Excellent for my uses

There have been some complaints recently that new KitchenAid mixers don't match the ruggedness and reliablility of those of the past, so it was with some trepidation that I purchased a KL26M8XOB 6-quart bowl-lift "ProLine" model last month.

I needn't have worried. It may not be able to make 14-cup batches of heavy bread dough every day (I haven't tried), but for the routine mixing, kneading,whisking, and beating tasks to which I put it it's doing just fine.

The spiral dough hook works better than the C-shaped hook on my previous KA mixer (which I sold a decade ago when I cut back on my cooking), and I like that all the old accessories -- going back to the pasta roller and grain mill I inherited from my grandmother -- still work in the new ones.

One quibble is that this one seems to be louder than my last one, but that could be faulty memory. It definitely IS louder than the Cuisinart mixer I tested before buying the KitchenAid, but it wasn't a deal breaker and in the end the classic styling of the KA won out.

I recently completed the Top Chef University program, and I'm getting back into cooking and baking in a serious way. This new KitchenAid mixer -- along with a new KA food processor and an immersion blender -- are going to be a boon, and I would have no hesitation to recommend one to others.

Awful Mixer

I have a home-based brownie business. We wholesale to coffee houses, restaurants and are part of 3 year-round farmers markets. I ordered this mixer to be my workhorse. What a mistake! It was so incredibly loud that I couldn't hear my doorbell, ringing telephone or even my husband when he was standing next to me. Instead of containing my batter, the cover actually propelled my batter through its opening all over my kitchen cabinets. The worst feature if this product is that in order to release the beater you have to push it up and then down into the bowl completely covering the beater in batter. After 3 months of misery I returned it and bought two wonderful 7 Quart Cuisinart Mixers. Don't buy this product!

Great mixer

I bought this as a replacement to my still working after many years 5-quart KitchenAid mixer, because I wanted the larger capacity bowl. I bake many large batches of cookies at Christmas, and this mixer handles them perfectly. Everything gets completely incorporated in the batter without any problem. It is very easy to clean as well.

"OUTSTANDING: machine. I purchased this mixer for my other half and she is extremly pleased with it. My mother had one when I was a kid and it worked great. The one I bought for my girl is the 575 watt 6 quart lever up bowl. It is everything the product description says it is and is very "user friendly". I highly reccomend this machine to anyone that is considering purchasing a KitchenAid mixer. And it is built to mount all the attachments. The attachments will be my next purchases.

I was given my Grandmother's Kitchenaid Mixer when I got my first home. Years later I bought a newer version Kitchenaid Mixer; liked the newer colors and bought one with a fashionable color at the time. Now I have the Biggest Best One they make. 6qt Lift Bowl Mixer; I love it so much I bought all the accessories; I totally went nuts; and bought them all; Can Opener, Food Grinder, Sausage Maker, Pasta Rollers, Ravioli Maker, Juicer, Strainer, Paster Extruder. This machine does it all and does it well. ASk me I have done everything with this mixer and even took Pasta Classes to use the Ravioli Roller.

The Best Stand Mixer in the World!

Generations have grown up knowing the quality of this mixer. However nothing prepares you for the joy a kitchen appliance can bring. My Mother and Grandmother both had a Kitchenaid Mixer; So I knew the quality; and also knew what I wanted in my own mixer and what I needed. Specifically I knew I wanted the lift bowl over the tilt head. I can let my mixer sit on the counter under the cabinet; and use the mixer; the tilt head could not tilt under my cabinets; but the lift bowl sits under my cabinet and can be used with out having to move the mixer all over the counter. Of course the attachments from all the original mixers
fit my new mixer; So Mother and Grandmother all share the attachments. If you ever wanted a stand mixer this is the only one to get. It can do anything a professional baker can do. I am sure Julia would agree with me; there is nothing like a Kitchenaid Mixer.
