Don't use the Bona Polish!

I am paying it forward. I have been using the Bona cleaner for a year now, and it works great. But I picked up the polish at the store thinking it was the same type of product - it says safe for hardwood floors. I used it and a day later, it left white, hazy streaks all over my floor. I of course, freaked out as our floors were very expensive and only a year old! I googled the problem and turns out this has happened to many, many people and apparently Bona knows about this problem, because they have a Polish Remover product, which removes the polish. I bought that, and its taken me three scrubs, and finally the floors are looking back to normal. So, DONT by the product, and if you do and you encounter this problem, dont worry, the polish remover will take it off. But save yourself this unnecessary and time consuming hassle! DONT BUY THE FLOOR POLISH!
UPDATE: after going over the floors three to four times with the polish remover and alternating with the cleaner, the polish cane off BUT the floor still had a subtle white haze to it. What removed that final remover is white wine vinegar on a dampened bona pad. Now the floors are finally back to how they looked before the floor polish ruined them!

I have tried many different products on my hardwood floors and have found that Bona is the best on the market. I have read all the negative remarks and have no idea why these people had such a difficult time applying. For me, it went on very easily and I had wonderful results.

Satisfied with purchase

I have the true hardwood floors. The kind that are installed, sanded and stained. I use the Bona cleaner and it does a good job. However, the mop handle is worthless. Broke after a few times using it. I recently purchased the high gloss polish. It is time consuming. However, my floors look great. The floors were installed three years ago and this is the first time I used the polish. Wish I had used it at the very beginning. After reading the other results I am wondering if the Bona polish should not be used on prefinished floors.

1 Star is too many - the polish is HORRIBLE

The cleaner is great. The polish is HORRIBLE. The same thing happened to me as did ConwaySC. After allowing the polish to dry for a full 48 hours, paw prints started showing up days after I allowed my dog to walk on the floor. Thinking this was my mistake and I didn't let the polish dry long enough, I re-polished the floor about a month later and didn't allow the dog to walk on the floors for a whole week. The dog prints came back worse than ever and my floor had a strange grimy haze to it. I contacted Bona who sent me 4 bottles of the Polish Remover at no charge.
If you have same problem I did with Bona polish, use the polish remover - it works. Too bad the process is incredibly tedious. It took me 1 hour to remove 30 sqft of polish. Too bad I have 700 sqft of floor to deal with.
I have talked to several hardwood floor companies and even had one come out to my house to look at my floors. Here is what I learned: You do not need to use polish if you have pre-finished/professionally installed hardwood floors. All three hardwood floor companies I talked to said that other people have called them in the past seeking advice because of issues created with the Bona Polish. Please save yourself the time and money and do not purchase this product.

DO NOT USE BONA POLISH ON POLY COAT HARDWOODS!!!

Unfortunately I did not Google the reviews for the Bona Polish"High Gloss". I purchased the Bona cleaner for my brand new hardwood floors to clean as I was told NOT to use water/vinegar on hardwoods. I used the cleaner but it left a dull residue on the hardwoods. So, I found the Bona Polish in one of the big box home stores and read the info on label and Bona recommended to use on all hardwoods including any hardwoods with a polyureathene coating. So thinking the polish would give my floors a nice shine "polish" I thought this would be the result I wanted...WRONG!! A few days after the application I started to see dull splotchy area's on the floors and having a dog...I was also seeing his paw prints all over the place!! It's horrible....!! Now I have to purchase the Bona Remover $$$$ to remove this stuff and I read that the remover is messy and time consuming. Do yourself a favor DON'T PURCHASE THE POLISH!!! A lot of the old timers that have used the Bona products in the past have stated this stuff was great way back when..but the product is not what it used to be and is recommending against using any of the Bona products....:(

Diappointed

My husband impulsed this after watching the infomercial. The cleaner seems to be ok, but the polish stripped the finish off my hardwood, in a brand new house (we have only lived here 6 months, and it was a new build). I am not happy, because now I have to figure out the best way to fix the finish on my new floors!

The cleaner's ok, but the mop broke

The cleaning system is ok, but the mop broke about halfway through my first time using it. It was fine for the dust mop, but I'd only done about half a room with the cleaner before it snapped at the join between two of the sections of the pole. Anyone know where I can get a new pole?

Please bring back the Orange Glo product line!!!

This Bona system is terrible. I know they own the Orange Glo brand, but the Bona brand is not user friendly, and I don't think it has results that are as good as Orange Glo. Plus, the Orange Glo has a 2 in 1 product that cleans and shines, and dries in about 1 minute. This system, in order to get a shine, you have to wait for 1 HOUR before you can walk on your floors. Who has time for that???? I wouldn't recommend this product to my worst enemy . PLEASE, bring back the Orange Glo, or lose me and my impulse purchases to your competitors!

Very good product, but very flimbsy mop. If you use any amount of pressure to clean the floor, the mop does not hold up.

When we installed our hardwood floors every wood finisher who gave us estimates highly recommended this product. I purchased a kit when the work was done and am very happy with it. The duster picks up more than the disposables on the market. The cleaner works great leaving a nice clean smell. I did not have a problem with the handle splitting maybe that was a fluke.
Right now I'm considering a larger size pad to cover more area.

Bona Hardwood Care System

I love the products and the cleaning pad. However, the handle does not hold up at all. I have had to tape it as it split on the 4th usage. I cut my hand on the split pole. I was able to use it, taped up with duct tape, for another 8 times before the other part of the pole split. I would not recommend this handle.
