Great up to a year

Keurig came up with a great idea that has started a new product category. It has been instrumental in bringing easy to make great tasting coffee to the home. That is where I will stop with my praise for the company and this product.
I have owned 3 of these machines. My 3rd one just died on me this morning. All 3 have lasted for about a year to a year and a half. This has been a common occurance for Keurig owners. To their credit, Keurig does send a replacement to those who contact them in a pretty painless process. But why should this be the case in the first place? Shouldn't the product I buy last longer than a 18 months? These issues have been a reality since the product was introduced and seemingly are confined to the top model.
So when the product is working, it is great. But be prepared for a cup of disappointment one morning when you are ready to get your coffee on.

Similar problems as others

I am on my 4th Keurig Platinum Brewer. Each one has lasted a year then they just stop working. I purchased the first one at Bed Bath and Beyond. They have taken 3 of them back when not working without any questions asked.
I think this is the last one that I will own and will switch to a different brand. It is a shame that a company with such a good idea cannot produce a product that will not last more than a year. I predict they will eventually fold because their competition is better than they are and do not appear to want to do anything about it.
Thanks Bed Bath and Beyond for supporting such a poor product. I will choose another one from your fold.

Never Worked From The Beginning

From the first brew, this coffee maker never really worked. I was all excited about my brand new brewer and have been disappointed with it from day 1. It finally stopped brewing completely last week and after several attempts to revive it, I called customer service. The customer service rep walked me through the troubleshooting steps to no avail. Since my brewer was no longer under warrantee, they could only offer me a new brewer at a discounted price and did not care when I told them I would be switching coffee maker brands since it never really worked. I would not recommend Keurig because from what I can tell, these things are not built to last.

Wonderful Coffee

This is the best cup of coffee I have ever had. I enjoy making only one cup at a time without having to waste extra. I'm not sure the temperature feature was worth the extra money, but I like the variety of cup sizes. It helps me thin out the stronger coffees that came with the machine. Overall, I am simply thrilled to be able to enjoy the most perfect cup of coffee.

OH Keurig...why cant you just produce a pot that wont break in a year?? This is a decent cup of coffee and a HIGHLY convenient way to get it with lots of choices of coffees/ teas and other drinks. But the happiness is not long lived. I have been through 3 pots in as many years. Each time, i was JUST barely out of warranty. I bought these for my daughter's who also have been through 2 in TWO YEARS. I didnt bring them back to Bed bath and beyond because I dont feel it's right to ask a distributor to pay for a manufacturers mistakes. BB&B is a great store and i want them to stay around!! Keurig customer service is not helpful. I am done with this brand. I and my daughters just switched to the Tassimo T65...guess what? Better COFFEE and less expensive "pods" - now I feel like I should have switch the first time I was frustrated with keurig. I will have to wait and see about Longevity but so far, MUCH happier.

I received my Keurig for Christmas 2010. I started having problems about 6 weeks ago. Started brewing only half of cup size selected while rest of water returned to reservoir. Talked to customer service and unit cannot be repaired. For the price you would think it would last more than 16 months.

I treated myself to the Platinum Keurig and I'm so glad I did! I used up the complimentary K-Cups and have since switched over to using the My Keurig K-Cup reusable filter. I prefer Gevalia Coffee, and it works great. I have not had the problems that other people have had with it leaking. I am spending a lot less money on coffee, now that I have purchased the Keurig.
I really enjoy using the different brew strengths for my coffee. Clean-up is a breeze!
I drink my coffee black, and have the temperature setting set at the hottest temperature... perfect brew each time.
There is a little splatter if you are using a small coffee cup, but all in all a great purchase!

We will be returning this coffee maker tomorrow. We have had it about 6 weeks and still have not gotten one decent cup of coffee from it! Both my husband and myself like a very strong coffee that this is just not capable of brewing. In hindsight, if makes perfect sense...how can the same amount of coffee (a pod) make 5 different cup sizes without sacrificing flavor at the larger cup level. We have tried using the smallest cup size and multiple runs with multiple pods (rather expensive and still not strong enough) or our own ground blend (same results). If you like tea or cocoa or weak coffee maybe you might like one of theses....

Purchased a year ago, and about 2 months ago the pump started acting up. We thought it just needed to be delimed, worked for a little while. Kept getting worse. I thought the warrenty was up so I thought we were SOL on it. After reading several other reviews about being able to replace it, i checked into it. It was still under warrenty (by about 3 days left) and I called and they told me that I could exchange it for a new one. Thought about somehting different but figured since they would replace it we went with the same thing. I hope this one will last longer than 1 year. Thanks for the great service BBB.

