I bought this can opener for my mother who has arthritis & has trouble using can openers. She was able to use this can opener very easily. Like other reviewers said, it looked like it did not open the can the first time it was used. It opens the can with no sharp edges, no mess & the lid does not drop into the can. The can opener also has a retractable cord.

I bought one of these a few years ago and it quit opening cans in less than a year. In August 2012 I bought a new one thinking the cutting blade had been improved. Wrong... Here it is in May 2013 and it has stopped opening cans. Goes around 3-4 times and then you have to pry off the lid with a bottle opener. I will never buy another one. Into the trash......

Received This item as a gift that came from Bed Bath & Beyond. Worst can opener ever. Would not recommend to anyone, even my worst enemy. Had it less that 4 months when it quit opening all types of cans. Warranty Service wants you to pay for them to replace.

We love this can opener. It opens cans differently, with a method that does not leave the top with that shape edge all around. It cuts the lid off around the perimeter...it's very cool. Highly recommend this typically boring gadget for the kitchen. We love it!

Had purchased an expensive Cuisnart and it was a piece of JUNK. Returned it and got another Cuisinart and again had to bring it back and decided to give this HAMILTON BEACH a try. So happy that I did. Do not hesitate buying this product.

This is the best electric can opener I've ever bought! It has a nice heavy base so it will not tip over even with heavy cans and it gives a very nice even, clean cut without any shards of metal. It also comes with a small pair of scissors that are very handy to have plus the scissors fit in the back of the can opener. Another plus to the can opener is that it does not take up very much space on the counter.

My husband and I LOVE this can opener. It saves a lot of pain of having to turn a manual one just to get a can open. It's very easy to use, does not take up a lot of space, and makes a clean cut on any can. We have had it for several months now and it has not broken or faltered. I've had this can opener just a little over a year and the blades are so dull all it does is sliver the lid and doesn't open a thing. And of course, you can't buy new blades and it's outside the 1 year warrenty. I will never get another. Thankfully they're pretty cheap, but I won't get another opener that opens cans this way. I will go back to the sharp edges. At least they will last longer.

This can opener doesn't work at all. We tried it on several cans to make sure it wasn't the can and it didn't open a single one. We returned it to the store. I'd rather just use a handheld opener since I know that works.

We registered for this and received it at our wedding shower. I had read and compared reviews before registering for this item and thought it looked like the best choice. I've had it for 2 months so far, and it works really well. I like how it makes the edges of the lids more compact, instead of the normal cut, where the edge is extremely sharp. I wish it hung on the wall or under the cabinets somehow instead of having to take up limited counter space, but that's our apartment's fault, not the can opener's.

Dangerous Slivers of metal

I purchased this can opener a little over a year ago and have never been happy with it. The way it cuts the top makes it virtually impossible to lift the lid off of some cans, especially those whose contents create a little suction. As the machine cuts the lids it creates little splinters of metal on the can. I’ve had these slivers end up in my hand more than once and they are painful. I’m afraid they will also end up in my food. I’ve decided to write Hamilton Beach and toss this thing in the trash. I feel that the danger it poses warrants its being recalled and taken off the market. I especially feel that Bed Bath & Beyond should stop selling it.

Can Not Opener

I purchased this opener and it worked on smaller cans but not on all cans the size for corn and green beans. I kept it and it just got worse. Stored it in the cupboard and used my hand can opener.I should have taken it back right away. I did find my receipt and wrote Hamiltion Beach an e-mail since the warranty had not expired and told them about the problem I was expierencing.They asked me to fax them the receipt and then cut off the cord and send them $9.99 for the shipping of the new one. I did not want to pay any more money towords a pc. of Junk. I wrote Hamilton Beach and told them they either ship me the new product at no cost or lose a customer since the product was defective from the beginning. It was their choice to make and they chose to lose a customer. I threw it away. FYI If you decide to buy this product THE FIRST CAN that it does not open take it back. Save your receipt and the box for the first 90 days. I will never buy or own another Hamilton Beach product again b/c they chose not to keep a customer over $10.
