This is exactly what I was looking for to be able to steam & cook a full meal all at once... I've used it to prepare meat or fish on the bottom level, vegetables on the 2nd level and rice on the top... everything came out great... I've also used it for just one item like vegetables... the levels are stackable you can use 1, 2, or all 3 at the same time. The instruction don't always match the product but it is a very easy machine to use and set up.

Don't Buy This Steamer

I've had this steamer almost a year and it broke. First, the display starting going out about 6 months after I had it, in which I was getting partial numbers so could not tell how long the thing was going to steam. Next, the display goes completely out and all the buttons are stuck, one day I'm stuck in the on position so its cooking everything forever and the only way to turn it off was to unplug it out of the wall. Then after that incidient, it would only work for 10 to 15 mins and turn off, food is not done...um hungry. Lastly, its now stuck in the "warm" mode, the green light mode and won't turn on or do anything. My average usage was two to three times a week, which I thought was average, obviously not. I'm so disappointed, because when it did work, it did a great job and helped me to eat much healthier. Now, all I want is a cheeseburger. ;-(

I was excited to receive this as a wedding gift because my sister and her husband had one and loved steaming their meals! I was so disappointed! The directions were not clear. I was not sure what steps to take to start steaming. The on/ off button was stuck and not working either. After 10 min of trying to figure out how to steam rice, I ended up cooking it on the stove like I normally do! I am sad to say I am returning this product.

I only used it for a few month before it broke, the timer is no longer visible. seems like the display is broke. It turns on for a few second and turns off again. I got it as gift registry, but what a big mistake. DO NOT waste your money !!

I wish I had read the reviews before I bought this. It is so hard to use. The only steam I got from this is the steam from my ears that I wasted money. The timer is impossible. When you follow the directions it is a hit or miss if it will work. I have only had it for a couple of months, but have only really used it twice. I am going to try and take back. If I can't return, I hope others will read the reviews before they buy. DON'T BUY THIS ONE!!!!

Useless, Broken, Cheap Piece of JUNK! Stay Away!

I purchased this steamer at BBandB yesterday to replace one that i've used for years. It is currently the only similar type of steamer that they are carrying at BBandB. they used to sell oster. loved then. then taylor. loved it. now deni. Piece of DOODEE!
i opened the box and when i took out the base (where you put water) there was ALREADY crud around the entire thing as if it'd been used. NONE of the writing was visible on the buttons. it was all worn off and some of the buttons were even pressed INTO the machine. i took the base to the sink to see if it could be washed and reazlied there was residue on the entire bottom of the appliance as well.
i don't know if i was sold a refurbished machine or if someone at bed, bath and beyond opened this up one night and made dinner and then replaced it, but either way, i'm completely turned off. i lugged it home on the subway. now i have no steamer and i have to lugh this thing back and give it back to them. i want my money back and i'll go elsewhere. thank you deni for making junk and thank you bed, bath and beyond for wasting my time and selling it to me. (that was sarcastic.)

I use ours all the time, timer works fine, we use it for fish, veggies, rice and potatoes. Saves on pots easy clean-up. Looking at other reports, sounds like we were lucky... The buttons have never stuck.

I should have read the reviews on this before I registered for it for my wedding. The manual and the electronics on this device are terrible. The first time I went to use it I washed everything as it states, placed my food in the baskets and then the device wouldn't work.

My steamer of 7 yrs just died. My husband tried to buy me a new one as a gift, however the store didn't have any and the employee recommended this one and helped him with the order. It is horrible! Nothing in the instruction manual is accurate from setting the clock, to turning it on. I only get it to work by randomly repetitively pushing buttons and never the same thing works twice. Using it once I could tell it was junk - the buttons constantly got stuck and you can just feel they're junk. For $40 I thought I'd at least get a few years out of it and for an employee to recommend this, they obviously had no clue.

i've only used this twice (those two times it worked fine), because after that the power button wouldn't work/kept getting stuck, and after 15 minutes i gave up and threw my asparagus into the microwave, which really annoyed me. i didn't expect some amazing thing, since it's not an expensive steamer, but i also didn't expect to want to throw it across the room at the third use.

by the way, this appliance was never mistreated -- it sat on its own side of a cabinet and was handled gently -- so i can't even attribute the problem to rough handling.

The manual is pretty worthless, right in the recycle bin it goes. The steamer does start to cook very fast and the stack trays are a good idea. Bad part is the programming per the manual does not match what happened with my steamer. Unable to set the clock or even the time to cook. Even if cooking without using the clock or timer (which is supposed to be default when plugging in and hit the start button). Mine worked once, and then would only stay on for about 2 minutes. Unplugged it and tried several more time, each time the unit would only stay on for seconds and then finally nothing. So it worked one time, the first time, now it's toast.

I love this appliance! I should have purchased one years ago! My husband and I are trying to eat healthier and this appliance is perfect for that. The vegetables taste amazing and are perfectly cooked. Hard boiled eggs are a snap and rice is perfect! I bought one for my vegetarian son and daughter-in-law and they love it. What I really like the most is that it is so easy to use. Set it and forget it.

I used this for the first time today, had problems with the power button. It would stick and it took about 5 or 6 tries to get it actually turned on because of it sticking.
Secondly, the bottom basket don't sit on properly due to the black turbo ring.
It was lopsided while I was cooking.....I filled it up to the maxium to cook my veggies. When they were done, there was still plenty of water left in the bottom, but the potatoes I had in the bottom basket were burnt on the bottom...just the ones in the middle where the black turbo ring is located...Don't know why, lots of water still there...And it was just in that spot..
Its going back, not worth the money...Don't think its a very good quality steamer. I had one for 10 years before it gave out on me, this one don't even compare to it.

We received this as a Christmas Gift 2010. Used about 3x monthly during season. Instructions and actual operation of the unit seemed to work on it's own with never the same results. The manual was NO help. Worked on veges Ok rest bad results. Jan 2011 it brokedown. 2 days out of warranty.

I love the Deni Stanless Steel Steamer. The fish and vegetables were moist, tender and tasty. The only problem was not enough instructions and suggestions. We figured out how to use it by trying different cooking times until we got it right. Everything we have made has been delicious! I highly recommend!
