Worst Vacuum Ever Purchased

I will completely agree with the previous review, yet my problems were different. I did my homework before buying this less than 2 years ago. I was rated very well and everything i could find out it was telling me to buy. Hoover's a reputable company, right? Within 20 months the power flood head stopped working due to electrical issues in the hose. Now it's a 2-person job; one person carries the canister and holds the hose in place, while the other operated the wand attached to the powered floor brush.
I have battled with the "local authorized repair shop" to get this fixed for 3 months now. I wrote a complaint letter to Hoover, and nothing.
I've had better $50 vacuums from walmart than this waste of $300. If only I had the receipt intact (AWESOME THERMAL PAPER BB&B!) Even though it was a wedding registry gift, it shows as not purchased from my registry.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Worst vacuum Ever

I selected this vacuum for several reasons: a great look, made by a previously well-respected manufacturer, well-rated by Consumer Reports, (my Bible),and with a 3 year warranty. This is one lousy product. Steer clear of it. While it has a handsome look, it was a constant problem within a few uses. The hose is very narrow and gets clogged with just plain dust from routine cleaning. The dust collects in the crook of the handle after only a few uses. The dust has to be manually removed, if you can get to it. The latest glitch I found is that the opening in the bag is larger than the piece that goes into it, allowing dust and dirt to fly back into the machine, clogging that mechanism, which causes the "bag full" light to go on despite the fact that the bag is not full at all; bag full=no suction. Hoover's Customer Service sent me new bags, and their people told me to wash the 2 filters in the machine, although the instructions that come with the machine, do not mention cleaning one of the filters, but replacing it annually. When nothing they told me to do seemed to solve the bag full/no-suction problem, they told me that if there was something blocking the hose, that was actually not under their warranty, so I would have to take the machine to one of their authorized repair shops, which was in the outer boroughs. (How many people in Manhattan have this capablility? I had a car and could go the vacuum cleaner store in Flushing, where I was told by the repairshop mechanic that the problem was that ordinary dust had collected in a crook of the hose. He was able to dislodge it with reverse suction. The same thing happened again a few weeks later, but I thought while a nuisance, I now knew what to do in the future. The future came all too quickly. Dust clogged the hose within a few uses, followed by the discovery of the faulty bag opening design. I had had a very reliable and sturdy Sears machine for 14 years and a reconditioned Electrolux for 20+ years before that. Both were virtually problem-free. I purchased this Hoover at BB&B because of their no-hassle return policy, which I am about to invoke, as this machine is a nightmare. I'm talking regular vacuuming of a standard 1 BR apt. ev. other week. It's been a constant series of problems. I'm not sure what to buy now, but at least I feel confident with BB&B because they will take the clunkers back.
