I have a fetish for recycling, and this helps make recycling more convenient for my family of 4. The blue bin is a bit small, I empty it about every 1-2 days. We just used up the trash bags that came with it for the larger side and recently started using a standard size kitchen trash bag. So far seems to work fine. Not many fingerprints gather on it, which is nice. I love having a foot pedal. It is grossly overpriced, but works well in our newly renovated kitchen.

I'm thrilled with this purchase. I've had it for over 6 months and no complaints whatsoever. My cats can't get inside and go through the trash, it keeps out odor, it couldn't be better! You don't need to buy the expensive trash bags they recommend. Instead, you can buy any 13 gallon bags you want and use those. Best purchase!

Many of the products in our home are simplehuman, and this product lives up to the brand. Excellent quality and design. Easy clean up. As with these items, you have to buy special bags - know what to expect. Also, my husband and I found we are having to empty the trash more due to the bin size. When we entertain, this is perfec to use purely for recycling (cans in one side, bottles other) and then have a large trash can nearby. LOVE this can - but expect to sacrifice some capacity and deal with bag specifications.

So far, this garbage can has been great! We've only had it for a month - purchasing after having a different Simplehuman model for years. I was first worried that the 2 separate containers would each be too small. However, they are perfectly sized. And, no hard to remove smears or fingerprints. Cleans right up to like new even with just a wet cloth. Will continue to buy this name brand!

The unit does everything that it claims to do, i.e., holds both your recycling as well as regular trash. The food pedestal opens easily and smoothly, which is not always the case with the foot-activated models on the market. It closes slowly & quietly once you've deposited your trash and are walking away. The recycling bin is a bit narrow so it doesn't allow for several, say, 2-liter bottles or things of that size. The bins come out easily with the grooves on the side and the holes on the bin itself for moving. I like the unit although the don't like the idea of having to buy special bags for recycling, as they're marked with an "H" if I'm not mistaken. I just use the bin and take it directly to the recycling can for my building instead of buying special recycling bin bags. It works better than the unit that I bought with sensors that open the unit when I pass my hand in front of it!

I wish the recyling side was a little larger, though I may try what others recommended and start placing the recycling on the larger side and the regualr garbage in the smaller compartment! I have owned Simple Humans in the past and have never had a problem with the foot lever breaking or sticking. Also, as long as you secure the trash bag around the pull out plastic bin you can use any tall kitchen bag. We dump the recycle bin about every 2 days so a family of 3 or more may want something bigger. I researched this for about 3 months before purchasing and I am very satisfied. Gave this a 4 out of 5 stars because of the high price tag. I recommend keeping a soft cloth near by to wipe down from time to time because of spills and dullness. Shipped in box, no assembly required. I sometimes store my foldable ladder behind it and both the trash can and step ladder stay put.

I love this trash can! I use regular tall kitchen bags in the larger size (just twist so it is tight around the top and push the twisted end thru the hole in the back of the liner - stays in place great!) and I use the blue recycle side without a liner. Dogs stay out, odors stay in, and it's a classy design, so it looks good in my upscale kitchen. I flatten boxes/cardboard to take less space. I don't mind that it fills and I have to take it out a little more frequently (every other day or so at the most). We have to use special blue bags for our non-paper recycle and a big blue bin with wheels to take paper recycle to the street, so I have found that keeping these larger cans in the garage and emptying from the inside cans is no big deal - who wants to "store" their garbage inside anyway? Not a big deal to carry it out. I simply rinse out the blue side when I bring it back in, and have never had any issues. The only minor thing I dislike about it is that when the lid is open, it is taller that the top of the countertop. Mine is at the end of a row of cabinets, so if I step on it hard, it swings up fast and smacks the end of the countertop (no big deal, I've learned to use an easier "step" on the pedal and it opens slowly enough that it doesn't hit the counter). It closes slowly/quietly and there's never a slam on the way down. This is expensive for a trash can, but it looks good and it doesn't show smudges. Both my grown children got one too, they liked mine so well!

We looked for quite a while for a kitchen garbage can with recycle also.We were so tired of having 2 receptacles taking up room. So happy when we found this Simple Human product. We actually use the larger side for recycle and the smaller one for garbage. We have only 1 complaint. The bags for the larger side fit tightly as the product claims. However, the smaller one takes the D bags and they do NOT fit tight around the top. We have to remove the larger receptacle and pull down on the side of the bag in the smaller one to keep the top of the bag from peeking out when lid is closed. Otherwise, we love this product.

I bought this last year and am very happy with it. I especially like the "no fingerprint" aspect. I suggest that users switch compartments as the recycle side is very small. We have much more recycling than waste and once we made the switch it works very well...try it.

I purchased this trash can from my registry and it is pretty awesome and convenient. However, the recycling portion of it is a bit small and tight, it doesn't fit many cans, bottles or plastic recycling items. The bag when taken out is not even half full so I put it on the side fill it throughout the day, week or whatever and then take it out.
Therefore, I do recommend it and I do not.

I bought this trashcan for the aesthetics and for the utility. It's a bit small recycling wise (Definitely not a problem for me) but perfect in every other way.
