Good Machine, Great Value

I just replaced this same Oster bread machine after 10 years of regular use. This machine bakes bread consistently well and I have never had issues with stickage. The recipe book that is included has wonderful recipes that are must try! We love this so much, we bought one for our daughter and son in-law. They LOVE it too!

My first bread maker

I wanted to try a bread maker but did not want to spend a lot of money. I was hesitant to buy this brand, based on the bad reviews, but it was the less expensive of the two brands offered at the store. I brought it home and started making bread using the recipes provided with the machine. The instructions are very easy to follow and each loaf I have made has turned out GREAT! I have not had problems with the bread rising (though I have been adding Vital Gluten as some bread bakers have recommended for use with bread machines), each loaf has a perfect crust and consistency. No problems with the bread mixing in all of the flour, but I did find when I added currants they did not mix in as well as I would have hoped (still delicious though!). I am completely happy with this bread maker and am enjoying a slice of delicious, warm cinnamon currant bread as I write this review!

I already raved about this, but after reading a negative review, decided to add something. I found the bread didn't rise very much the first two times I used it, but remembered something from my first bread maker. If you put the sugar in with the yeast, it helps the yeast to activate, for some reason. I did that and boom, the bread almost reaches the top and has ever since.

This is a great bread maker for dough or for baking the loaf. It is easy to use, doesn't take up a lot of space and bakes delicious bread!!! I have had it for about 6 months and have used it many times. I looked a t lot of them and many cost a lot more, but aren't recommended any better. I decided to give this one a try and love it!! Buying 2 for gifts.

Great Deal

I've had this bread maker for 3 years and it's fantastic especially for the price. I make homemade bread as well. You can never expect a bread maker to make bread exactly how you would when you make it homemade. It's a fair trade off for the ease of pouring all ingredients in and having fresh bread in as quickly as an hour. I've tried making the yeast well and allowing the yeast to make contact with liquids. It works both ways. The comments about not having their bread rise makes me think their yeast was bad. Always check expiration dates. I highly recommend this bread maker!

I am 64 years old. I have been making bread since I was 15 - well before bread machines were ever invented. I bought this breadmaker when my WIlliams-Sonoma one (15 years old) just up and died. This was the only one the store had in stock. I figured it is a brand name - so give it a try. I made several loaves of bread - just basic white bread recipes - nothing fancy. The bread did not rise. So, I bought fresh yeast and flour. Again, the bread did not rise - like it should. The texture was very dense. Just a poor loaf of bread. I knew it was not me - nor the recipes. I think Oster just has made a bad product. And, I am sorry that Bed Bath Beyond didn't carry any other product lines in the store. That being said, I returned it, no problem with the return and ordered (through them at the store) the Cuisinart. Much better!
If you are looking for a bread machine - don't buy this one...the price may be right, but the aggravation is just not worth it. Spend a few extra dollars and get a better bread maker.

Bad experiences with this machine

I have owned and used bread machines for years, without problems--including an inexpensive Oster. I returned this machine, having wasted time and ingredients. I tried 3 loaves. Two failed because the ingredients did not mix, even though I heard the bread pan snap into place. In between these two failures, on my second try, the machine mixed the ingredients OK but it triggered the circuit breaker in the outlet, so it turn itself off before baking. I'm now off in search of another brand.

Not for picky bread lovers

While visiting my daughter out-of-state, I used their Oster with the recipe they had worked out for their climate and elevation, and consistently made reasonably good white bread with it. .Admittedly, I did notice that the crust was tainted with a tinny taste that comes from baking in cheap metals. I still thought it was cool to be able to have fresh bread upon wakiing up, so I bought one for myself, You will probably waste ingredients working out the recipe for your climate. I eventually got white bread to come out okay, My daughter's recipe did not work in our climate. But most disappointing, I could not use this machine to make my whole grain breads. They come out dry, nothing like what I can make without the machine. Nutrition is important to me, and I wanted to be able to make bread from the grain I grind fresh myself. I ended up giving it away and getting a Zojirushi Virtuoso. It was considerably more expensive, but what a huge difference. Unless you are not picky, I would recommend saving for a better machine.

Unimpressed

It wasn't my first choice, but it was the only one in stock, so I bought it anyway in spite of the less than stellar reviews.
The pan's shape left flour in the lower corners. The rise time was too long. The resulting loaf deflated before baking, resulting in a dense brick-like loaf.
Fortunately, the store's customer service is fantastic, there was no problem returning it.

Only used it for about a year, went back to the store and bought this model again! Loving it again and I make bread almost every day! Hope for another 6-7 years with this one ;) Did I mention whoever tasted my bread loved it too and said it's the best they ever had?!

Just what I wanted

This may not be the fanciest, but it makes bread and dough and it does it well, and that is what I wanted. It has a delay start in case I want to wake up to bread. It is easy to clean. It is easy to operate. If you want more than that, I don't know what it would be. I am very happy with it!

I have read the reviews before purchasing this product and I do not believe them. I have had one before and bought a new one because I liked the product and what came out of it. Some of the reviews, I believe, are over exaggerated.

i love this bread machine! It makes great bread every time. I agree with another reviewer that you have to follow the receipe esp. concerning the right type of yeast, this could be the deal breaker for a good or bad loaf. I use bread flour and yeast made for the bread machine only. My bread is yummy as my kids say!

I used mine ALL the time, mostly for dinner rolls that I would then cook in the oven. I did sometimes bake a loaf of bread, but mostly just used the dough cycle. It was used almost weekly, and ran for 12.5 years before I just wore it out. I loved it and will most likely go get another of the same because it's simple, user-friendly, and gave me no reason not to.
