I failed to see the word "compact" in the description, hoewever, it fits my needs perfectly.
We have A LOT of laundry and I don't put most of my clothing into the dryer.
I purchased a similar 1 from another less expensive source over the summer and it fell apart already. This line dryer is durable and great for our needs.

Wow... When I recived the package I couldn't believe how small the rack was.. In the picture it looks a lot bigger. If u only plain on drying underwear and socks, then get it. That is the only thing it will be good for. Which makes it useless to me... I need something a lot bigger that can dry my jeans,T shrits, socks and underwear, all on one drying rack..

I've had this rack for 10 years and LOVE it! Before this rack I had wooden drying racks and replaced them ALL the time. In 10 years it has not rusted (not sure why it would) and it collapses for easy storage. I'm buying a 2nd one because I do everyone's laundry in one day and even though one holds a lot of clothes, I need more space.

I love these drying racks. However, I have had problems with them rusting and getting rust on my sweaters. When it happened with the first set I thought maybe it was just a fluke - but it's happened with the second set I bought.

Wood racks warp, white metal racks have less width and towels bunch up, and other chrome racks have narrower rods which leave marks on clothes. This rack hangs two hand-size towels or dish towels side-by-side, or a large bath towel with no bunching up. Set over a register indoors at night - you won't need a humidifier and you clothes will be dry by morning.

This is a great buy for you money. I had wooden drying racks but after only 2 years they warped and ended up breaking so I bought this drying rack. Very sturdy. The only thing that I wish was different was that the bars were wider. But still a great buy.
