A positive experience...

I purchased this product at another store around two years ago and unlike many of the other reviews, mine is still working well. I've never used the attachements, so I can only comment on the blender part of it. I've been able to use the blender for soups, smoothies, salsas, etc. and have never had an issue with the blender. I personally would have no problems recommending it.

My husband and I received this as a wedding gift. After the first use, it appeared that the product was leaking oil. Also, the button was difficult to use, which made blending a challenge.

One poor use and it's stopped working

My first and only attempt to use this product was today, Thanksgiving, so I don't have the option of returning it for a better model. I purchased this because it was the cheapest one at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I needed it for a kosher meal which I serve once a year at Thanksgiving to accomodate guests. For everyday use I have a KitchenAid Hand Blender that is about 5 years old.
I attempted to use this to puree soup in a pot. At first the machine worked reasonably well but almost all the pieces coming out were still pretty big. After a few minutes the motor would just stop and I'd have to let it cool down and restart. When I changed to push down, lift up, move, repeat, I ended up with a solid mass of food stuck inside the blade cover and the teeny tiny blade just spinning in the glop.
The blade is simply to small for the casing and the pieces just don't get cut up as centrifugal force keeps them between the blade and the housing.
So here I am, almost in tears because I have guests coming in a few hours and the soup is taking so much longer than intended. I know for a fact, because I've made the soup before and used my KA stick, that blending it into a smooth puree should take no more than 10 minutes top.
Fortunately, and the reason for one star, is there is a chopper and container included as well. So into the tiny 2 cup container went my soup in batches. After 10 batches, I had a reasonably acceptable soup which is fortunate because at this point, the blender said ENOUGH! and quit!! The remainder of the soup went into a separate container where I used my KA stick to get a lovely smooth puree in about 1 minute from the chunky soup the SI left behind. This can't be served today though.
Thankfully, which is a good thing to be on Thanksgiving - right?, I have a wonderful husband who told me to take 10 minutes and relax while he peels the sweet potatoes and my children are setting the table so I have time to vent and write this review.
PROS
Price
CONS
Doesn't puree food
You have to keep holding down the button while using the machine. There is no on/off button
You can't tell which speed the motor is on - there is no discernible difference.
No instruction manual
One batch of soup burnt out the motor.

Poor Quality

After using and washing only a few times, I noticed rusting from what appears to be aluminun screws in the top of the chopper. It is also extremely hard to get the chopper lid lined up with the blade.
Scary with the "aluminum?"
Frustrating with the allignment.
Will be returning when I can get help as I am homebound.

The Worst Product

This is the worst product I have ever purchased. It seems this company is selling returned items. After I got a defective one, I reordered it. But I only got another used defective one. The blade, shaft, and plastic cup were all broken and dirty. I also found a few appalling design flaws. For example, the whisk attachment quickly drops when turned on because there is no locking structure in the joint parts. The motor smells terrible when you continue to use it for more than 30 seconds. The problem is that Bed Bath Beyond does not refund shipping cost even if a customer is not responsible at all. So I only wasted the shipping cost and a lot of time for nothing. Do not buy any electronic product online as long as they reject refunding shipping cost.

Started off well... but

I purchased this hand blender as a small jobs type of blender to accompany my Breville. The Breville is great but very large, and when you want to blend something you are left with a larger mess to clean up.
I appreciated the stainless steel and the accessories which came with the Sharper Image blender.
The blender itself did a good job of blending the items I through at it (not literally, though that be interesting to see).
The chopper attachment didn't fare to well and missed out on things I put in it, i.e. parsley.
The reason I'm giving it a low score is that it got a really funky smell inside near the blades, and I was adamant about cleaning it off after every use. It is probably a design flaw. I exchanged it for a Bullet Magic blender which I am happy with and so far no smell! :)

Works great, I have used it 10 times on various items. Couple of issues, the wisk comes apart (not supposed to) at it's base. I snapped it back together, but it came apart again kinda weak, works fine just have to attach and dettach it to the unit cautiously. Wall mouning bracket doesn't look like it's even designed to hold the unit and wisk didn't use it. holds the unit, but slot next to it won't hold the wisk or the blender head.

Most disappointed, especially from Sharper Image

The product was a real disappointment, especially since I always thought Sharper Image was a high-end supplier!
The tools did not fit securely into the motor wand; The in-pot mixer litterally fell out;, and therefore the whole thing is basically useless.
I would have been happy if they would have just given me the one I wanted -- the in-pot mixer -- and skipped all the other stuff. They could have put their money into quality for the one item.

I really like this

My first attempt was to use it for homemade pea soup. It was so powerful it suctioned itself to the bottom of the pot, I had to pull it up to release it. I was not sure when I purchased it because it has less power then some of the others advertised, but it has plenty of power. The whip attachment did a nice job mixing eggs for breakfast. Also, mixed my protein drinks and it did a great job with that too. My easy pea soup recipe, chopped onion, some grated carrot, a large bag of frozen peas, a large can of College Inn low sodium chicken broth, some diced ham added last after soup was done. I make it in my Cuisinart pressure cooker, it only takes 20 minutes. Saute onion and carrot then add remaining ingred. Set cooker on hi pressure for 20 minutes DONE I mashed soft peas with my hand blender, added some parsley some croutons. A real time saver. Another idea if you like thick soup add instant Idaho mashed potatoes to thicken. Idaho brand is the best rated #1 Yummy

After using a friend's I bought this. I love making soups and this makes it much easier to create different textures. The attachment to make it a food processor has worked perfectly so far. I have not used the whisk and measuring cup yet.

The best blender I know

I got a cuisine art hand blender because it had very good reviews on web and because it had a bigger blade, which I thought would get the job done fast. But it left chunks because the blade is much higher from where it touches the base of the container, quite big pieces fit there without touching the blade.
With the sharper image it struggles a little bit with apples and carrots but after a minute it does blend them well, even with these it did much better than the cuisine art blender. It is very fast and great for making the purees and pastes.
Even though both are priced the same this one comes with lots of attachments. I haven't tried them yet though. So I am not sure about chopping with it but it is a great blender.

Not So Great

We purchased the Sharper Image version of the hand blender after 7 years of using the Braun version and are quite disappointed in its performance. It does not chop onions or herbs well and water is always trapped in the "lid" of the bowl attachment after washing. Overall, this product is a disappointment to its competitors' version. I would not recommend to those savvy cooks looking for a useful kitchen gadget. It may slow you down even more!
