Dead in Seven Months

Loved the machine for the first six months. By seven months it was dead. I cleaned it religiously. I followed all instructions and recommendations. Once or twice about six months in it behaved oddly. I thought perhaps it was simply that a capsule was defective or that I hadn't loaded it quite properly. Then one morning a couple weeks later it just wouldn't start. Nothing. No sounds. The capsule wouldn't load. It was just plain dead.
Unfortunately I can't find the receipt. I always staple receipts to the manual, but I forgot so no recourse for getting a repair, a refund, or a replacement. I now have an extremely expensive door stop.
Other negatives for the CBTL are cost of the capsules and lack of variety.
There were many positives, but nothing is positive enough to makeup for $150 down the drain in less than seven months.

Great coffee, great deal

Needed to find a new machine after my k-machine broke and was pretty sure I wanted something new. Wanted quality coffee (I was a barista at one point in my life) and low costs. Everywhere I went this machine got rave reviews! BBB had a fabulous deal with a $50 rebate AND 5 free boxes of coffee/tea/flavors. That's a deal NO ONE should pass up! Plan to get 20% off coffee/tea/flavor packets through the BBB coupons and buying discounted gift cards at Costco, then purchasing at CBTL stores or online (think you get additional savings there, too). Cost per pod will be less than what I was paying for the k-machine! Overall, this is an excellent machine and produces quality coffee and espresso (something my k-machine could not do!). Like every electronic device, there are a few quirks to consider...The handle seems to be flimsier than expected, but I've been gentle and I think it will be fine. Collection cup needs to be emptied as it collects water if you forget to every empty it like I did. Oops! Water tank could be larger, but hasn't been a hassle for someone like me who drinks 1-2 cups per day. The tank is behind the machine, but again, hasn't been an issue for me. The machine is louder than the k-machine, but that's because it's pressurized. Roommate's bedroom is above the kitchen and he said he doesn't hear it, so it isn't that big of a deal. I would recommend this machine over the other machines without a doubt. Enjoy!

Replaced our Keurig

I started drinking espresso recently and looked for an espresso machine to go along our Keurig that my wife uses. Ended up getting this one and now the keurig is collecting dust. Coffee is great and seems that everyone else thinks so too as I have been to both the local Target and BB&B for espresso cups and there was only one box left.

After long research and reading many reviews I decided to purchase the CBTL Americano model! YIKES this coffee maker makes the Keurig look like water (all models)! The Coffee was excellent. YES cappuccino and Espresso too were spectacularly excellent and Keurig cannot do either! I purchased the CBTL frothier for the cappuccino! The costs are also 30-40% LESS than the K. Without doubt and trying their excellent Italian Espresso and decaf I am convinced this single serve is the best for the $$$ on the present market! IF you go to BBB and use your 20% coupon for even bigger savings! Great Product and very easy to use. 1 & 2X Espresso shot settings; 8,10 & 12 Oz Coffee settings plus 6.5oz. Hot Co-Co.
Amazing for the price! 1.5 millibar pump for espresso. (Keurig none!) A Great buy! Purrrrfect Coffee and Espresso!

Outstanding discovery!

