Best Coffee Maker Today

I love making coffee from fresh ground beans. This coffee maker is the best, as it grinds the beans then pours extremely hot water over the grinds to give the freshest and best tasting coffee ever. Not the easiest to clean, but dishwasher safe. I am happy with my purchase.

Wish I'd bought something different

Built in grinder only holds enough beans for 6-7 cups. It's twice as loud as my counter top grinder. The grinder is difficult to clean, always stays wet for some reason. When you use pre-ground beans without the built in, there is a non-stop beeping noise when shutting the lid that does not stop unless you inset both pieces of the grinder. The interior parts all get filthy from the grounds being blown in. The basket has a lid constructed of pieces which catch the grinds.I'm washing more than twice as many parts every day that with my last Cuisinart pot, which just stopped working in less than a year. Did not want another Cuisinart, but the choices were extremely limited in the store, and I did not have time to order online.

WEAK coffee

The concept is great. Love not having a mess, but can only put a limited amount of coffee beans or grounds in the machine. At 6 cups of water and beans pilled as high as possible, still made weak coffee. Can't image how a 12 pot would taste.

A Bargain for Great Coffee and Dependability

Not only am I on my second Grind & Brew, my daughters have purchased this coffeemaker and I'm giving it as a birthday gift to friends. It makes outstanding coffee. My family loves good coffee and we purchase darker roast beans to suit our tastes. Drying the grinder with paper towel after washing removes any sediment, making it very quick to brew another pot. This brewer has never caused us a problem and has lasted beyond 3 years each time, using it over and over on weekends with family and houseguests. It's a wonderful buy. You can't go wrong.

We received this coffeemaker from our wedding registry and were excited to have a new one. It worked wonderfully for a week and then the lid would not close all the way. As a result, the machine would not grind, drip, and brew unless someone was holding the lid down a certain way at each stage. I had to return it for a new one.

This is an update from my previous review. Returned original unit because the grinder would not automatically shut off and switch to brewing. New unit does do that, the key is to wait around 20 seconds or so and it will begin brewing your coffee!

Having to Return

I purchased this unit a few weeks ago after my regular coffee maker died after just 2-3 years. So I went after this one since this maker came with a grinder and I wanted to have a fresher cup of coffee in the morning. The coffee does come out tasting great, but the negative aspects were: 1) water came out pretty slow, 2) always had to thoroughly clean the parts after each use when using the grinder, 3) when using the grinder, I would have to turn the coffee off and back on for it to begin brewing.
When I called Cuisinart, they informed me that brewing should automatically begin once grinding is complete. Well that was never the case for me, even though I would wait several seconds after there were no beans left for grinding.

Cuisinart Grind and Brew, Do NOT buy it!

The whole thing is disaster. the cup that holds the beans gets soggy and clogs up. you have to wash and DRY it after each use. with finely-ground coffee, water is pumped into the filter faster than it leaves, thus causing over-spill. the bean cup isn't big enough to make a full pot of strong coffee. we own perhaps 10 Cuisinart products, from popcorn makers to ice cream makers and have been fully satisfied... but this contraption is terrible!

The machine has worked very well. Coffee is very good. The basket where you place the beans is an extra part to clean, but it is easy to clean. It is nice to be able to adjust how long the warmer stays on. When using the paper filter along with included gold mesh filter, there are virtually no grounds in the coffee which is a vast improvement over other grinder/coffee makers. Even without the paper filter, there is only a small amount of fine grounds. Noise has not been unreasonable. I have a concern on durability because the coffee bean receptable needs to be manuevered back into position after cleaning, It is not exactly a problem, but if someone is not patient, it could get broken. Just waiting to see if the cofee maker holds up.

