I don't know how long a small appliance like this is supposed to last, but mine lasted just over a year and it died on me today. :( Of course now I HAVE to go buy another one because it died in the middle of my dehydrating! I run a rabbit rescue and small animal rescue and use the dehydrator to dry out treats and fruits to sell to do fundraising and I am very upset that I have to take money out of the Rescue's budget to buy another one.

I bought this dehydrator to make treats for my dogs. From the very start it was easy to use and very fast. I make sweet potato treats in about 6 hours. The dogs love them. I have made apple, sweet potato and chicken treats without any difficulty or problems. I need to buy the expansion trays now so i can make more stuff in one sitting. I feel that if I continue to make the amount of stuff i want, I will buying a second one as well. I'm impressed with the easy of use and clean up and the speed at which stuff drys.

Neither of us has ever owned a dehydrator before this one. It comes with a how to and recipe book and it's as easy as chopping items to fit and turning on the dehydrator. So far this is our favorite and most used gift we received as a wedding gift.

This is the second dehydrator we have bought over the years. The last one did not have a fan, so one has to rotate the trays and the food does take quite a bit longer to dry out. This one is great as the fan helps to dry the food quickly and there is no need to touch the trays during drying. This machine has been working overtime this summer dehydrating strawberries, apples, bananas, figs, pineapple, peaches, nectarines - in fact pretty much any fruits in season. My teenagers love the fruit and very often the trays are empty before the drying is even complete! The only downside although I still gave it 5 stars (but thought I'd mention it) is as a previous reviewer said - it does give off quite a bit of heat and of course one can hear the fan running - which doesn't happen in my "fan-less" one. Overall a great machine which I'd highly recommend.
* By the way, most fruit dries within a day.

I've used this deyhdrator only once so far. Dried apples, bananas, strawberries & blueberries; they're delicious.
I never had a dehydrator before, so I have nothing to compare it to, but so far I like it very much, and would recommend it to anyone who wants to try drying foods. This dehydrator is a relatively inexpensive way to find out if it's something you want to do.

Having recently been forced to go on a grain free diet, I needed a machine that could help me make alternatives to goodies like crackers, granola, etc. The Nesco dehydrator has become an invaluable tool in my kitchen. I love the labeled temperature dial and the wide range of temperatures available for different types of foods. The machine is powerful and cleans effortlessly. The only thing I don't like is there is no on/off switch, so to check your items, you have to unplug the machine. It also blows some pretty powerful hot air on the higher temp settings, which will be nice this winter, but in the summer can heat up the kitchen pretty quickly. Overall, though, the product is excellent and the price can't be beat for the quality in return.

I bought this at Christime , I had heard about the treats made in china so I wanted to give my dogs something better well they love them and in the cookbook they have treats you can make for birds and cats. my bird goes crazy over them. Your pet is worth it.

i purchased this to make chicken jerky and such for my chihuahua :D he has currently gotten sick from eating the treats made in china. after i learned my lesson of him getting liver issues, this machine is a lifesaver. it takes 8 hours to dehydrate and make the chicken but he is well worth it :)

I bought this for my dad for Christmas this year and he loved it! He was making jerky by Christmas evening. My dad had bought a lesser quality dehydrator before and ended up returning it. Overall, this is good quality, easy to use, and works really well! Lastly, it's pretty much necessary to buy the jerky gun as well.

Awesome Dehydrator

I purchased this dehydrator for my husband about 2 weeks ago to make beef jerky. So far we have made 5 batches of beef jerky and 1 batch of deer jerky. It cooks it so fast!!! It has come out wonderful every time. I really recommend this product. Very reasonable and works great!

One of my favorite kitchen tools!!! This thing is on almost constantly. I run at a low temp to keep from killing any of the important nutrients and enzymes. Got it for my birthday last year and no problems in 15mos. Just here to look at buying 8 more trays (it has a max capacity of 12 and comes with 4:)
