I like the whole concept of this container, but it just doesn't work as planned! First of all, it's hard to open without throwing the butter out onto the floor or counter. Second, when it does slip out of our hopelessly small fridge and hits the ground, I would say 9 times out of 10 it pops open and we lose the butter anyway. I feel like that's the only purpose behind this container...NOT losing the butter when the butter falls. So this container fails at its job 90% of the time.

I like to keep a sick of salted butter at room temperature. Those who have trouble with the lid coming off just need to turn the base over and it snaps tight.

I bought this dish because it was the only plastic one in the store. I didn't want something breakable because of the children. It is terrible because the lid does not stay on well (calling it a snap and lock is a joke), and because the butter is on a raised platform instead of a lowered surface like a real dish. This means the butter slides around, and if it melts there is nothing to keep it contained within the dish and it will run out the sides. On the plus side, the measurements on the sides are nice, if you can read the white raised printing on the white plastic. But I agree that it is not worth the trip to return it..

I found that there are measurements on the dish. If you put the butter on the measurement side of the dish it will lock and it holds.

bought this because i thought it would last longer than a glass one. thought plastic would be safer. however, you can't pick it up from the lid because the lid comes off. would not recommend and would return if it was worth the trip.
