I bought it becouse we both (my husband and I) are on diet. So I though it would be easiest way to calculate calories. My mistake.
The scale always changes the results, turn off so fast that I have no time to add other ingredients, but the worst is checking the codes in the book - before I find the code and write it on the scale, the scale is already turn off. Going back to store.

Bought this scale yesterday after the Salter brand we had used for 7 years bit the dust. Having 2 kids with Type 1 diabetes requires us to count the carbs in all food. I really like the fact that all the information is on one screen. Our old scale had a different button for carbs, fat, protein, etc. I like that the code book is lamenated. Doesn't seem like a big deal but our old book was a little spiral notebook that ended up having pages rip out of it. I also like how compact it is and easy it would be to throw in a bag if you went out to eat. A couple things I'm not crazy about so far is the fact that the readings are very light and a little difficult to see. Also, if you place a larger plate on the scale, it covers up the readings. Haven't decided if I'm going to take it back yet or not. If I were to take it out to eat with us, it may be very difficult to see the screen in dimly lit rooms.

I truly love this scale. It is small and light, so it is very handy to just put on the shelf by my dishes. It's a breeze to use too. Just enter the code and presto you get calories, carbs, protein, weight and all the other nutritional information needed for that one thing you are weighing. I use a plastic wrap, foil or paper towel to weight. It's awesome!!

I've never found a food scale be very handy...love this one though because the read out is just like a nutrition label. I had to start reading labels several years ago due to health issues. This scale perfectly compliments the process.

This is a impressive scale. The under surface, nutrition facts label, is a practical manner to automaticaly calculate respective cuisine information. Operates exactly as the manual indicates. I would recommend this tool to anyone who is diabetic.

This scale seemed to work, right out of the box, but the display is tiny and a paper plate blocks the view. I will be returning it for a scale that is easier to read.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!

The Code Book (which is required to use the nutrition part of this scale) is missing several pages. Customer service email bounces. Customer service by phone does not answer the phone, but they did call me back once to say a new Code Book would be in the mail -- almost a month now and it has yet to arrive. I have called two more times, but no one answers the phone or returns my call. This scale is useless without the Code Book and obviously their Customer Service is non-existent. Too bad I didn't keep my good old scale that just weighed my food -- at least it worked well.

A Playtoy - Junk

If you want or need a scale then buy a scale, not this thing. I knew this was junk before we bought it but my wife insisted. Now we have to make the trek back to the store to return it. It will not weigh anything under a pound or so. I thought the trick would be to use a tare, but then it gives different weights for the food and doesn't zero out the tare. Why they sell junk like this is beyond me.

Although my scale acted up at first when I tried to use it, after a few tries it began behaving. (Probably user error)
This scale is great for counting points plus on weight watchers, and can be zeroed as you add food to the plate and/or combined for a total based on different types of food. The database has a large number of foods in it, and appears to be very accurate. If you are doing the weight watcher thing, this is a must have, you won't regret it.

After seeing this scale on Dr Oz (he loved it!), we picked one up at the store. It works great and really gives you a lot of information. I use it to watch cholesterol and sodium intake, and my wife counts carbs.
We're not alone -- we've shown it to several friends and everyone thinks it is fantastic!

DO NOT BUY THIS SCALE. firstly, you are paying for a function that you will never use: the food/calorie calculation. determining the weight of food is time consuming in itself, but to look up the number for each item becomes sadistic. then, the scale does not function properly. the weight of an item keeps changing. sometimes it increases as it sits on the scale and other times it decreases.
in addition, the display is impossible to read. the numbers are black on gray and unless there is a direct light on them, they are not clearly viable. as soon as i got this home, and saw the manifold problems i should have returned it! want to weigh your food? buy a $10 balance and get accurate results

I bought this at the store as a gift. Great Christmas present Grandma opened it, pulled the tab to release the batteries and all 'LL LL' on the display. No explanation in the instructions. Grandpa figures it means all 4 batteries are low. We scramble for 4 new AAAs and .... still 'LL LL'. Replace original batteries, repack, find gift receipt and... 24 inches of snow. Oh well at least BBB is good on returns.

Recently my husband's doctor strongly advised him to monitor his sodium intake, calorie count, and cholesterol. He had kidney failure and was pre-diabetic. Changing his eating habits is necessary! This scale is perfect for this!! We can lose weight together and improve our health. The scale is attractive, easy to clean, and light weight. I'm telling my friends to purchase one!

I bought this scale becoz I do Weight Watchers and I have 2 no all the nutritional facts about every piece of food I put in my mouth. Getting all the facts helps me reach the point value 4 everything and anything I eat, since u have 2 count points when u do WW. Also I am obsessed with counting calories so that I know how much I am eating and how much I am burning since I own a Body Bugg device. The food code book that comes with the scale is very helpful. I highly recommend this scale if u r truly trying 2 lose weight by counting every calorie u eat. This scale has in essence been a valuable tool in helping me lose 12 lbs in 4 weeks. Great purchase! Go out and buy it. Worth the 50+ dollars I spent on it.
