Customer Reviews for Essenergy Vita Clay® 6-Cup Rice N' Slow Cooker

Essenergy Vita Clay® 6-Cup Rice N' Slow Cooker

The Essenergy Vita Clay Rice N' Slow cooker is one of the most remarkable rice cookers yet. Instead of utilizing a metal basket to cook in, the Vita Clay cooker utilizes all-natural, pure, unglazed and slightly pourous clay which brings out the true texture and flavor of your food while using half the energy of most metal cookers. It has the ability to cook rice (from brown to sticky) and to make stews and soups to according your liking. Automatic warming feature keeps your food warm for up to 12 hours for easier preparation any time in the day. Clay cooking vessel construction boils up to four times faster than conventional slow cookers and slowly simmers back down for gourmet perfection. Unit measures approximately 14.25" L x 10" W x 10.5" H with a 6-cup (1.5 quarts) capacity. Includes removable clay cooker and lid. 500 watts. UL listed. One-year limited manufacturer's warranty.

I replaced a rice steamer that had a removable metal liner. It worked OK. but would boil over sometimes.
My new Vita Clay Steamer works better than I thought it would. Very pleased with the quality of the cooked rice. Looking forward to trying soups and stews.

I've had my Deni Zisha Clay Rice cooker for over 5 years and wouldn't consider anything else, when I bought it was concerned about the POTF and PotA of most Japanese-style rice cookers....Don't want the added toxins...So just like the old clay pot my grandma used to make clay-pot chinese 1 pot dishes decided to try it. Wow! Rice is great, must work to adjust the water amounts for certain rices. but have cooked Quinoa, couscous, barley and bean soup,Cassoulet and even Irish Steel cut oats . Made stew with it and Jook/Congee great do it all pan. Note: after 5 years noticing a small hairline crack in pot but not leaking. I don't know what the "gripey" lady's problem is I think she got confused with replacing the whole cooker. I checked online for a replacement bowl and lid set and they are only $24.00!! so going to buy two so I can use one just for savory cooking and as a backup. Nothing more natural than a clay pot it does retain heat like a slow cooker but cooks faster, I brown my meat in a skillet first and say for Pot roast then add ingredients and hit stew...and wait BAM!!! finito! Perfect braised pot roast with nice carmelized onions....So I reccommend it. Note: rice can brown on bottom if left on warm setting for longer than 1 hour. I find if I turn it off as soon as the rice "beeps" done. the ambient hit will keep the rice warm for a long time. Much longer than an aluminum pot. Also none of the flavoring that AL pans can put off!

This is a great and versatile pot. I purchased one for myself and decided to purchase one as a gift. The gift box came slightly damaged which was disappointing. If I didn't know the gift recipient as well I would have had to exchange it. When I placed the online order I expected BB&B to take greater care with delivering a pristine product.

I ordered this because of a recommendation from a friend. I do love the way it cooks, but I have to say I am fearful every time that I am going to break the cover. It seems very fragile.

Wow..... after less than 2 months of normal, appropriate use the pot cracks. I talked with customer service. The replacement cost would be 80dollars dollars that includes shipping. I just don't see paying 80 dollars maintenance every couple of months for a product like this. My advice is to not purchase Vita Clay.

This cooker is excellent for cooking rice including brown rice...It does the job very quickly and it keeps it warm even when turned off for hours inside the pot......However, be very gentle with the clay pot lid etc, if you drop it it can crack easily, although Bed-Bath-Beyond is usually very prompt with replacements when under warranty

I have something going in this cooker every day. I have done rice, beans & soups so far and absolutely love it. I can change the water out in the beans half way through, and it heats the new water so fast to continue the cooking. It's great!!

I used it to make Asian white rice and Asian rice porridge, great taste, great outcome. Safe, no more standing next to the stove to watch fire for making porridge. Automatically warm after it's done cooking, easy to clean, no more worry about the pot gets scratch or such. The clay pot is not heavy, feel like 1lb to me.
I can't wait to use it to make Chinese soup and brown rice in this. The clay pot also brought the flavor as it promised. Picky eater would notice.
Highly recommend.