I'm not sure what the major malfunction is regarding having to clean the parts. With my old regular coffee maker, I always cleaned the coffee parts (brew basket and carafe) & left the top lid open of the coffee maker to air dry all day. With the grind & brew, I simply fill the carafe with hot soapy water after I pour my last cup & put the grinder parts in it to soak all day & I rinse the brew basket parts & set in the drying rack. By the time I get home from work, the soaking parts are ready to be rinsed & put in the drying rack. By the time I go to bed, everything is ready for me to set up the coffee to brew in the morning. It takes a total of 5 minutes to clean & prepare the parts. At least 1-2 times a week when my dishwasher is ready to run, I put the washable parts in there so they get an even better cleaning. It's completely worth it to have a fantastic cup of coffee in the morning. So far, I haven't had issues with the whole unit, other than the grinding is a little loud, but serves as an extra alarm clock for me in the morning. ;) Hopefully, there won't be any issues with leaking or anything else negative that some people have experienced. Feeling lucky so far.

I just bought our second Cuisinart today, because the one that we purchased six years ago is dying. Note: we used it everyday (occasionally twice a day) for the entire six years - with no problem. This coffeemaker has outlasted its three-year warranty by three more years. It is a very good product!

Outstanding Coffee Maker

I, too, am surprised by the numerous negative reviews. We purchased our Grind and Brew approximately six years ago. It provided us with excellent coffee through thousands of uses. Yesterday it died. We are planning to purchase a new one today. The quality of the freshly ground cup of coffee is great. It is a bit harder to clean than the conventional type coffee maker; however the extra effort is worth it. It takes less than 5 min. to clean and set up for the next morning. Keep the filters changed and unit cleaned per the directions in the brochure that comes with it.

Just clean with brush

Most of the issues I've seen reported relate to hard water issues and cleaning. I run my water for coffee, tea, etc. through a Brita filter, zero problems. Cleaning has been a matter of a rinse and quick scrub with a bottle brush; no problems. Coffee temperatures have been fine. Wonder what time interval some are setting for the heat element to turn off?

We have had this coffee maker for less then 6 months. Prior to this we had another one just like it and it only lasted 2 weeks. My current one decided to start turning on the grinder in the middle of brewing without the grinder on. It was a little spokey! It has done it for several days now. I don't even know if its using all of the water since the visible water guild is foggy. Carafe drips all over the place when pouring water into the tank. Have to have a towel under it to avoid a mess. The 2nd maker was returned due to leaking out of the bottom after the pot was brewed. Also both did not stay hot for very long. Looking for a new machine now and consumer reports is not very helpful. Was amazed that this one was rated! I would not recommend this brand at all! Not worth the name.

I have to say I am very happy with this coffee maker. It serves a great cup of hot coffee. I live on the coast and our tap water does not taste the best. This filters the water prior to brewing it. It takes the bite out that most coffee makers leave in. It is a process to clean, but it takes less than 5 minutes out of my evening to clean and prepare for the next day. I have been using it for about two weeks and really love it.

I have to admit, I'm surprised at all the less than flattering reviews. I just bought this coffeemaker and so far I love it!
I do have to admit I have to turn the machine to add the water but REALLY it's not a big deal. I love freshly ground / brewed coffee when I come downstairs in the morning, smells great-tastes better. The grinder and other parts do need washing but don't you always wash the carafe, basket, etc. when your done using it, that's really the only way your machine will last and give you optimum tasting coffee. I really like this machine but I am sending in the warrantly because that's always wise for any purchase.

The Grind & Brew Is Great If You Use It Correctly

I was going to order replacement filters for this coffee maker and admit that I was surprised when I saw some of the poor reviews. I cannot imagine this product having the issues described in those reviews, so I was compelled to submit my own. If you enjoy waking up to the aroma and taste of freshly ground coffee, I recommend this coffee maker. If it does any of the things listed in the poor reviews, RETURN IT or use the one year warranty because something is very wrong. I believe that if you use it correctly, you will have delicious coffee. We previously had a Grind & Brew that lasted over three years with daily use (and hard water which eventually caused it to leak). We were so happy with it, we bought another to replace it and we've been using this one for two years now with great results! Oh yes, the grinder is loud but worth it. :)