As a cappuccino lover, and a crafter of my own beverages, I appreciate a fine cup of brew. I grind my own beans in a vintage German hand grinder and make my own cappuccino in my pump-driven cappuccino machine. Recently I have had to switch to decaffeinated beverages, to my dismay, and it is hard to find really good whole bean decaf dark roast or espresso beans locally. The other problem is that the cafeteria at the middle school where I teach makes pretty tasty regular coffee, but no decaf. So, with 20% coupon in hand, I originally went to BB&B searching for a drip pot for decaf at school. I figured I'd solve the home cappuccino problem later. I happened to walk by the CBTL display and watched a video. At that time, a sales associate approached me, and her knowledge about the system was so extensive that she was able to address all of my questions and concerns. AND, there was still a $50 rebate and 5 free boxes of beverages (Another $50 value). I was very interested in it because one of the teachers on my teaching team is only a tea drinker, but I was concerned about the taste of coffee getting into the tea. Since BB&B has a great return policy, and I would be able to take it back if I didn't like it, I decided to take a risk. So here are my thoughts:
1. Impressive! It has a 15 bar pressure pump, like my expensive cappuccino machine! It took no time at all to prime the pump and brew my first cup of decaf espresso. It was beautiful, with a nice crema on the top and a rich aroma and flavor. For my second trial, wanting a cappuccino, I heated the milk in my mug in the microwave, added a little sugar free vanilla syrup, and then brewed the espresso right into it. It was terrific! I didn't miss the foam top, and I really wouldn't buy a separate milk frother. I had a very satisfying decaf cappuccino.
2. Second trial! I then brewed a cup of decaf House Blend coffee. Again, another very satisfying cup of coffee. For my taste, the best setting is 10 oz. for black, but I am going to try 8 oz. for adding cream.
3. True Test! The thing I really wanted to find out was if tea brewed after coffee had a coffee flavor. I read the recommendations in the manual for running 12 oz of just water through the brew cycle before changing flavors or beverages. That seemed to be a lot of water, so I just ran a short espresso amount, and then ran 10 oz. cup of English Breakfast tea. Perfect!
4. Some reviewers have voiced concerns about the noise of the pump...it's actually a bit quieter than the pump on my expensive cappuccino machine. A pump driven machine like this is the way to go for great coffee.
5. For me, the resulting beverage is plenty hot. If I wanted to brew right into my travel thermos mug, it would stay hot for a long time at school, but I won't have to do that because...
6. I went back to BB&B with another 20% off coupon and bought a second one for school because the first one is staying at my house! Some of the free coffee boxes I got for school are regular, for my teaching teammates who don't have to have decaf, and English Breakfast tea, for my one team member who drinks only tea.
I still plan to handcraft cappuccino with my other machine once I find the decaf beans I want, and when I have the time. However, I love having this little treasure to provide a cappuccino when I am in a hurry in the morning. I think this machine is definitely worth a try. It may take a little trial and error to find the perfect brew for individual tastes, but it has great options! I might go back and buy another one for a Christmas gift.

With the 20% off coupon, 5 free boxes of pods in-store, and $50 rebate this is an AMAZING DEAL! I couldn't wait to try it. Easy to prep, easy to use, and DELICIOUS Coffeee beyond any Keurig K cups have to offer!!! I am serious, the coffee and espresso are top notch. I couldn't be happier. I have been using Keurig for several years and this is far superior!!!

The Best Single Serve Machine

The title says it all! I have tasted coffee from almost all the single serve machines sold by BB&B and this one is, without any doubt, the best out there. I don't know why this brand is not as well known in the south and the east as some of the others, but it certainly deserves to be. You won't be disappointed with the quality of the machine, or with the quality of the coffee pods. For a larger selection of pods, visit the CBTL website. Awesome coffee from a single serve machine! Who would have thought?!

Extremely Disappointed in Brewer

I purchased this CBTL brewer 4 months ago to replace my 4th Keurig that died. Although the coffee and tea selections are MUCH MORE limited, I was content if the brewer would last. Fast forward to now and I will be returning the brewer. From the day we got the brewer, the top lever was tight and a bit difficult to open/close. That didn't really improve with use. The biggest problem is that the pods have a hard time dropping into the catch pan after use causing you to have to toggle the top lever. Then in an ironic twist, when you try to load a fresh pod, it keeps going straight through and you have to put your hand up from underneath to support it while engaging the lever to catch it in place. In the end, this is not something I wanted to deal with before my first cup of coffee of the day! The other thing we didn't like was that the removable support for the coffee mugs doesn't seem very sturdy. We have heavy ceramic mugs and they cause the platform to tip forward and the coffee bearly makes it into the cup without spilling. Overall, for the price, poor selection of coffee and issues we decided to go back to the Keurig systems. As a side note, the small selection of coffee they do offer is quite tasty. Too bad it's not available in the k-cup format!

