I bought the ironing board made in Italy 18" wide and 51" long. Now I can't find a new cover and pad so do I purchase a new board or use the 18" wide and 48" long and tape it to my ironing board, not a happy camper!

With the tag price of this item, I thought we made a good buy and would be a sturdy ironing board...alas, what a disappointment...iron legs came apart. You would think that since it is iron it would last but the putting together of this ironing board very poor! For a $100.00 ironing board, it should be better...a lot better than what it really is!!!!!

I returned the ironing board after much rust with one use. Also the padding and cover was not the same as my previous board I had used for ten years. Because I could not find another board as wide I exchanged it for a new one. Before I used this one, I sprayed the metal frame with 2 coats of rustproof spray paint. No rust now after 2 weeks of use!!! I have solved the problem with some work on my own.......but this is a very easy solution that could be done in Mexico where the board is made.

I bought this ironing board to replace the one I have had for 10 years from BBB. Thought I was buying the same one as before with wider ironing surface. It is NOT the same. After one hour of ironing the metal surface rusted underneath the pad and ruined the white shirt I was ironing. I took the pad off and sure enough the metal mesh was brown with rust. The pad is not the same either, a thin cotton fabric with no lining and a separate cheap thin foam pad.. I will be bringing it back to the store in the morning. $99.99 for this is too much for inferior board.

Sloppy product

Bought this board a month ago and found that one side sloped downhill. It had a severe dent, so I took it back to the store, no problem. Exchanged it for the same board which seemed better. At home took the plastic off, set it up, only to discover it is still sloping to one side. I bought it because it was made in America, but sadly, it is a piece of junk. I am taking it back today and will buy a board that has a level table and I don't care what it costs.

Seriously, can no one make a decent ironing board anymore? My mother's board, which would cost about $20 today, is going strong after 60 years. This board - at $100! -- rusted after 2 uses, and today broke after about 9 months.
I guess the $60 boards here are at least a somewhat better choice, but really: how hard can this be? The manufacture of this product ought to be ashamed.

This ironing board top rusted within 2 weeks of purchase. Rust bled through the cover and stained the white pinpoint shirts I was pressing. Returned and am now suspicious of any other boards!

Steam from my iron brougt rust from the metal board frame up throught the pad and cloth on the first day of use. I also have the crosshatch design from the metal frame on a pair of my husband's silk shorts. Bought this because of the larger ironing surface and the undertray. Returning it because it is so poorly made. Rust stained clothing, crosshatches from the frame because the pad is too thin.

The first day I bought this ironing board to iron my children new uniforms, I started seeing dark spots on the board once I started ironing. On further evaluation there was rust all over the bottom of the metal. However the damage was already done, it had messed up my children white shirt. The next day I returned it, It is not worth the money if you have to deal with rust, otherwise it looked very sturdy.

The Worst!

Purchased this board about 3 months ago for our vacation home. Needless to say, haven't used more than about 4 times. Today started pressing clothes and noticed spots all over my clothes. Tried spot cleaning my shorts, then noticed spots all over the board cover. Took cover off to wash, then noticed spots all up and down the pad. Took pad off, then saw the mesh surface was covered with rust! Great idea to make an ironing board so cheaply that it rusts when exposed to steam after Maybe 4 uses! This was not a CHEAP board, but is JUNK!

Within three weeks the mesh surface of the board had rusted through the pad. While I am the mesh patterned rust stains may be decorative it is a good way to get rust stains on clothes. I am returning this and buying a
different board.

I was looking forward to replacing my old ironing board with this larger model but when I used it for the first time I was very disappointed.
The pad is so thin that I am actually ironing the pattern of the perforated top onto my clothes. This is very damaging to garment.
Also, the top isn't very level. As I iron I can feel the longitudinal support bars running the length of the board.
The rack underneath the board is absolutely useless. It doesn't sit level when it is empty, and when even a single towel is placed on the rack it will bend so much that the towel slides off.
Finally, the iron holder at the end of the board causes the iron to sit at a very bad angle. Most steam irons have a shut off valve the stops the steam once the iron is set upright. The iron rest built in to this board keeps the iron angled too low so it just continually blows steam. This empties the water reservoir quickly and causes condensation from the steam to drip everywhere.
The only reason I gave this review 2 stars rather than 1 is that the board is quite sturdy overall and I like the large ironing surface.

