Best Salad Spinner I've EVER Used!!!

My wife and I were looking at salad spinners a couple years ago when we ran across this one. I didn't want the old "string type," because the string is going to break eventually. I liked the "pump action" kind, but they were going for $30-$50... uh... To spin lettuce in a circle? $30-$50???

Okay, I'll spin it over my head in a pillow case before I put that kind of money into a salad spinner! We found this one for $20... ($16 after our 20% off coupon) and gave it a spin... so to speak.

It's been over two years now and it has performed amazingly well. In fact I like it BETTER than the "pump action" models I'd been used to before! It has a very large capacity, so if you FILL it I also recommend the spin-toss-spin method to get the inner leaves dry, but that goes for any spinner.

I had to write this review after looking up the model information for my dad so he can get one. I noticed there were some low reviews... This thing either got one star or five stars! Trust me... It's truly a five-star product! BTW, inside the top lid is a plastic plate and two finger "grabs"... That's a clue people! Grab them and you can lift the plate off for easy cleaning, then snap it back on. Just a tip!

Oh! One more thing! It has a brake! Just push the handle the other way to stop it. My mother-in-law is prone to take the lid off while it's spinning. That's great if you want to shower yourself in salad. Me? I use the brake.

I cannot recommend this product highly enough! It is SOLIDLY built... In fact last night we washed and "spun" eighteen pounds of grapes for our dehydrator to transform into raisins. A half-full basket full of grapes is heavy and this baby spun 'em dry without even breathing hard.

Easy to Use But Doesn't Work

It does not dry the salad greens. I rinsed the salad in the green basket and shook out as much water as possible before spinning. After spinning, draining and fluffing 3 times the salad was still wet. I finished drying the salad with a paper towel.
The spinner seems to be well constructed and easy to use but ineffective. I am returning the unit.

I bought this a few years ago and it still works great. It removes the water and makes my lettuce crisp. My only complaint is that it's hard to clean sometimes and that it's so wide at the top that it's hard to store in the fridge as well as in the cabinet. But besides that, it works great. Love the color too!

I received this gift for my bridal shower. I was really excited to use it because I like to make a lot of salads. I didn't take the spinner out of the box, because I had to move in a couple months anyways. After 4 months sitting in it's box - covered, and not exposed, I pull it out to use at our new place. I was really disappointed to see that the lid was discolored right next to the handle. It went from being brand new when it was given to me, to turning yellow/brown on the white lid.
I thankfully kept the receipt, and will be returning it just because if it ages and discolors without me even using it, what will happen when I use it regularly?

My fiance wanted this when we were registering for our bridal shower. I never used one before but he swore by them. And now I understand why he wanted one so much... I love it! I can' t think of a simgle complaint I have about it.. I've even used just the bowl part as a chip bowl.

I purshased this salad spinner and it is useless. It does not remove the water from the greens at all. Even after several spins. The salad comes out WET and soogy, This product should be taken off the market because it is s waste of ones hard earn money.

Never bothered with a salad spinner before, but for the first time ever I've managed to grow some acceptable lettuce and of course it must be cleaned before consumption. I can put a large amount of lettuce leaves into the basket, the basket is easily removable and works as a colander to give the greens a good rinse. The ratchet mechanism can really get up to speed with minimal effort. I will take the basket out and give the greens a good shake to re-arrange them a time or two and repeat the "spin cycle" as it were. Doing this has resulted in almost bone-dry salad greens. Perfect for my use.

This product is such a waste of money. It doesn't do anything. It doesn't have a place to pour water in, so you have to wash your greens yourself and the draining is so poor. It doesn't spin well enough to pull the water off. You still have to use papertowels to dry your greens. I wish I hadn't thrown the box away along with the receipt. This is the first purchase from Bed, Bath, & Beyond I've absolutely hated. It's not worth a buck!
