Poorly Designed Product Made in China

This coffee maker doesn't have more than one heat setting and the coffee isn't very hot. The unit appears to be part chrome in the photo like Cuisinart products formerly made in the U.S., but this part of the unit is painted plastic. The control knob is also plastic and very flimsy. The coffee pot is basically a thermos with a narrow opening and a screw on lid, so the pot must be turned upside down to remove all of the coffee and it is very difficult to clean.

Do Not Buy This Product

This is the worst coffee maker I've ever purchased. The coffee does not brew hot enough, and the carafe doesn't keep the coffee warm; not even for 30 minutes. I go to the trouble of HEATING WATER and pouring it into the carafe and letting it sit for a minute to try to keep the coffee warm. Even that doesn't work. Also, I think it's hard to pour from the carafe, and the carafe is hard to clean.
I'm returning it tomorrow.

An absolutely terrible purchase. In less than three months it just flat out broke. All of a sudden it wouldn't brew and instead leaked water all over the counter. I replaced it with one from Target that cost less than $10 and only has an on-off switch.

PURCHASED ONE IN NOVEMBER--PIECES CAME APART FROM BASKET!! BROUGHT IT BACK AND IT WAS REPLACED WITH SAME COFFEE MAKER--(BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE A RECEIPT--OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN A DIFFERENT BRAND). THIS DOES NOT KEEP COFFEE HOT--YOU HAVE TO REHEAT IN MICROWAVE. I ALWAYS THOUGHT CUISINART WAS TOP OF THE LINE!! NOOOOO-- IT IS THE BOTTOM OF THE LINE!!!! BOO ON THIS COFFEE MAKER!!

Not sure why others are having water temperature issues, but I am not- Between 2 people the coffee is gone in a 2 hour period, and the coffee is still warm... not HOT, but warm. Does the job fine thus far: no leaks, right temp, and it makes coffee.

Not a good buy

I had another Cuisinart with a thermal carafe that worked well for several years, so I decided to purchase another one. The carafe on this model is useless for keeping coffee warm. The coffee is not even very warm straight out of the coffee maker, but after 10 minutes or so it has cooled to the point one needs to microwave the coffee. The instructions do say to pre-heat the carafe, but given how poorly it insulates, it would take pouring boiling water in the carafe and letting it sit for a few minutes. That's a lot of trouble -- I'd suggest getting a cheaper brand of maker and just pour the coffee into a separate good quality carafe.

I was so excited to buy this coffee maker! Yes it makes a great cup of coffee BUT in order to keep your coffee hot you must "pre-heat" the stainless carafe. I use the automatic brew system on this coffee maker. So why have the automatic if I must first pre heat the carafe? Does not make any sense!!!!!

Broke after a few months

We purchased this model because our old Cuisinart was constantly overflowing onto the counter. After four months of use, this one has started to have the same issue. One morning, it works perfectly. The next, we wake to find coffee all over the counter and the pot half full. We have changed filters, cleaned the ball in the lid, and run the cleaning cycle, but we can't figure out what causes the mess. This one is going in the trash and we won't make the mistake of buying a Cuisinart again.

rust developed

I have had this pot for one year and really like it, but for one exception. About two months ago the black paint began coming off of the plate that the thermal carafe sits on. Those areas began to develop rust spots. At first I thought it was just coffee stains, but discovered it was rust. Other reviews with this issue from other sites have indicated rust may eventually got through the bottom and stain the counter. Will the Bed Bath and Beyond store take this back for replacement or must I go without a coffee pot and pay the charges to the company for mailing it in?

We purchased this coffee maker 6 mos ago. Absolutely love it! So far, no problems at all. I've never had a coffee carafe keep my coffee warm for so long. 6 hours later and the coffee is still hot.

