First you would be hard pressed to beat this at a higher price, but at this price, grab it. Second it reminds me of those chemistry experiments when I was a teenager in school. I like the fact that I can watch the water boiling as do all of my houseguest, not to mention the children. Third it has a whistle that is not extremely loud which is great for me since I dislike the loud high pitch normally associated with whistling tea pots. Fourth it is easy to clean just rinse with some vinegar and that is it. I see some people complain because you cannot pour without removing the top. Wow hard to think we have become that lazy it is now a problem to remove a top?

This glass teapot was a gift. I think it is working fine as I have heard no complaints from the recipient of the gift.

A Great Basic Kettle

This kettle performs well. No frills--just heats water and whistles to let you know it's boiling. No problems with the handle or the cap/whistle. Directions say to use the metal diffuser ring on electric coil burners. No problem. Simple.

A lovely tea kettle

I really like this pot, even though it takes a while to come to a boil, and the whistle is very soft. Overall, the pot is very pleasant to handle and use. It is sturdier than it looks, and if I were to ever break it, would go buy another one. The clarity of the glass makes it a pleasure to brew tea in. I do steep my tea right in the pot, and it has been very convenient to boil and steep in the same pot. Plus, it is big enough to make tea for all day, at one time. For the price, it is a gem!

It takes awhile longer to boil on low, then medium. I feel it is worth the extra care, as the water makes excellent tea, which is clear as a bell and I can see it before i pour it. The price is great, and the pot is sturdier than I thought it would be. It seems likely that it will last for a long time, however I would buy another in the unlikely event that this one broke.

A friend mentioned a year ago that she could not find a decent tea kettle,so while she looked in Georgia,I decided to check from time to time online. She wanted NOTHING made in China, that was explicit.Lo and behold,I somehow ran across this kettle [at another un-named site].It sold for more, and I thought I would check to see if I could find it for less...yes,@ BB&B.I will not tell her though, after BB&B said it was made in Germany[I do believe it is made in China afterall].My friend loves it so-o-o.

The last tea kettle cracked. I was lost when it came to my evening tea. Went on line to see who had the best deal for me. Tea kettle is working perfectly. Should have ordered an extra one for backup.

Finally a Glass Kettle!

After going through so many kettles that eventually chip or rust and discolor on the inside, I decided to try a glass one. We have been using it for two weeks and are very pleased with it. I can see that the water is clear. It does whistle, but not as loud as other kettles. Because the manufacturer recommends NOT putting the burner on high, I het the water on a '7' and of course it takes longer to come to a boil. But in two weeks, I have adjusted to allowing another five minutes before it is ready to pour. I do not plan to ever purchase an enamel or other kettle again. Very, very pleased!

I used to have one just like this and left it behind in a hotel we left hurriedly (along with many of my other favorite kitchen gadgets). Of course, when we arrived home and discovered these items didn't make it home, I was heartsick about my whistling tea kettle.. When I called the hotel, no one had turned any of my lost items in. I'm so thankful that my whistling tea kettle was still available and I use it several times a day.

Price is Right

For the price, it's a good product. Instructions state to use medium heat; I prefer to heat water more quickly on high heat. The lid must be removed before you can pour. Perhaps it has to be completely sealed around the rim in order for it to whistle, which would obviously eliminate the pour spout. Had I known both of these facts, I probably would not have purchased the tea kettle. However, I would recommend it with those two caveats.

I was looking for a glass ketlle with whistling function for long time. I was so happy when I found this, but whistling with this kettle is very quiet. I could not hear when I was doing laundry. Water inside kettle was almost gone that time. So I go back to use old metal kettle again.

... a glass kettle is a MUST! LOL. I was amazed to realize that it's no longer easy to find these once-popular items in stores such as WalMart. I'm told it's because they appear to be potentially dangerous (i.e., risk of scalding from cracked glass). But I've used them before and believe they're no more dangerous than any other container of boiling water. I must admit I was also blown away by the price of this item, which I got for $11 -- including shipping. I'm sorry if I sound like a commercial, but it was really great to get what I wanted at this price.

I have owned several of these glass tea kettles. I have broken several through the years. They are hard to find. I was happy to find them on-line at Bed, Bath & Beyond. This tea kettle whistles when the water boils. I love glass because you don't get the taste of metal like the metal tea kettles.

I never ever write reviews due to lack of finding time but I have to give this one the big thumbs up! I bought this exact model 3 years ago and used it on an electric & later on a gas stove top. It is beyond fabulous, easy to clean, I like it being glass and seeing when the water boils, it whistles just right .... Only recently the screw around the handle came loose and finally fell out this week and I can't fit it back into the plastic encasing so I'm off to BBB to buy the same one again. I can't live without my green tea in the morning, midday and afternoon ;-)

I've had this glass tea kettle for several years now and use it on a gas stove. I use it about twice a day if not more. So far the whistle has always worked, and it's quite loud, so I also hear it when I'm not in kitchen. But it's nice to see when the water gets hot and starts boiling. The kettle is amazingly sturdy, I've banged it around a few times and it hasn't broken. Usually I wait until it has cooled down before I add cold water again, but a couple of times I have not, and it didn't break then either - though maybe I was just lucky. I only have one tea pot, so if I want to make two pots of different kinds of tea, I just steep one kind in there. It's very easy to clean inside and out.
A great buy at a great price!

I always hated relying on the whistle when boiling water. Now I can see it for myself! You have to keep the burner on medium so the water takes a little longer to boil, but it could be worse. The little trivet isn't attached, but is only required for electric stoves (with the coils) which is what we have, so I just hope I don't lose it. All in all, very happy with my purchase!
