Too firm and too thick

I'm a petite woman, 5'1" and this pillow was too thick for me. I could only sleep a few hours on it before my neck hurt so badly that I had to grab a pillow from the couch for the rest of the night. I sleep on my side and occasionally my back, but nothing was comfortable. I returned in the next day.

The best pillow I've ever had

I bought this pillow to replace some very expensive feather pillows. I've owned many types of pillows over the years including the memory foam and pincore foam pillows. I had a serious neck injury so it's difficult to find a pillow which is comfortable. I tried this pillow which i feel exceeds the pillows at 3-4 star hotels. I always sleep great at the better hotels due to their pillow and mattress and was looking to duplicate the experience. This is the best pillow ever!! I did not toss and turn all night with this pillow. (disclosure: I was not paid to write this review and I am a fan of Stearns & Foster mattresses which is what attracted me to the pillow) PS I'm not sure why others have purchased this firm pillow only to complain about it being too firm????

Update

This is up update to my previous review. Well, looks like the rocky relationship has ended. I wound up returning the pillow after I wrote the review. I was getting ready to sleep the next night, and the pillow felt like a rock, it was so hard. I didn't want to put my head on it anymore.
You won't have to worry about puffing this pillow up, just the opposite. You need to worry if it will ever soften up. I've never seen a pillow like this. I would not recommend this to a friend or anyone. I wanted to really like this pillow, which is why my previous review sounded so positive. I really gave it a chance. At the end of the week though, I just felt like I needed a pillow to sleep on, not a rock.

Good So Far

My first night with the Fairmont Enrapture Side Sleeping pillow was very rough. I woke up the next morning with a sharp pain in my neck and aches and pains throughout my body. I never had an experience like this with a pillow before.
The pillow was very firm, almost tough out of the package. It felt like they overstuffed it with filling because it almost felt like a solid mass. When I laid my head on the pillow the first time, it was so hard, my head felt like it was on a trampoline. I would lay my head down and it would bounce back up.
I have used the pillow for 3 nights now. The aches and pain has mostly gone away (still have some), but it's much better now. The pillow feels much softer, thank goodness, much more like a pillow. Now when I put my head on it, it sinks in a little bit, like any pillow should feel.
The pillow is definitely firm, VERY firm. It feels comfortable when sleeping on my side, but when I lay on my back, it feels quite awkward. I realize this pillow is designed for side sleepers, but wanted to give a heads up for anyone who might use this otherwise. I've never seen a pillow like this before. It really is best used for side sleeping.
The reason I purchased this pillow: I have been using goose down pillows the past 7 years or so. They always go limp by the time I awake and it's annoying, having to puff them back up. I had come up on 3 years with my Down Kirkland pillow from Costco and putting it in the dryer was no longer working so I decided to get something that would not require puffing up in the morning.
I also prefer a firm sleeping surface, including my mattress. I figured if my mattress is firm, why not my pillow too? So I tried this pillow which is not the most expensive, but not the cheapest either. It feels like a quality constructed product, like it will last for a long time. It also has an elegant look and feel out of the package with it's satiny looking sides (gussets?).
After the first night, I punched the pillow repeatedly in order to soften it up. I did not realize how firm it was. I would advise anyone using it for the first time, to make their best effort to soften it up. Maybe curl it up and sit on it for a while, or punch it for a bit, anything to make it softer.
I can feel the pillow within the pillow, it feels very firm, almost solid, but it's small. It seems to really hold my head at about the right position when I am sleeping which I guess is good. It's only been 3 days, but I'm kind of excited to see how this pillow can help me. It's been a bit of a rocky start to a relationship, but the curve is trending towards the positive and I may not have to return this pillow after all.
This morning I awoke to a good energy, which is a positive sign. As the pillow gets softer and more forgiving, hopefully the sleep will get even better. As for recommending this to a friend, it's hard to say because this pillow is obviously not for everyone. If my friend were a side sleeper and wanted a good firm pillow, I might recommend this one, but only if he/she would soften it up before using.