Wrong info

It is not fully automatic if you have to press the on/off bottom every day in order to brew the next day, then it's not fully automatic, or programmable. And since this unit uses a Thermal Carafe, why does it need a heating plate? That is very dangerous.

this was the worst coffee maker we have ever had. we got it for our wedding, because we registered for it. What a mistake. We kept it for a month or so and every other time we used it the entire pot of coffee ended up on the counter. we even read the instructions to see if their were some tips to make it work better. don't waste your money!

Excellent Coffee Maker!

I've had this coffee maker for a few years and have had no issues. Easy to use - great tasting coffee. This coffee maker doesn't have a warming plate, it has a resting plate because the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot. No need to worry about the coffee being burnt up when the level gets low! I love the thermal carafe as I can drink hot coffee throughout the day. Ive never experienced a spillage or overflow issue. I also love the gold filter as it eliminates the need for the optional disposable paper filter - just rinse the gold filter when dumping the grounds. This maker has a timer which is awesome and a pause feature which allows you to grab a cup of joe befor the pot is done brewing. Be aware when getting a cup of joe prior to the entire pot being brewed the first cup will be very strong and the rest of the pot will be weaker - it's just the way it works when brewing any coffee... Be sure to use cold water when filling and remember to change the water filter as recommended every 60 days.

Awful - MAJOR FIRE HAZARD!!

I have to say that as long-time user of Cusinart products, that I was very disappointed with this coffee maker. After less than a year of ownership, this unit caught fire this morning, just after making a pot for my wife and I. I was sitting in my dining room, reading the paper, when I heard a popping sound coming from the kitchen, followed very quickly by the smell of melting plastic. As I raced into the kitchen, lo and behold, I found that the warming plate and surrounding plastic were both glowing red, the coffee in the pot had started to boil and the paint on the warming plate and some of the surrounding plastic were smoking and starting to melt. I unplugged the maker and plopped it outside in the rain to put the fire out - guess I can thank the remnants of Hurricane Isaac for being my ready source of fire extinguisher!
This is terrible quality for a rather pricey coffee maker, esp. for a a high end brand that touts its quality. Sadly, upon Googling this coffee maker, there are hundreds and hundreds of complaints of just the same kind of electrical failure and fire hazard on this unit. It should be pulled off the market immediately!!!

Worst Coffee Maker!!!!

The coffee is as hot as tepid bathwater....always. Additionally, the coffee periodically leaks out before it can drain into the coffee pot...thusly leaving me with a soaking wet and now warped countertop. If I could give it NO stars...I would!

If I could give this coffee pot less than one star, I would. First of all, other folks on this review site are correct: the coffee is NEVER more than luke warm, even right after brewing! Secondly, whoever designed it should've made a "pathway" from the pot through to the spout so it pours easily. As it is now, you have to be a Cirque du Soleil contortionist (bending your arm and body almost upside down!) in order to pour the dang thing! What a joke! If you are smart: never, ever buy this product!

Simple, hot coffee

I've had this coffee maker for 2 years and i love it. I prefer the thermal pots over the glass pots. The coffee stays hot for hours without getting that bitter burnt taste from sitting on a burner. Just make sure the lid is on tight to keep it hot. This coffee maker is simple to use (though I think most are) and it makes good coffee that keeps hot for hours. What more do you need? The coffee does pour out slower that a glass pot but that is because of the thermal design. If you need your coffee faster, you can just unscrew the lid.

are there really that many stupid people that can't fill and operate a coffee pot correctly without spilling? I have had this pot for many months and I love it. I like coffee for several hours after I get up and it stays hot in the carafe, even though I use the programable method, setting it up at night. I have never had a spill from the spout nor has it ever leaked onto my counter. I plan on buying a second one for my summer home!

Hot, fresh Starbucks all the time

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews on this maker. I drink only Starbucks (BOLD) and have no issues with weakness and no leaking/spilling of any kind. Coffee from morning brew is still hot hours later. It is a basic maker - add coffee/brew/drink - so if you want all the extras this isn't for you......but........if you want to make good hot coffee, it's perfect!!!!!!
