!

I have a 1 1/2 yr old daughter who likes to throw everything in the trash can(toys, shoe's, etc..) This trash can gives us the option to lock the lid and it has so far kept her from throwing away anything unless we open it for her. It also is perfect size too! Our standard kitchen size trash bags still work in the this perfectly as well!

I was worried if the mechanism would be flimsy and break right away, but the design is simple and sturdy.
I have had this for a few months now and I use regular trash bags to line it with no problems. Overall a great buy.

We' ve had this garbage can for about 5 months and have had our puppy for just over 4 (he's a 55 lb german shepherd and expected to be double that size). This garbage can has worked out great. It's a great size, very stable and most importantly, keeps a curious puppy out. I would recommend this!

It really has been a great help in the kitchen. First, I can throw things away without having to stop and wash my hands every time. Secondly, the lid locks, keeping our dog out of the garbage. We installed "child proof" locks on our cabinet doors to keep our dog out of the garbage, buit he is part beagle, and he figured out a way to get to it despite the "child proof" locks. PLUS, it does not hinder the flow of traffic. We have it at the end of our main counter and it does not create any kind of obstruction. I only wish I would have made this purchase sooner.

This trashcan is the perfect size for my kitchen. I tried a stainless version, but the amount of fingerprints and smears had me looking for another option. This is great--nice color to blend with other stainless appliances, but won't show the dirt. Best of all, I can lock the top and keep my ever curious dogs out!

I was skeptical at first about a plastic based trash can but after having it for a month, I love it. It is built pretty sturdy for a plastic trash can. You can use the very durable foot pedal to open the trash can when you hands are full and it will close by itself very quietly as it has a damper built in. One pointer, make sure you place it about an inch away from the wall to avoid slamming on the wall (as with any foot pedal based trash can).
You can also push it all the way back so the lid will stay open for as long as you want.

The other nice feature is that it has a lock, so if you have pets that get into trash cans, you know how great it will be to have this feature.

Finally one last great pointer, as it is a 13 gallon trash can, most of the trash liners that are available in everyday stores (13 gallon ones which most bags are) can be use in this. I recommend the "Glad® ForceFlex® Tall Kitchen - 13 gal 120 ct, with Fabreze" from Sams Club. Not a bad value for $15.68 for 120 bags (13 cents a bag) and the bag stays in place and does not fall in, since the new redesigned drawstring area snugly fits the outer part of the trash can and with the fabreze your trash will not smell.

Absolutely great product for the money, decided to go with the plastic instead of metal for easier cleanup. Alot of plastic trashcans are kind of cheap, but this is well constructed and very functional. Shipping was lightning fast.
