I bought this a few months ago to place at my entry foyer. I will agree with what most people are saying, it was quite difficult to assemble. I think it took me nearly 4-5 hours to assemble. In the end, everything fit and it does work very well. The only issue we have had with it was with the middle leg which is installed at the bottom, in the middle of bottom panel. it broke off after a very months, but in all honesty, i cannot see why it is ever needed. the unit comes with 4 solid corner pieces which provide more than enough support.

Great piece for added storage

We just got this entryway bench. FIrst of all, the price is the best I've seen for a piece of furniture like this. Very reasonable and affordable. Secondly, I was surprised with the quality of the bench. The wood was heavy and solid and it came with a lot of hardware to put it together, which means it should hold up nicely. It did take me a long time to put together, almost 3 hours, but I put some of the peices on wrong and had to take it apart and redo it a couple of times. It's easy to accidently put something on the wrong way so just be careful, and I don't recommend drinking beer while you do it! The storage underneath the bench is a very good size. We keep our hats, sunglasses, dog leash, etc... under there with plenty of room!

The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because the middle peice that you can't see that goes on the bottom made the bench wobbly and we had to take it off. It would not screw in tightly, either that or it was just a bit off size-wise from the corner peices. Either way, it looks great in our living room and we love having the hidden storage. It makes our place look much cleaner and clutter-free.

Thoughtfully Put Together Kit

I was surprised at how well everything lined up in this kit. The top pieces (the ones that move) were the only parts slightly askew, but just by placing the cushions on a certain way, you can't tell. I was impressed at the inclusion of glue and felt foot bottoms in this kit.

It took a while for me to put the unit together, mostly because I put some parts on facing the wrong way and had to partially disassemble. Some of the hardware looked very similar, but with the counts given in the manual, it was easy to tell them apart.

great addition for smaller entryways

We purchased this item to go in our living room (we live in an older 1925 house), and it is a great addition. It did take a while to put together, but we encountered no problems at all. All parts were included, the directions were clear, and all the pieces matched up well.

If you have a smaller space, this would be a good option, and I really like the flexibility of using the bottom storage spaces for different uses. We purchased 1 fabric drawer and put shoes into the other two spaces. We might even get a 2nd one for our downstairs bedroom.

Works Very Well for Us

I bought two of these in white, and I'm likely to go back and buy a third. We need toy storage. At first I felt daunted by the instructions, but they're actually very clear, and everything seemed drilled quite correctly. It's a little like building a Lego set (which we have too many of, which is why I wanted it). I'm a 42 year old woman who's not terribly handy, and it took me about an hour for each, maybe a little less. If you're familiar with Ikea, this construction is a bit more complex, but certainly not hard. It seems very sturdy. One piece had a slight scratch on it, but it's tolerable. The top compartment holds more than I thought it would.

I did major downsizing twice in 2 years after living in the same place over 3 decades. I needed something to keep desk type stuff in that was not a desk.As soon as I saw this I knew it was right. It looks great. Wish they had one that was just a bit larger. Easy to put together and no problems.

It took me two years to find this bench for my condo but I am so thankful that I waited and that I bought this one. I put it together in 1 1/2 hrs and couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I needed a small bench for right next to my front door and this fits perfectly. I made sure to check all parts, etc. to the instructions before I started putting it together and that really helped. If you are looking for a bench for a smaller area I highly recommend this one.

I don't usually write reivews, but I feel I should help "clear" this product's reputation. It took me a few weeks before deciding on purchasing this bench due to all the negative reviews. Boy am I glad I went ahead and bought it! I put it together by myself, and It is not diffiult to put together - the instructions are very clear, with large pictures of exactly where each piece should go. Just make sure you check through all the parts and read through all the instructions while assembling it. It is sturdy and looks great at my entry way!

After reading the reviews I was skeptical about purchasing, but i have never had a problem with returning anything to BBB, so thought I would give it a shot. Put it together myself in about 1.5 hours (with kid distractions). Everything matched up correctly. I did make a slight mistake with one of the hinges but fixed it with wood glue. No biggie. This works perfectly for what I needed and I love the additional seating (cushions are a little hard). I am thinking about getting another one to put at the end of the bed.

This peice did take a while to assemble but was well worth the time! I did not have any of the problems anyone else has mentioned. It went together easily, all holes were in the right place. Solid peice of wood and it looks absolutely perfect in my living room. It was a great buy especially with 20% off! I have received nothing but compliments from all my friends about it!

I wish I would have read reviews, I simply saw the BB&B weekly flyer and thought this would be perfect for my newly renovated office area. After a VERY labor-intensive assembly, the item is wobbly and structurally unsound. Pieces of wood splintered when inserting screws in the misplaced pre-drilled holes. This is going back! Shame on BB&B for selling this garbage!

Please save yourself the time and don't buy this product. I couldn't get past the first two steps because the predrilled holes were not in the correct place. I tried to make new holes and got past that step, but it is still difficult to put together and I've put together many items like this without nearly this much trouble. Directions are difficult to follow and all the hardware was not properly labeled.
Ironically, this was not "Real Simple".
Too bad because it was a decent price and was the closest bench with storage I've found for what I'm looking for.
I even had my husband try and this was all just a waste of time.

Part B Raises Its Ugly Head Once Again

I purchased this product thinking it would be a nice solution for my storage problems in my apartment. I brought it home and was ready to put it together when it was noticed part B was improperly drilled. I called the 800 number on the instructions and I was told to return the unit to the store and get a replacement. I did so, carried the product upstairs to my unit, took part B out of the box and once again the part was misdrilled. I called the 800 number again and this time they offered to send me a properly drilled part B. If the correct part comes - then the problem is solved. In part. As this web site attests - they have known about this product at least since October. The product is still on the shelf. While I may get a usuable unit in a few days - I cannot get back the time or the effort to go to the store twice, to carry the product up and down the apartment steps, and to have to put up with flecks of styrofoam floating around the room. I don't understand why the unit is still on the shelf. I don't understand why the did not offer me the replacement part the first time I called instead of having me exchange it for another defective unit. I have notified the store manager here in Tulsa and it will be interesteing to see if the unit stays on the shelf.

I was surprised this item had so many poor reviews. My husband helped me put ours together, which took a ittle while, but all the pieces were correct and I think it looks great. Made of particle board but sturdy. I love the storage under the seats. It is exactly what I was looking for to use in our bedroom under the window. I will probably sew covers for the seat cushions so they can be a different color, but other than that, this item has been great.
