I received this as a gift and was (obviously) disappointed when it broke. Same problem as listed above with the metal piece going into the gears of the handle breaking. Initially I was going to email the company demanding they replace the unit as I have not had it very long. However, now realizing how inexpensive it is, perhaps I will invest in something else. (as well as harrass my cheap friend that got for me!! Lol) No reason to point out, you get what you pay for and while it is really nice to have a stand that you can leave it set out in, perhaps I will look at a cased rabbit.

I have to say, fantastic point about the fact that it costs more for a decent bottle of wine, really puts things in perspective!

Opted for this set because I was being cheap and hoping to add the real Rabbit to my Christmas list. I am pleasantly surprised with this set and it has good weight. The test of time will determine how good it truly is but I will keep in my mind that I only paid $12 for it. The bottle of wine cost more than that!!

There are better foil cutters -- buy them separately. But the 'Rabbit" lookalike is terrific. For $10-$12 you get a metal equivalent to the plastic name-brand. My friends' real Rabbits fro $40-$50 break in two uses also. When used properly, this metal one lasts a long time, and you get one replacement coil. If it ever breaks-- only happened once, many years ago -- invest your next $12 in another one. You are still way ahead of the MetroKane one that also can break in two uses. It is the easiest, best corkscrew around, when used properly. And you'll look so cool . . .

my recommendation - don't buy this one!

I have owned two of these and they are JUNK!!!! My husband is a fix-it man and he finally fixed one of them but it was a chore. My 1st one lasted about a year., received the 2nd as a gift, used only a few times - BROKE. My "fix-it" husband said it is all in the 2 rods that go thru the handle into the release mechanism, they have to be engaged into the unit. Now if that makes any sense they are fixable, but for how long???

This Mexican-made piece of junk deserves no stars - a star implies service. This corkscrew cratered first time out of the chute when both retaining springs shot out across the kitchen nearly taking out an eye. Can you say tort? This product is a hand grenade with an uncertain fuse time. Poor products such as this do nothing to add to the BB&B bottom line but do say alot about the quality of products they are willing to sell to their longtime customer base. Target here I come!

Not the highest quality but at the price and the usual BB&B discount it is a buy. I had to repair the foil stripper and thanks to "Southern Shoppers" review and repair idea I was able to keep the pin in place. When it is working it is great,when not , it is a pain. It would help if I knew where to get replacement parts. Any suggestions?

This product is awesome. If you want to impress your guest when opening a wine bottle, this item will do it! So easy to use. No problems with the foil cutter either. Well worth the price. Canada sells this product at $40 at Canadian Tire. Buy it here instead. Enjoy.

I received this in February of 2010, and I am writing this in June 2011. The foil cutter fell apart after only a few uses. The replacement curly screw was replaced after a few months. The small black plastic cap rod holders, that keeps the thing together, started falling out after a few months. Not knowing what that black thing was I threw it out, then when my wine opener started falling apart I realized why and shovel a piece of cork into the hole. When the other plastic cap fell out, I knew what it was and shoved it back into the hole. Be warned, this product is made VERY cheaply, like the other reviewer said, you get what you pay for. AND, I'm not sure where to buy replacement cork screws, since they do need to be replaced?

This corkscrew is very inexpensive and it's an example of: "You get what you pay for." It works fine, but it's thin, light, loose and cheaply made. The handles are so loose they wiggle around and pinch the skin of your hand when you squeeze them. I'm just going to throw it out and buy a higher quality corkscrew.

The only thing I didn't like about wine was opening the bottle.....until I received this as a Christmas gift last year. Amazing technology, and I literally thought it cost five times what it actually did, until I signed on to do this review and found out the cost. What a bargain!
