Seeing the negative reviews, I had to attempt to counter them. I have purchased a total of 5 of these Dispensers. Two of them were for me, and one was for each of my siblings. They work wonderfully well! If it starts to become slow, it is simply time for new batteries.
I did have one reject and Simple Human sent me a new replacement unit with no questions asked. I have owned these Dispensers since Simple Human first came out with this newer "see-through" design. They are great.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife in 2011. It works for a few months and then stopped dispensing soap despite cleaning and consultation with the help line at SmartHuman. Sent it back and got a replacement. The new one quit within a month.
After staring at it for 2 months, I decided I'd write a review to warn people away. I'm had a Lysol cheapie for over a year in another bathroom and it works like the day I bought it. And if it doesn't, I'm not out $45 dollars.

I loved this item when we purchased it in Dec. 2012 but twice now it has leaked all over the counter. Now it leaks again and somehow the soap is in the compartment with the batteries so it doesn't work at all.. but for $45.00 and less than 6 months of use I'm very disappointed.

I've purchased two of these dispenser and love both of them. I've a white one in the kitchen and a chrome one in one of our bathrooms. My son-in-law has another brand in their bathroom and he likes mine a lot better. I gave one to my daughter-in-law on her birthday and she loves her's also. They both have asked for another one on their christmas list this year and mine also.

Bought this to replace a one from the drug store. Although it looked nice it didn't work correctly. Constantly was discharging soap when no one was around. Contacted the company and was told they knew about the problem - it happened around fluorescent lights. Finally gave up and tossed it and bought another lysol one from the Target - it works great and much cheaper.

I was very surprised to see such negative comments re: the above iterm. I purchased this a few months ago and use it daily with my choice of liquid soap. So far it has worked perfectly. Would hig;hly recomment. I plan on purchasing another for the bath downstairs.

Had two of the SimpleHuman Soap Dispenser after a few months they quit working! Purchased a glass soap manual dispenser and that works fine, and at a much lower cost!

I have had 2 of them. the 1st one i got fed up with and threw it in the garbage. Taking a chance i bought another one because I liked the idea. I found that if you put "heavy" dish soap in it you will have problems with the flow and eventually it will wear out the batteries. Either use real hand soap or dilute the dish soap with some water to make it thinner and you should have good luck. Have had the 2nd one over a year now and all is well

Wow, there are lots of people with a bad experience with this, but I'm the opposite-- I got one as a gift a year ago and have had no problems whatsoever! I've had to change the batteries once, and refilling it is quick and easy. So nice to be able to wash hands when you need it most -when preparing raw meat, for example- without having to touch anything! I highly recommend, and hope you get a good 'un like I did.

I purchased the older black and chrome model of the dispenser, 4 of them actually. They lasted about a year. I called the customer service number and they said to send back for fixing. It didn't cost much to send three of them back. They couldn't fix them. They sent me 3 brand new stainless steel along with 3 pouches of the soap, which I diluted with soft soap, because the sent was strong. These new ones work much better. Make sure you register your product before you call the Simple Human customer service phone number. I also have the shower shampoo dispensers that are awesome!

Mine did the same thing. I replaced the batteries and it still would not dispense the soap. I emptied out the soap and filled it with water. I had to let it sit for a couple of days and kept trying it. Shazzam... it started to work again. I think the soap has to be diluted some to prevent it from happening. Now I'm back to loving it and happy again. It is too expensive to just throw it away. Please try the water trick and thin the soap down.

Was very excited about this product but after purchasing it, I am completely disappointed. Just stopped working - even changing batteries didn't help so it is just taking up space unless I can find out how to fix it. Don't waste your money even though it is a good idea!

The same exact thing that happened to BUMMED happened to me as well. I thought I did something to it, I tried to clean it out but it still won't work. I was actually thinking about buying another one. Since I see others are having the same problem, I think NOT!

Bummed

I was so excited about this and put it on our wedding registry. We didn't get it, but I wanted it so bad I bought one for our kitchen with a 20% off coupon. I should have saved my money. It ran through batteries like none other (and they are a PAIN to try and change out) and then just stopped working. It would make the motor noise like it was trying to pump soap up and out, but nothing would come out. We tried so many things to make it work and eventually had to throw it out. Didn't even last a year and a half. At what they cost, they should not be that disposable. I'm super bummed.

I'm actually kind of shocked at so many negative comments regarding this product! My sister got me one yrs ago for my birthday & I absolutely LOVE it!! I've never had any problems with it & I am shocked at how long the batteries last. I don't have to change them often at all. My Mother In Law loves it too & I'm getting her one for her birthday. I highly recommend this product!!

Good Product/Not So Durable

We bought 2 of these several years ago to use in the kitchen. The first one failed during the warranty period. Simple Human told us to mail it back and replaced it quickly with a brand new one. Another just failed and they replaced it as well. No muss, no fuss. We are hoping the new one is more durable as it is a bit different from the originals.
They are nice looking and hold a pretty substantial amount of dish soap so that we do not have to fill them constantly. When they work, they are great. But if Simple Human can't design one that will stand up to daily use, they will be a pricey luxury.

I love this soap dispenser. Its hands free! We constantly wash our hands just working around the kitchen cooking and cleaning and we have 2 dogs. So this little gadget is being used constantly. I hope I get a long time use out of this. And I bought the Walmart brand liquid hand soap it works perfectly. I also like that I get to control the right amount of soap being dispensed. No waste, no more soap running down the side of the soap dispenser.
Thinking about buying the smaller ones for the bathrooms.

New version doesn't work.

We have the prior version of this dispenser and love it. So much so, we decided to buy a new one. The new version failed immediately. It started ejecting soap and wouldn't stop. We finally decided that it must have been the light reflecting off our countertop that was confusing it. Also, unlike previous versions which have a manual switch that turns it off when you pick it up, this one has a press and hold button. So, by the time you press and hold it, even more soap dispensed. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

I purchased one about a year ago and really liked it. However, it broke, so I replaced it with another one. The 2nd one has now broke. It is like the motor has burned out. Also, needed to replace the batteries frequently. iI used in my kitchen, so it is used on a daily basis, more than once a day, but I feel it should last much longer for being $45.00

My husband bought this for me for Christmas of 2010 - it works wonderfully! Hands free soap - I've NEVER had a problem with the unit. I do use either duracell or energizer batteries with it - have had to replace them once in about a year's time. I also have been using a big bottle of soap that I bought at Walmart for $4 - no clogs and no problems. I liked it so much my husband bought me a new one this year for Christmas to use in our bathroom and I set that one up immediately with the same soap. Works great.
