Oxo Oxo Good Grips Chopper

Chop onions, vegetables, herbs and more just like a professional. Just press the soft knob of this chopper and the blades will rotate for even chopping. Shock is absorbed by an internal soft bumper which increases comfort and sound quality. Knob locks down for compact storage. Ingredients can either be chopped in the enclosed, removable cup or directly on a cutting board. Cup is easy to remove with a simple twist. Blade cartridge is easy to remove for cleaning up. Includes a spoon for scooping. Dishwasher safe.

This does not chop anything. I thought that maybe I was putting in pieces of vegetables that were to big, so I cut a small piece and it still would not cut through. The vegetables get stuck in the blades.

This worked great the first time, after that this chopper sucks. Doesnt cut anything, everything gets stuck in the blades. The whole unit feels like its going to fall apart.I have to end up chopping by hand. I do not recommend this product at all. Spend the money and get something thats a better quality product.

This chopper sucks, plain and simple. We have used it about 10 or 12 times and already the blades are completely dulled. We have only used it to cut onions and garlic for the most part. The construction of the whole unit is pretty flimsy, too. I always feel like I'm going to break it when I use it. My folks have a chopper similar to this one, except it has lasted them 6 or 7 years!

I was so excited to use this chopper, and I absolutely love OXO, but was extremely disappointed in this chopper. Everything gets stuck in the blades and I end up having to pull it out and having to cut the onions, peppers, mushrooms, etc. by hand anyway. Not worth the money, AT ALL.

This is the product that has finally convinced me to discontinue buying anything that is OXO brand. It's very hit or miss, and this chopper is a definite miss. None of the features work. I can spend less time chopping by hand, and it will look better. I gave up after trying onions and bell pepper.

This thing chops everything up. I no longer have to cry when I chop onions anymore but I did find using it directly on my wood chopping block helped especially after during cleanup. I've cut nuts, onions, celery, carrots and pretty much everything in this little thing. I love it!

Happy Chop

Fortunately, unlike some of the reviews below, I love my chopper! I don't think it is really designed to chop herbs or tomatoes or anything that can easily be bruised. If you are cutting onions, garlic, potatoes (raw), celery, carrots, etc., this is the prefect chopper for you. In my family, we like to call it the 'Happy Chop'. It makes food prep so much easier and less time consuming. I can't cut an onion for the life of me without crying and having to leave the other room. This helps speed up the process so I am able to chop several onions before the tears start. I would recommend this for someone who cooks often and doesn't have a live in sous chef :) If you are looking to cut herbs, Oxo makes an herb chopper. As far as tomatoes go, the best way is to chop them by hand. They bruise to easily and you will end up with salsa by the time you are done. I am on my second chopper. I used the one I had for about 3 years before the springs finally stopped working. The chopper comes apart into 3 parts. You can stick it in your dish washer for easy cleaning. High Recommend!

My husband bought me this product for Christmas and I was so excited to try it! I have never been so disgusted, not only is it awful to clean but it does not work on ANYTHING!! I've tried onions, mushrooms, garlic etc. nothing works. The food always gets caught in the blade and I end up chopping by hand or using my food processor.
Plese do not waste your money on this item!!

I'm a fan of this chopper due to it's easy storage space, and it does a good job of chopping up vegetables, and the great thing is that my husband can cut onions without crying now. I am confused about what the small plastic white attachment is for, but I should probably look that up. It may be useful.

Works on *Certain* Things

Got this from our wedding registry, and overall I'd say it's worthwhile, provided you know what you can use it on. It works best harder vegetables--carrots, celery, onions, etc. I personally use it for onions all the time because it's the only way I can cut them without crying. I've also used it on strawberries. But, basically, if it's something really squishy, it won't work--I ended up with tomato mush when I tried it on tomatoes. Also, despite its claim to work on herbs, I've found that it's just not sharp enough; I usually ended up with whole herbs that had creases where the blade hit it but just couldn't go all the way through (and believe me, I was hitting the thing HARD). You also have to use just the right amount--too much, and the handle doesn't push down. So it works great if you stay within certain parameters, but not for you if you want a one-stop chopper.

A piece of garbage.

This is the worst kitchen gadget I have ever bought. I thought it would be much better, since #1 Oxo makes decent products and #2 the other reviews here are favorable. However, it was completely useless all three times I tried to use it. I tried chopping almonds, then herbs, then tomatoes. It failed in all instances. And, the piece that fits up over the blade and is supposed to turn as you chop to continually scrape the sides of the cup fell off everytime I removed the cup from the upper portion of the unit. I will be returning this as soon as possible, it's horrible. Better luck next time, Oxo.

I thought I would be most excited about our "big" registry gifts, however this chopper was a pleasant surprise! I find myself using this with almost every meal I cook. It's easy to use and so convenient. It is also so simple to throw all of the pieces (which all come apart easily) into the dishwasher. I'm so glad we registered for this, I'm definitely getting plenty of use out of it!
