Curtain rod shows rust

After only about six months there are rusty looking marks on the bottom of the curved rod. Looks old and rickety and very unattractive. Other than that I liked the product but probably wouldn't purchase it again because of the look. Now I would like to find a replacement for the rod ONLY. Really don't want to have to pay for the whole thing and only use the rod. I'm stuck with this model because we installed it over ceramic tile so I don't want to mess with another model. I expected more from Moen.

Not a bad product at all

I was scared initially by some of the reviews but went ahead and bought it anyways.

The installation is a little tricky on tile, you will need to purchase some tile/masonry anchors from your local home improvement store. Most come in a kit with the wall plug, screws, and a drill bit for under $10. Make sure to purchase #10 screws/anchors. If the tiles are glazed it may be tricky to get the drill bit to bite in. I used a pinhead punch and a hammer to gently tap and score the surface first.

My total installation time was about 20 minutes.

I have no issues with the open style hooks hanging up on the bar. It comes with a little plastic transition ramp that gets pressed inbetween the two bars like most of the adjustable rods have.

Overall I'm satisfied with the look and installation. Time will tell to see if it weathers the moisture.

Hooks Fall off the Rod

Bought the Brushed Nickel Curved Rod because of the Moen Name. I hung a beautiful fabric shower curtain with brushed Nickel shower hooks, These hooks are "open". In other words they do not lock shut. Everytime you slide the curtain it hits the "bump" on the rod making the hooks fall off the rod and the shower curtain fall to the floor! What a pain in the rear. I bought UGLY locking closed hooks but they look so cheesey. So I bought an EXPENSIVE hookless shower curtain with a snap in liner & a "window" to let light in. Well it slides better on the shower rod bump - only slight sticking - and the curtain does not fall to the floor. PROBLEM NOW is the "fabric window" in the shower curtain allows spraying water to escape the shower area into the main batroom area. I do not know where I go from here?!?!?!??

Bad Finish

Great idea, easy to install, works super, looks good but brushed nickle finish is showing lots of staining after about a year. Still works fine, but rod looks a little dirty. Tried to clean and discovered it's stained/discolored and cleaning didn't correct the issue.
Too bad - I'd of given this shower rod 5 stars otherwise.

I am getting ready to buy another one of these for a second bathroom we're remodeling. I bought the first one over a year ago, and it still looks brand-new. I was surprised by the reviews that said they saw rust on theirs. I have not had that experience. I highly recommend this shower rod.

Great unit in design, however unfortunately, the Brushed Nickle finish on the rod was totally deficient: Within 6 months the underside of the rod (not the wearing surface on the topside) rusted horribly and looked like an old rod of ten years+. The companion double sided shower curtain hooks by Moen also rusted. Fortunately, Bed Bath & Beyond promptly honored its warranty and replaced all rusted parts without cost or hassle. Moen deserves a 1 star rating for product quality with this particular unit; B,B&Y gets 5 stars for the prompt, courteous action its employees exhibited.

Importantly, the installation of the unit was straight-forward, easy for even a non-handyman, and resulted in a professional fit and function - too bad the finish on the one unit I received didn't stand up to the otherwise fine name and quality of Moen products.
