I could almost handle dealing with the excess spilling, if only the coffee didn't taste so bad!! I first thought it was the coffee I bought, so I bought a better quality brand....nope! Still tastes terrible! Returning this today.

Value coffee maker

I have had this Cuisinart for approx. 4 years and find it very easy to use, and fairly fast. It has a stainless steel pot (NOT thermal), which I really like because it won't break. I also think the pot keeps the coffee from getting a burned taste. It shuts off automatically, and takes up little space. Since I've had it a couple of years, the small plastic handle on the coffee holder has broken, and now a small piece on the cover hinge, so I will be buying a new one soon. I do not advise putting the pot in the dishwasher; clean it regularly as coffee builds up under the rim of the pot. Will definetly buy again; very good price.

I still think this is the best small coffee maker I've found. There are easy solutions to the two complaints in many reviews. 1st - Keep the lid on the carafe every time you pour, whether it's coffee out or water in. If you do, it will NOT drip. 2nd- You must keep coffee grounds ALL IN THE FILTER. If any are outside they will plug the drain to the pot and it will back up. It's a great coffee pot if you're careful!

Worst Product Ever

I don't know what is going on with cuisinart, but the quality of their products are going downhill. I am glad that I buy my electrics from BBB since they always adjust the coupons and accept the return. This 4 cup coffee pot is a joke. I never like "thermal" pots, but I also agree that there is a problem with the design of this coffee pot. I always have to watch if the water is leaking down the side of the unit when I am trying to pour the water into it. Am returning it to BBB and try something else and definitely not a Cuisinart!

I bought this coffee maker to replace my 12 cup Krups in my office. I now can make small, batches of fresh coffee as I want them throughout the day. Fast, easy to use and no spills when pouring a cup. Stainless steel carafe is better than the breakable glass. A very good value for the price.

I got this coffee maker because my sister has one and I liked it. Have been using it for one week, no problems. No spills, dont know how everyone else is spilling coffee, No grounds in coffee either. So to make this short, I do like my coffee maker very much.

I purchased this coffee maker because I trusted the Cuisanart name, and because of it's 4 cup size.Unfortunately there are several flaws in the product. The water pumps into the basket too quickly, and there are always grounds in the cup. Also, it leaks when you are pouring ,risking being scalded, and also wasting that precious coffee.

Worst stainless steel carafe

The problem with this coffeemaker comes when you try to pour the coffee into a cup or mug. The stainless steel carafe has a plastic lip ring that impeds proper flow of the liquid. Watch out for spills on the counter. The lid does not fit securely and can fall off while pouring causing the hot liquid to spill. The ring also means you will never be able to get at the last drop. It will only come out if you turn the pot completely upside down.

Trust the Reviews... Design Flaw

I read the reviews but really wanted a small coffeemaker for my very small kitchen. Don't waste your time. Reviews are right on... This unit has a design flaw in that the the hot water is pumped through the unit faster than it drips into the pot. This results in the coffee over flowing the edges of the cone & filter. Coffee grinds then block the bottom where the coffee drips out which is what results in the pause n pour not stopping the coffee from flowing everywhere. Too bad I really like the size but it is going back today.

Such a disappointment

I purchased this coffee maker about 6 years ago. I had trust in the Cuisinart reputation. I loved the stainless pot (no glass to break) and 4 cups was just the perfect size. After a few months of dealing with drips from pouring, or if the pot wasn't centered correctly, the coffee backed up and I'd have coffee and grinds all over the counter, not to mention in my cup, or the warmer off after 20 minutes, so the second cup would be cold, I finally called Cusinart Customer Service. My main complaint was the coffee backing up. Was there something I was doing wrong? Was there a trick to this? The woman from Customer Service was quite indifferent. Said she never had a complaint of this but I could return it to the store. Whoopie-Do! Alot of help that was since I didn't have the box. So I dealt with it for 6 years and this coffee maker has finally died! (Horray!!)) So as I am on-line shopping for a new coffee maker, I see my former nightmare and had to add my 2 cents.
To Cuisinart: You blew it! Not only was this designed poorly, not worthy of your reputation, but your Customer Service stinks. So now I will buy Hamilton Beach, Krups, Kenmore, or Brand X. (BTW, needed a new food processor a few months back. Guess what? Kenmore!)

I had one of these little things for years. It's very sturdy. I could throw it in the car to use on vacation, no worry about it getting broken. I first purchased to use at my job then when I was finished I passed it to my daughter. When she no longer needed it, it came back back to me. Now over 10 yrs. later I'm ready to buy a replacement. It's great as a second coffee pot at home for a flavored coffee when not everyone wants a flavored coffee.

I chose this over Mr. Coffee and am sorry. Cuisinart has a good reputation but "consumer testing" was not thorough. This makes good coffee but when pouring, the coffee drips and drizzles from the pot terribly due to a defect in design. Everytime I pour, Ilose about 1/3 cup coffee in the sink.
Another disadvantage is that since the carafe is aluminum and not glass, you can't tell when the coffee is finished brewing.
I do like the fact that the coffeemake will shut off after 30 minutes.
The disadvantages of the design and what I consider lack of "consumer testing", has changed my opinion about Cuisinart products overall.

I'm on my second one. Size just right to get one person's day started and it makes good coffee. Two things you must do - pour SLOOOWWLLY from the center of the carafe lip into either coffee pot or cup, and, as the user manual says, decalcify it every month or two. Well, three things - be careful to get all of the ground coffee in the filter, not outside it. Otherwise the valve at the bottom of the basket clogs, and then of course it drips.

Foolishly threw away the box and receipt because it was working fine for the first few weeks. Now when using the pause n' pour feature I pour but it doesn't pause. Also pours on the counter or floor when I'm trying to pour into a cup. I'm taking the loss and getting the 5 cup maker from Sears that I have in the country. Before boycotting Target I tried two from them that were junk as well. Seems hardly any manufacturers make a good small coffee maker. The large version of the Cuisinart in a friend's office has the same flaws.

I read all the reviews and bought it anyway! At first it worked fine, a little drippy, but nothing I couldn't live with. I've had it about 3-4 months and it is officially retired. Just a piece of junk. The one star rating is for the first month, after that it would be no stars.

I would not reccomend this. First off it doesn't make enough cups of coffee for me (i'm an addict), i got it for Christmas, i think my mom wanted me to have less coffee haha. the coffee tastes good, but like everyone says, it spills, and it started smoking one time. I often go to Starbucks and don't brew my coffee at home, otherwise i think it would be toast by now.