Best Single Cup Machine 4 Espresso Lovers

I have used ALL the hot single serve machines on the market via my mother, businesses, demonstrations, friends' houses, etc.... However, this is by far my favorite machine because of several main reasons:
1. VERSATILE: It can make tea, coffee and espresso
2. It makes the BEST tasting espresso of all machines
I warm a little milk up in the microwave and then put it under the dispenser and run a single serve shot of espresso and it is just like being at the coffee shop.
3. It comes out HOT instead of luke warm like others
4. The cup holder can be moved up and down as well as removed for a large tumbler
5. Super easy to clean and refill
I will say it is a bit tricky at first but once you get it down you will be set. Also, Target now sells the pods for it, too!

I'm very happy with this machine. The unflavored coffees and the espressos are great, but the flavored ones, French Vanilla, Butterscotch Toffee, and Hazelnut have almost no flavor and no aroma while brewing. This was a disappointment. I will not buy any more of the flavored pods. The vanilla and dutch chocolate powders make great lattes.

I went through 3 Kuerigs and 1 Tassimo in 3 years so I started researching other single brew options. After reading the reviews here and seeing the awesome mail-in rebate deal with FIVE boxes of free coffee, I settled on this machine. I purchased it about a month ago.
I LOVE the coffee it brews. It's by far the best home brewed cup of coffee I've ever had. That five free box promotion was great to test many of the flavors out.
I also got the milk frother because I love lattes. It truly does make a coffee house latte!
My only complaint is that it seems to be made a bit cheaply and it does not have a warning light when the water level is too low to brew. The handle that you pull back and push to brew the coffee feels like its going to break. Not a huge deal on either aspect but worth mentioning.
All in all, I love this machine and have recommended it to several people!

We've blown through FOUR Keurig's and one Tassimo. The CBTL makes stronger coffee than the Keurig and has a larger selection of decaf coffees. In addition to great coffee, I like that is has a small footprint on our countertop. Highly recommend CBTL.

My husband and I were sick of dealing with our regular coffeemaker, all the cleaning of parts every evening before bed. I started researching single serve machines and really couldn't find that many reviews on this brand. I spent a year making this decision! Kept reading mixed reviews about the other brands. I decided to take a chance on CBTL and I'm so happy I did! My husband even agrees that it's a huge convenience to be able to make a fresh cup of coffee in just a few minutes (he was shocked at the speed!).
We don't like strong coffee, so we use Vienna or Kona and make 12 ounces of coffee from one pod. It's super easy and delicious coffee.
The true test came recently when a friend from Colombia was visiting. He likes the espresso from Starbucks and I'm sure he had low expectations when I offered to make him one with the CBTL (our machine came with a sample box of several coffee flavors). He was so surprised at how good it was! He said he had never had a cup of espresso from one of the single serves that he thought was good, until he had this one!

I purchased this machine today. I could not resist the unbelievable offer at my local BB&B, price is $149 as listed on the website, there is a $50 mail-in rebate (good until 21-31-2012), plus I received 5 (five) free boxes coffee of my choice right in the store, that is a value of approx. $50.
Setting the machine up was very easy, you have to prime the pump, which took 2 or 3 minutes, then you are ready to enjoy your first cup of coffee or espresso.
I had 2 cups so far and I am pleased with the result.

This if my first impression because I purchased this machine today. After reading numerous reviews of the other K brand single serve, I stumbled on this machine. Overall the reviews were more positive than the better known "K" brand. I also liked the fact that it makes espresso and has several different size cup settings. I made an espresso mocha using the samples that come with the unit. Instructions from priming the machine were easy and brewing the espresso was simple. It wasn't clear that the machine ejects the pods into a drawer, so if you purchase this, please be aware that you don't remove the pod from the top where it is placed to brew coffee. So far, so good!

I LOVE this machine! The espresso flavors are GREAT, its easy to use, and there are only a half dozen or so coffee flavors as of yet but that's perfectly enough. The price is right - true espresso-only machines are really expensive, and this espresso is great and you get coffee too.

My wife has been without Tassimo decaf espresso for several weeks now. I surprised her with a double shot decaf expresso this evening and she was delighted with the flavor and crema. I bought this machine to replace the Tassimo and I'm glad I did. Thanks CBTL. We can make excellent expresso and I can have my morning coffee, as well.
