I tried two of these. With the first one, the second time I used it, the heating element popped, and no longer worked. I returned it to Bed Bath and Beyond. I tried the second one, and it sounded strange when I plugged it in. It never reached a higher temperature. I had to finish the cooking process in the oven. This one is going back today.

Great size but some quirks

I love the size and how easy it is to clean the frypan. My main complaint is that when the frypan reaches its set temperature, for example 350 degrees, it basically shuts off and doesn't seem to maintain the heat. I noticed this when frying eggs. When the temperature light went out, the eggs didn't seem to continue cooking until I increased the temperature setting.

My old electric skillet was not heating evenly so I began my hunt for a new one. I am happy that I found the Cuisinart because I love the large capacity and it heats evenly. The see-through lid is nice because I can see what's happening inside without removing the lid and letting the heat escape.

We have several kitchen items from cuisinart and at first was not sure if I wanted to spend this amount for an electric skillet. I am glad I did. The shipping was super fast. Had this skillet for 2 years, used it 4-6 times a year. Just this month the temp control has stopped working, The skillet will not stop at the set temperature, and constantly overheats.

Large cooking surface, but short lived

I purchased this item Christmas 2008. We used it roughly twice a month until March 2011. One of the electrodes "fried" in the base unit (appeared loose) and stopped functioning. I heard it arc several times and retired it. I attempted twice to contact Cuisinart. When they responded finally, they said it "appeared" that the unit was out of warranty: unless I could prove with a proof of purchase. None found :(. Wondering why I see refurbished units for sale elsewhere now!

My Husband gave this to me as a Christmas present. I never asked for it, but I'm really glad he got it! It makes cooking for large groups a breeze. I love how even the heat is and how easily it cleans up. It has a large cooking surface and a tremendous capacity. I cook as many as 50 scrambled eggs in it at one time. I don't know what I would do without it!
