It's nice to not have to pull the bag out half way to get it full...can fill it all the way, take it out to the big can! :)

As for quiet...others must of had some really noisy cans before...to me this one makes much more noise than my previous can...oh well, it's a trash can!

I like it, I'll keep it!

I tend to research things until my eyes go crossed, so after I finally decided on this garbage can I trekked on over to the nearest BB&B store (20% coupon in hand) and laid down the dough for this beast! I absolutely LOVE this garbage can! It is so quiet when the lid closes, and it keeps all the nasty smells out (unlike my old plastic can that was horrendous). I fill this thing to the top and then smash it down and fill it some more! By the time I take the bag out, I cannot fit anything else in. This makes it much nicer than having 10 bags on the curb on garbage day! It is a little pricey, but in this case, you definitely get what you pay for!

Expected better condition

I have been searching online and in stores for a new stainless steel trash can. I finally decided on this one. Like previous reviews, for the money I paid, I expected it to come out of the box in perfect condition. I even made sure to inspect the box for outside damage, and opened the top to see that it was still wrapped up like it came straight from the manufacturer. When I got it home, took it out of the box, and unwrapped it, I noticed it had scrape marks around the edge of the lid. Clearly it was packed this way from the manufacturer and sent to the store. I am very disappointed that quality assurance did not notice this and remove it from the line. It is a very big inconvenience for me to pack it back up and return to the store so I guess at this point I am stuck with it. Next time I will completely unwrap all items to make sure they are in pristine condition BEFORE leaving the store.

I love this garbage can. I was a bit leery on spending the money on it, but I took the plunge and did. I am glad I did. My only issue is that there is a 4" hairline scratch across the top of the lid. Not worth driving the 40 min to the closest BB&B to exchange it, but for the $$ I expected perfection.

The simplehuman semi-round brushed stainless steel step on can is not only a beautiful design, but practical and beautifully executed. I love it. It's quiet, keeps the odors in the can until I change the linings which fit perfectly and it really is fingerprint free!

Great trash can but...

I have no qualms about the simplehuman 40-liter can, which I love. The reason I give this product only three stars is because of the condition it came in. The outer box was ripped and dented in, making the trash can's cardboard box dented as well; leading me to believe the trash can may have been damaged. Given how much I spent on the can, I would/should expect the boxes to be in decent shape.

This is a great trash can. It seems kind of silly spending a lot of money on a trash can, but it makes all the difference in my kitchen. It closes very quietly and doesn't take up a ton of room. I was concerned that it wouldn't hold as much trash as I am used to due to the way it is shaped, but it does. It looks nice in a kitchen if you have to have a trash out in the open (not under your sink or something). Highly recommend this!!

I never thought I'd get so excited over a trash can, but I LOVE this can!! It stands up to the website's product description and all of the reviews. All of it's features are great and actually work... ie: quiet/slow close, stays open when needed, hidden trash bag, fingerprint-proof, etc. And it's the perfect size for the kitchen, plus looks great enough that you won't want to keep it hidden.

I recently let a neighbor who has decided to "redecorate" my home talk me into purchasing a new trash can for my kitchen. My white plastic one that I've had for 12 years turned her stomach, even though I worked at keeping it white. I'm extremely happy with this decision. It is worth every penny. It is gorgeous, quiet, has a foot pedal which makes it so easy to use! It is one of the best decisions I've made. My husband even commented on it very positively! I highly recomment this. We are empty nesters so I chose the 40 liter but it comes in a 50 liter as well. I also like that it doesn't show fingerprints as I have two small grandsons. You won't regret the decision if you purchase one of these. Excellent quality.

When I received this as a shower gift, I was already excited. Previously we'd had a white plastic trash can and it attracted so much dirt. The stainless is awesome. Very easy to keep clean. Also, I really love the quite slow close top. Finally, it fits perfectly in the small space we have for our trash can. So happy with this gift!