Not a great board

Every time I iron after about 4 shirts I start getting water spots. The first time it happened I looked underneath and the board was wet and starting to rust. I saw online that putting foil under the pad might help so I lined the board with foil. Now the foil gets soaked after a few shirts. The cover has gradually got more stains and dark marks on it until today when I noticed that the cover had cuts in it like someone had used a knife on it. I also got my first ever stains from the cover on shirts. I took the cover off and put it in the machine to wash on the delicate cycle (and it is a front loader) and now the has a huge holes in it where the big dark marks were. Now I've read other comments and realize that I'm not alone in the rusting and wetness (I wondered if it was the iron). I'm pretty sure my board would be rusted out after the last couple of months if I hadn't put the foil on it. Also agree that the cover pad is very thin and extremely difficult to remove. Pretty poor for such an expensive board. I think I'll be finding my receipt and seeing if I can return this.

I purchased the this ironing board and in a short time noticed the retardant cover was streaked and looked burnt. When the cover was removed the rust underneath the carriage was overwhelming. We returned the ironing board thinking we just had a defective board. We even purchased a heavier cover. After two days I checked the under carriage and the replacement was rusting again. I contacted BB&B and ask for a solution. I really liked the size of the board and thought there might be a remedy. The response I received was to wipe down the ironing board after each use. In order to wipe down this board you would have to take the cover off each time. This is not practical. On a positive note...I do enjoy shopping at the BB&B.

Good Board for the Money

-Board has a extension cord and a garment rack, both of which are nice features.
-Wide Top ironing surface
-Board made in America of solid metal construction. Pad is made in Mexico :(
-Board is a little heavy at around 22 pounds, so I'd advise people who aren't strong, or have back issues to have someone else set it up and leave it where you do your regular ironing.
-The board is solidly made, doesn't move when you're ironing. The pad is a little thin, but can be easily upgraded (so that's not a problem).
-A little pricey at $100, but as I said before, is solidly made. On the package it says it comes with a 20 year warranty. Not bad
Highly recommend this board to anyone!

A few months back I set out for a replacement ironing board for my squeaky15" metal base model. I was on a mission to get a wide top board that was also a little higher than the standard height, I'm 5'7". I first tried a bamboo one from Target that was so dissapointing. It was $95 and it was so wobbly. I even pushed directly down on it and i sank 2 inches and then bounced up again. Not safe at all!! Then, I tried another brand from Costco. I got it home to find that plastic pieces on it were all broken. It also had a strange iron rest for a non-steam iron. Who has a non-steam iron anymore? After returning these which is not fun since they are bulky to transport, I decided to ask in store at BBB if they would allow me to open this one and see if it would work before I purchased it. They were so nice!! I opened it and was surprised to find that it went really high. It didn't wobble and the cool cord keeper and iron rest with hanger bar were nice too! I am so pleased!! As far as other comments about the pad being thin, I have found that most pads are thin because you are not supposed to have a thick pad to make good creases. However, I like the pad thicker and I sew, so I took 2 layers of batting and put that under the pad and voila, thick pad. As far as the extension cord not being very long, I've found that if you use the cord keeper, that the cord length for your iron is being used up and thus you don't have more length to plug it in. I believe the intent of the extention is not so you can iron far away from an outlet, but so that you can use the cord keeper and then plug the iron in within a few feet of the board. Hope this helps and with my 20% coupon, it was cheaper than that bamboo one people say is supposed to be good..

Bought a great steam iron too, but with the pad so thin - the mesh is completely rusted over. Won't be long until this breaks. Too bad, I love the size of it.

Sturdy frame, bad board, bad design

Pros: Sturdy construction, integrated extension cord and rack underneath are nice.
Cons: As others have said, the board surface is wavy, uneven, and bends easily. Pad is too thin. And am I the only one that uses the wide end of an ironing board? The rack is nice, but geez, it's totally in the way. I got halfway through a shirt and ripped off the rack. That's when I noticed the board is wavy and thin.
When I realized how much my wife paid for this thing, I got even more mad. This thing is getting returned!

I bought this deluxe, rather high priced ironing board because I wanted quality. I liked that it is heavy, the four feet have spread out legs for more stability, in all observable aspects, the metal appears heavier than most other boards.
Then my wife noticed a dip in the surface of the top, which got me to turn it over. I then observed the reason I gave this item only 3 stars and would not recommend it to anyone. The metal screening mesh that is used to span the reinforcing bars for the top surface is about the thinnest material imaginable and so flexible that a solid surface is not possible. What a SHAME! Such a great board ruined because the manufacturer decided to save a few pennies on cheap screen metal, apparently not realizing that the top is the working surface and the most important part of the board. I returned it and bought one for half the price at Wal-mart. Not near the quality as this one, but the top is much more solid and usable, and that's where it counts.