Bought the system today and had my first cup of coffee, which was excellent. I have read from others to unplug the machine after you are done making your drink. I think I will try this instead of having the machine on all the time. I also am using the extra filter system to cut down on clogging problems.

THE POOREST

The poorest coffee machine I ever bought. The coffee maker started leaking the third time I used it.
I cleaned up the counter and tried to brew another cup of coffee. Well, it leaked all over the counter again and what came out was just slightly colored
water that I could not drink. I am taking this back to
the store today and hopefully I will get a refund?????

At first I had troubles with the machine not remembering what size it was making - a couple of overflows. Once I added the filter to my already filtered water from the refrigerator, everything has worked perfectly every time. I love being able to drink my own kind of coffee instead of hubby and I compromising on what type of coffee to drink. He likes extremely bold and I like flavored and mild, We are both very happy with it. We use it all week long - 4-5 large cups a day during the week and many more during the weekend. I love making my ice tea with it. i can make just enough for me - no waste. Hard water is not this machine's friend - use extra filter and all will be fine.

I was so excited when we got this as a wedding gift but it is a huge headache! It has broken 3 times!!! Keurig phone support leads you through all sorts of trouble shooting. They've already sent us 3 replacements. My suggestion? Get a regular old coffee pot with a timer. We love it when it works but what a headache! Not worth it for mornings where we can't make coffee and we are waiting for a replacement.

I love this coffeemaker but within a year I had trouble. The needles get clogged with coffee grounds or calcium deposits, so you have to clean them often, at least once a month with vinegar and a paper clip - I called Keurig to help me troubleshoot the problem with the water not coming out of the brewer - I kept using vinegar to descale but finally it turned off and then, after I turned it on again, the water just went through without stopping. I called Keurig and they are sending me a new machine. They say you should clean it every three months but it should be cleaned more often like once a month. They also recommend the water filter to keep it running at top notch condition which is sold separately. I still love this coffee machine even though it has had problems but hopefully with more frequent cleaning, I won't have future problems.

I started out with a special edition and the pump died within 6 months. Since it was purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond I was able to return it without any issues, and I decided to go for the nicer platinum coffee maker. I had this one for almost 9 months before it died on me. I talked to some of my friends who own the same machine and they were having the same problems as I was; for some reason the pump would stop working. Also mine had a tendency to turn itself off in the middle of the brewing process. I sent an email to Keurig and they really couldn't have cared less. I took my machine back to Bed Bath and Beyond but this time traded it in for the Tassimo T65 because the reviews on that machine are much more favorable. I wish Keurig would put out a more reliable machine. If I ever decide to go back to Keurig I'd buy the Breville or Cuisinart brewer.

I have had my Kreuig Coffee maker for over 4 years and it makes fantastic coffee. The water here is find so I do not have a special water filter. We have never had a minutes problem. My brother and sister in law have the same model and theirs also has worked flawlessly. Am buying on for my neice as a birthday present!

it never really worked so well. My husband kept telling me that but I never agreed. Now I know he was right. My daughter bought hers from Cosco 1 1/2 years before me and I bought mine from Bed Bath and Beyond and it broke. Maybe it makes a difference. They make them different for each store.

I personally have had my machine since November 2009, and I haven’t had one single problem with it. It’s used daily, and used extensively on the weekends.
I don’t use their filters, but I do only use water that has been filtered by my faucet mounted Brita filter.
I’d imagine that if you have hard water and don’t filter it, then you will probably have problems from mineral buildup. That’s not the company’s issue.
Our water is hard, and if we don’t use a filter on our refrigerator, then the ice maker solenoid only lasts 9 months. Since filtering the water it’s lasted well over 3 years. The coffee pot has a pump and solenoid valve as well.
So if you want the thing to last, then you need to take care of it and use only filtered water. That’s just my 2 cents.
Clean it? I haven’t cleaned anything except the K-cup holder and drip tray from time to time.
Oh, and my father and I also own single cup machines for traveling for business! Haven’t had any issues with them either.
Now there are some things I would like to see change:
1) The max water temp is 192 degrees, which isn’t really hot enough for some loose leaf teas.
2) I wish the reservoir was twice the size, or there was a way to connect it directly to a water line with an inline filter of course.
